  1. Ah,  Millie is a beautiful old timer.  She is small, only holds about 2100 passengers but she is truly a classic  ,, before the days of the mega ships.  I can't speak of the cabins, as I have not been on her for awhile. The crew has always been wonderful,, and our butlers couldn't do enough for us.  NO reservations needed for shows. .  I will be on her for Christmas in a few weeks, for a short cruise. Looking forward to seeing her again.

Normally when I cruise, as soon as I get into the cabin, I turn off my mobile phone and secure it in the safe - where it remains until we return to Southampton. I realise that this year (Christmas cruise) because of having to use the "My Holiday" thingy, I won't be able to do that.

Could somebody explain to me (very simply - an idiot's guide) as to what I need to turn on (or off) to avoid running up an unexpected bill - but still allowing the "thingy" to work.

    Many thanks 🙂

TURN AIRPLANE MODE OFF (TAB WILL BE GREEN). THATS IT.  IF YOU WANT TO USE WI FI,, CONNECT TO THE SHIPS WI FI AND YOU CAN TEXT  AND EMAIL ALL YOU WANT.  IF YOU WANT TO PHONE HOME, DOWNLOAD "WHATSAPP"  TO MAKE ANY WI-FI CALLS.  RECEPTION WONT BE PERFECT, BUT IT SHOULD WORK . EASY PEASY.

  3. What's app should work with any cruise line wi fi service. May not be the best, but it does work.  .  Just make sure your phone is in Airplane mode, so you don't get cell charges.to your phone.  oh and do it in a quiet area so you can converse without screaming 🤣

  4. .  The easiest  to remember, turn on Airplane Mode. ,  Your  cellular will go off and the phone will go into wifi mode.  With the ships basic plan. you will be able to text., send pics.  You will not receive phone calls while in Airplane mode but  If you want to call home, use a wi-fi service (WhatsApp) .to place calls, although   It may be spotty, as the bandwidth is not always  strong on ships.

  5. Global Entry renewal was easy and fast.  Renewed online and received a couple weeks later. As for passport, I sent in end of May to renew without expedite , when I found out I needed it for July 2.  weekend. Had to get in contact with them, they promised it would be close,  paid the expedited charge and hope I would get it by July 2.  As that was a weekend, it ended up in my mailbox on July 5.  Too late for my holiday weekend.

  6. I worked for a company that makes foam pads.  I would not suggest purchasing one for your trip. You would need one to be at least 2" thick, and they don't pack well,. even if you get  the air sucked out , the bulk weight is still there.   They are big, and take up  a very large amount of cubic space for traveling ..  I would suggest, as someone suggested, to ask your cabin Steward for a topper ( or 2) to use on top of the bed for your comfort. .

Our annual plan expired in 2020 and we are just considering starting a new one. Insuremytrip is not really helpful for annual plans, I see there is a way to do it but it isnt working for me. Would you be willing to share what company you have your with and how you arrived at that company? Thanks!

Sure, went with GioBlue, my reasoning is that I have medical issues and need pre-existing coverage as a priority whenever I travel.  As I have a few trips planned for the next year, I went online looking for annual travel insurance  and found the companies that would insure me with the primary requirements I needed. As I added my needs, the list got smaller, and GioBlu fit the bill.   A big savings over individual policies.

Celebrity needs to mandate everyone be vaccinated no matter their age, medical condition(s) or excuse(s) before boarding any of their ships.

I was on the Edge in Sept. All passengers (excluding 6 children under 12) were fully vaccinated, including crew.  We had no outbreaks , and no masks.  I believe Celebrity continues its all vaccinated cruises.

  9. Put in for renewal beginning of June , thinking it will be returned before the rush back to traveling.  In the meantime I was offered a trip to Nassau over the July 4 weekend. .   Called the passport office and explained I needed the passport by July 2 who said it could be done. .  Paid the expedited price, but received my passport July 5.

