  1. Excellent itinerary, as it "hits" the best fjords in my opinion -- Geiranger and Flam, with the added bonus of the Arctic Circle. Jewel is the right fit for this itinerary too.
  2. The huge difference is that we get an alert for missiles [between 60 and 90 seconds], which, believe me, it's a lot. Those who live near the border have only 15 seconds.... Our in house shelter is built to withstand all but a direct hit to our apartment. When hostilities start, we have water, food, batteries and a bag with our IDs, passports, money and jewelry at the ready.
  3. I'm scared. 4th mild earthquake in the last 2 days. And as I was writing, another one... Missiles? Rockets? I've "dealt" with them before... kind of "known material".... As our apartment is at the 5th floor, I'm very afraid of being trapped. Long time fear of finding myself in a constructed and narrow place, without being able to move. And we experience very cold days and nights, the coldest from the beginning of the winter. DH has decided to hang a weight from the lamp, so that we'll KNOW for sure if it's indeed an earthquake... Reassuring? Not so much....
  4. Such an enormous loss of lives and a huge tragedy. The earthquake's magnitude + an extremely cold weather make a very bleak chance of survival. Israel has already sent a huge delegation of doctors, nurses and heavy equipment, and managed to save 3 lives so far. We're also experiencing mild earthquakes, 3 and still counting...
  5. My favorite too.... It's one of the few meals I wish DH could "replicate" at home.... BTW, the wide noodles he experimented with weren't well received. Back to the thin ones 😉
  6. @jagsfan Mimi, I don't want to continue the "discussion" [off topic] about the ban on Shabbat travel in the other thread, so, pls. forgive if I choose to explain myself here. I'm all for keeping traditions. However, in US, those of my faith have another "free" day, beside Shabbat, in order to visit, travel, shop, etc. Here, the Shabbat starts Friday afternoon, when all public transportation stops, and ends Saturday late afternoon. By the time it ends, at 6, 7 or, in summer, 8 PM, our only "free" day is finished.... Sunday is a regular day here, people go to work. My opinion is "keep the tradition, but without coercion". You don't travel on Shabbat? No worries. But, if I want to travel, and I don't own a car, I'm stuck at home all this time.... There is no law asking you to feast on Yom Kippur, yet, the whole majority here feasts. No law to circumcise your 8 days old baby boy, yet the whole majority does it. And many more traditions. But, give people a choice.
  7. Andrew, thinking about Lucy. That's the text I've got from my friend in Montreal (she already has 3 "inside" cats), and I was wondering if there is a "limit" of cold weather where you'll bring Lucy "inside" -- [Pic] It's the stray, Ebony. -37C he would freeze to death. Got him hiding in my basement (He's now in my basement because it would be too cold outside tonight).
  8. May I add through ours too? The Flowers Dome The Gardens by the Bay [by day and by night] Glad your DIL spent 17 hours in a pleasant ambiance.
  9. It wouldn't be the first one and neither the last one....
  10. I've carefully chosen cabin #210, it was under the ladies restrooms, never heard a thing. Just have a look exactly what's above.
  11. Well, JC, to say the truth, I hadn't the foggiest idea what you're asking me ☹️ I had to recourse to my son, who replied: "He sticks every landing". And sent me another pic of his friend "in action" 😉 -- I rest my case.
  12. And to many Jews too... The ban travel on Saturday/Shabbat was good when families were living together, thousands of years ago. Nowadays, families are spread out due to work, education, price of living, etc. In Israel, where the Shabbat is the only "free" day, if you don't have a car, you cannot visit families & friends. No public transportation allowed.
  13. @Sea Dog + 3 👍 I got Covid end of June, and I was fatigued at least 3 to 4 months. Actually being sick with fever and headache -- only 2 days. @BonTexasNY + 1 👍 @h20skibum + 3 👍 @bobmacliberty + 1 @ReneeFLL Such a bummer that AA is cancelling the MIA-TLV route. I know that ElAl found it unprofitable and closed it, and then re-opened it several times. Only ElAl and AA have direct flights, I've checked them when I was hoping to join the Bella cruise... Such a coincidence Mike taking a pic of a windsurfer, who turns out is a good friend of DS1 (who is also windsurfing, surfing and SUP). I've shown him the pic, knowing that's their daily "turf".... rise and shine... Here're some other pics of the surfer with the green board --
  14. Go for it, Jim. It's an amazing itinerary. And I really hope Judy @NHProud will sail with you too 👍
  15. Sorry Mike didn't enjoy his short stay here. The winter really started this week, with yesterday being a rough day indeed. It's not a lighthouse, it's the Reading Power Station.
