  1. I booked and paid for a “guaranteed” regular balcony in aft section 5 weeks before the cruise on the Discovery. Two weeks later I was assigned a deluxe balcony in the mid aft section. No problem whatsoever. There were several cabins around me that were vacant. I thought maybe because it was across from the laundromat that it wasn’t desirable. It wasn’t a problem at all. In fact I think I will look at cabins in the future close to the laundromat as it was very convenient to do a load of laundry late in the evening. BTW, washer, dryer, detergent were all free.
  2. I think it depends on how you got the complimentary gift. If through Princess a credit on the app would show up. If through a travel agent you might have to redeem it on board.
  3. Everyone is not tested onboard especially for 7 day or less itineraries. Testing may occur for longer cruises or B2B.
  4. I just read above somewhere it was 6 cans for $11.80. Not sure if the 18% is included or not. At the bar it $2 + 18%.
  5. I was on the Majestic Mar 5 - 12. You were allowed to take the cartons with you and not held until the final day. Alcohol was held.
  6. Thank you for a very nice review highlighting the positives and not complaining about the negatives. It sounds like you saw and explored a lot and had a great time. What a nice vacation for your family.
  7. This sentence makes it seem like you were not aware of the testing requirements until you read the new page. The new page is probably a reminder of the testing and vaccination requirements for cruising.
  8. If you put in cash do you still need to tap your medallion and set up an account? Or do you get a ticket for remaining cash to take to another machine or to the cashier?
  9. That’s the problem with prepaying for an excursion not associated with the cruise line. If you wish to use an independent tour operator it might be best to do it at the port. Or make sure ship delays are covered with a refund. It seems you checked but the operator was not accepting it.
  10. The account is set up on the slot machine with your medalllion and a PIN you create.
  11. For slots, you set up an account the first time you play. It will ask you how much you wish to charge to your room account. The last night the casino is open you will visit the casino cashier and cash out your “bank”. For table games, you give your medallion to the pit boss at a table. They will ask how much you want in chips. I believe the limit is $2-3k per day. Like a marker, 3 slips are brought to you to sign. 1 goes to record in your shipboard account, the 2nd gets dropped in the table Dropbox and you are given your chips. The 3rd is your copy. Chips can be cashed in anytime at the cashier. I know you can present cash at table games instead. IDK if slots take cash.
  12. We disembarked on the morning of May 4 in Vancouver. Our statement was in our email inbox on May 5 at 2:10am less than 24 hours.
  13. I feel for you Darnoc. Princess is inconsistent with interpreting their own rules. I disembarked May 4 from the Discovery in Vancouver. I had a flight that day on AC556 at 13:45 to Los Angeles. I was given an appointment to report to the Ketchikan DR for pre-flight testing at 10:45am on May 3rd. The test was done clearly 24 hours before my flight. I feel the rule might be one day before vs. 24 hours. I don’t really know but what happens if your flight is delayed? Do you need to retest? I submitted my flight info to Princess on their form as requested by May 1.
  14. I have done several cruises all on Princess over the 15 years. Our friends asked several of us to join them on a 4 day RCI cruise on the Navigator out of Los Angeles. On Princess we are able to charge casino play, whether slots or table games, to our onboard account without any fees. I’ve read some cruise lines allow this but charge a fee of maybe 2%. What is the policy for RCI? Do I need to bring cash for my casino venture? Also does this ship have a craps table and a live or electronic poker table? TIA!
  15. Amtrak has a bus running 3 times a day from Vancouver to Seattle.
  16. I arrived in Vancouver on May 4. I believe the first off the ship was around 7:40. I didn’t but could hear the announcement while getting coffee. Of course it could differ and depend on several conditions.
  17. On the Discovery recently we had room B620, across from the laundromat. I noticed on the room tv that under things you could order were COMPLIMENTARY detergent and dryer sheets. I thought about doing our laundry the morning we were delayed arriving to Victoria so I went across the hall to the laundromat to see the cost. To my surprise the washer and dryer were free. The coin slots were removed. In addition, there was detergent and dryer sheets available as well so I didn’t need to order that. It was very convenient and thinking now I will look for cabins near the laundry room.
  18. A working medallion is all you need. Any info missing will be updated at check in. They never looked or scanned the QR code.
  19. Agree. We were suppose to arrive in Victoria at 1pm. It was delayed until 3pm. That morning I tried to read and answer emails. Internet connection was very slow downloading messages (about 15), sending was a problem as well. Internet disconnected and took awhile to connect again.
  20. Can someone tell me why there is so much interest in who is the Captain of the ship? I find it similar to the Captain of a plane. No one asks who is flying the plane. I have to assume the captains are all very competent.
  21. The answer is spelled out on the Princess website for cruises embarking in Canada.