  10. As I booked a few cruises going forward,, I decided to buy a yearly international travel policy.where I opted for pre existing and full medical coverage, , should I get ill or hurt, plus covid coverage, while traveling,  I know I can get home if needed. .  Cost for a year was  only $250.00.Whch is cheaper than buying individual policies   , .

  11. Hello everyone, my name is Mona and went on my first solo cruise in September.  I was hesitant at first, I became a solo in 2019 then hit with the pandemic like everyone else.  My September cruise on Edge was so successful, I have now booked 3 more in 2021-2122.  Next up Christmas on Millennium .

  12. I understand Celebrity wants you to upload the vaccination card on your app. I did not do that before I cruised, as I checked in on my home computer. although I had stated to them that I was fully vaccinated.  When arriving at the pier, they will ask to see that vaccination card quite a few times, and that is when it matters, , so if you didn't or can not  download it, I wouldn't worry about it.

  13. Was in Alaska over 6 yrs ago, and did my bucket list of tours. That was one of the best decisions for us.   That whole trip was amazing .  We took a helicopter( they actually weigh you for placement in the helicopter ) up to the glacier and actually were  sledding with the dogs for a few miles in the snow.  and also got to interact  with the puppies there. .  I would do it again in a minute.

  14. Was on the Edge in September. Stayed in the Sky Suite Can honestly say, the service of the Retreat Hosts can't be any better.   I think they knew what I wanted, before I wanted it.  It was wonderful.  I am going back in February, in the same suite, with (hopefully) the same hosts.

  15. It is listed on the  cruise information you fill out online, but you are not required to answer (thank DeSantis for that in Florida only)).  However, , that said, when boarding, you will be asked no less than 4 times to show your vaccine card, front and back) and your negative test taken 2 days before.and passport.   They do check carefully and you will not be allowed on the cruise if you don't have either.  Have a safe cruise.

I have been trying for 2 days to get through to Celebrity.   Has anyone gotten through

I have been fortunate to not have long wait times when calling Celebrity.  I found if I call in the evening , wait  time 10  to 20 minutes . Tuesday I I needed to ask questions and  change itinerary , called around 10 AM. waited maybe 20 minutes.  They do answer the phones, try calling early morning or late evening. Be prepared to wait, but usually under a half hour.

Agree. I know RC has a 12 bottles, cans or cartons limit.

Can I bring bottled water on Celebrity cruise ship?

As of September 1, 2018, on the day of boarding, guests can carry on small amounts of non-alcoholic beverages. “Small amounts” means 12 standard-size (17 oz/500 ml) cans, bottles or cartons of water, juice, soda, etc.Oct 7, 2021

Thank you for your reply but I meant but didnt say (apologies)

Could I transfer the Princess Cruises deposit from one Princess Cruise to another Princess Cruise ?

You  can change destination  from one  to another,, same cruise line.  Be careful,  If you have OBC or any perks, make sure you can keep them before switching. .  I just got off the phone changing one Celebrity cruise for another,, kept all my perks and OBC  and actually saved additional $900.

We have been bringing a 6 pack of figi drinking water in our carry on's for many years, but have not sailed celebrity for some time..Is it  still allowed. thanks so much

Fiji much better than the standard water containers now served  onboard in cans. . You are allowed up to 12 bottles..   I was onboard Celebrity Edge in  September and brought my own even though I had upgraded beverage and Evian bottles available.

I absolutely agree with those who have suggested a hotel in Jersey City.  A Newark Airport hotel might be fine as a place to sleep for one night, but the hotels on or near the Hudson River waterfront really do have a lot more to offer in the way of setting, views, and a much more pleasant vibe overall.  See my reply to a similar question in a previous thread:

This video gives a glimpse of the Westin and its immediate surroundings:

And here's the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson.  The Hyatt Place is at the next corner.

This map shows the relative locations of the Jersey City hotels on or near the Hudson River waterfront.  (The W in Hoboken is just off the top edge of the map.)

Wow.  Thank You for the videos.  Just booked Hyatt House Jersey City.  Perfect location for me.
