  1. Yes, space, large bathroom (two sinks and tub plus separate shower), and lots of storage are the reasons I book Signature Suites when I can. For the extra money you also get two Mariner points per day rather than just one for lower-level cabins. I love the SS on Vista and Signature class ships but looking at the layout of them on Pinnacle Class ships, I wouldn't book one. If they had more perks before I first cruised in them in 2012 then I'm not aware of them. Anyone else know? ~Nancy
  2. From Halfacts.com Ocean View Cabin # 1094. Kindly contributed by Cruise Critic member ‘Andi Land’. Photos taken in December 2019. It's a detachable and adjustable wand type. (Sorry the picture is so big!)
  3. Can't answer the spa pass question, but the regular Jacuzzi's/hot tubs next to the two pools are available to all passengers during the regular opening hours. (unless they are closed for rough weather or other maintenance problems) Welcome to Cruise Critic @Eldy90066 and have fun on the Nieuw Amsterdam! ~Nancy
  4. The croissants referenced in the CO Breakfast hang tag in post # 220 are actually part of the bread pudding ingredients, not separate croissants by themselves. As mentioned though, I wrote in croissants on the hang tag, and I received them. They were really good! ~Nancy
  5. I think that since HAL must procure, store on board and deliver distilled water that the $2.95 cost is fair. I don't use a CPAP, but since several people have reported using the tap water, that's what I would likely do since it's only for the time frame of your cruise. ~Nancy
  6. I stayed at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon last November and it was clean, nice room, had laundry on site and as @JohninDC said, there are several food options across the street. I took a shuttle to MIA and an Uber from Port Everglades after my cruise. ~Nancy
  7. Have you researched a safe place to park/leave your car near the West Oakland BART station? I'm not familiar with that area but I strongly suggest investigating the parking options vs at SFO. Parking Overview | bart.gov Good luck, ~Nancy
  8. You sure got some great views for a while at least! Sometimes it's clouded over all day. ~Nancy
  9. It's ironed as required by fabric and either on hangers or folded as you request. Ironing is included in the price with washing. ~Nancy
  10. Good choice @Hllb! I think you will be very happy with your cabins. If you feel like it, please report back here when you return with your impressions of the Signature Suite and inside cabin combo for your group. Have fun! ~Nancy
  11. Hey there @Amyj13 and welcome to Cruise Critic! I suggest you read all the very recent reviews here on the HAL forum and many of your questions will be answered. After you have a chance to do that, come back with any specific questions you didn't get answered. Love, love Norway!! You will have a great time, I'm sure. ~Nancy
  12. There's always a chance somewhere on the ship, or even out on the deck, will be chilly, even in the Caribbean. I always pack a sweater just in case! Have fun! ~Nancy
  13. They charge everyone who comes in to eat the base charge plus 18% gratuity no matter what you order. Any added food such as extra appetizer or upcharge steak or lobster is extra. If you don't get a regular entree for some reason, you still get charged the base charge. ~Nancy
  14. There is no Grand Dutch Cafe on NA. From reports on CC (I have no direct experience with Club Orange) and what I observed in the MDR on NA, there is no separate Club Orange seating. There is a podium/line marked for CO at the dining room entrance. ~Nancy
  15. All these descriptions have renewed my interest in visiting Africa for a safari! It just sounds so amazing. Question: If you really, really, need to go to the bathroom while out in the bush, what do they do? Asking for a friend............🙄 ~Nancy
  16. Room tip for any ship with refrigerators: Using your beverage package, you can pick up unopened beer, sodas and water from any bar and put them in your cabin mini fridge for later use. I was able to pick up two drinks at a time. This is particularly good on port days when you won't be on the ship using the beverage package for a lot of the day then put some drinks in the cabin fridge for the sea days or when you have room service or are hanging out on your balcony. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for cocktails or glasses of wine though. 😏 ~Nancy
  17. Thanks for letting us know your update. Have a wonderful cruise! ~Nancy
  18. Thank you for this information @hallasm. ~Nancy
  19. I love that people are able to get off the ship and go on these safaris and the world cruise bloggers/posters are sharing with us. Thanks, ~Nancy
  20. Thanks again @Flyinby for your recent information. From what I understand Norway will be not allowing some larger cruise ships in the World Heritage Fjords within the next few years. (I don't remember the true timeframe). It's good that Hurtigruten and Havila are using less polluting propulsion. It's going to be a loooong wait for my Havila trip in June 2024!! 😏 ~Nancy
  21. Did you report this to the guest services or housekeeping? Will they send someone to fix it? I had a small maintenance issue on Rotterdam in November and the man came and fixed it the next day. ~Nancy
  22. Your trip sounds so fun! I love the Nieuw Amsterdam and I also stayed at the Riverside Hotel at the end of October 2022 for 5 nights between NA and Rotterdam cruises. I love that hotel and will stay there for sure the next time I'm in Ft. Lauderdale! I spent some quality time at the Golden Lyon Pub at the end of the day a few evenings. Good place to people watch and the bartenders were friendly. I wasn't able to go on the water taxi because of a knee injury but will for sure the next time! I'm looking forward to your posts and the perspective of your friends too! ~Nancy P.S.- I was born in Oak Ridge Tennessee, thus the Cruise Critic handle.
