  1. When you show up at FLL you request the Uber. There is an arrow next to "set pickup location". Choose your terminal.

For terminal 1 it is the arrivals area.

THANK YOU very much for your DETAILED post. As someone who doesn't live in an area with taxis, much less uber...

I am nervous about doing it correctly from MIA in Dec.

Most people simply post...."oh u uber is SO EASY, youll have no problem"

But your DETAILED post was REALLY NICE to see.

    Thanks again :)

  2. While we find having our cards hanging around our necks annoying, we certainly don't care if others use lanyards. :)

I agree and think other comments about snobs is untrue. I have never wore a lanyard nor have I ever even looked at someone for wearing one, unless the lanyard is tied around your head/forehead, trailing behind u in the wind like a cape :) I assure people are enjoy their cruise not judging others.

  3. Best to simply call them and ask about their cancellation policy. Never wise to discuss details of a TA here on CC.

I'm assuming you might all those $ dollar figures I quoted, I didn't realize I thought as long as I did like others and was vague with the name it was ok. I wrote the numbers because I have Only EVER booked direct with cruise lines (I have control issues LOL) and wanted to see if I was missing something / bait and switch  but tks for the heads up :)

  4. I am considering canceling and rebooking a cruise for next Nov., normally I wouldn't because that's a lot of trouble for $100

HOWEVER I looked on "the big box warehouse" website and it seems if I would book thru them ,I would receive a $215 OBC and a $60 OBC....so for a net gain of

(215+60+amex100-minus$55 big box membership) $330.....it totally seems worth the effort

MY QUESTION??? Is "bigbox" cancellation policy the same as princess????

  5. GAH! GAH!! GAH!!! Glenlivet (as served on Princess) is a 12 year old single malt Scotch - not Bourbon!

Princess serves Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, and Knob Creek bourbons. Vastly different from Scotch!

(Sorry, I drink both bourbon and scotch and usually take them neat. Didn't mean to be snarky.)

No not at all :) not much of a drinker , you may know the answer to a question I googled and can't find anything.

I have the aibp for Dec, but as I said I'm not much of a drinker, is there a correct term (like the terms for other stuff ie neat, on the rocks) for ordering a drink with LESS alcohol.

I am trying not to look like a newb, plus if there is a correct term it will help with the language barrier. :)

  6. Yes, you will get your $$$. But beware! The reason that they first give you OBC is so that you feel like you are playing with "house money" and burn through a lot of it that you might not otherwise spend. If that $800 bracelet in the gift shop is more important to you than getting a check for that amount, then by all means, grab it. But otherwise, be mindful of the fact that they are counting on you being rather carefree while on board so that they only have to pay you back a small portion of your cruise fare.

I agree , if you spend on board ONLY as you normally would. You did basically get a free cruise. If your only 2 people in the room a balcony is plenty of room. And your view my be a little less. BUT FREE CRUISE :) ANY VIEW ON A free cruise is nice. GOOD JOB :)

  7. Hi all

We're off on the Caribbean Princess at the beginning of November and just have a couple of questions I can't find the answers to through the forum or Google.

What measures do Princess serve in spirits and wine by the glass? And if I order a $10 whisky but want a mixer in with it, does that take it over the $10 and make it all chargeable or is it treated as 2 separate drinks? We've used the amazing drinks calculator we found on here and think it'll be worth it.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

I'm wondering if I understand your question correctly,

.... if you order a drink but ask for a SPECIFIC liquor

IE.. bourbon and coke but want "glenlivet 12 yo old" listed at $8.95

Would that push the TOTAL of the drink over $10

  8. I am sure you'll get better answers from more seasoned Princess travelers. But I felt compelled to answer because I would probably be worried like you....not that there is anything to worry about but that's just how I am.

If the deadline for the 2 weeks arrives and still no broker statement, I would print the transactions page to fax to show princess you purchased and haven't sold stock. That is all YOU can control. My online broker statement is usually there LONG before the email saying it's there comes, you may want to double check :)

Hope something I said helps :)

  9. an absolutely fantastic way to see the inside of a local emergency room .... even the cruise lines have finally come around and recommend you DO NOT rent scooter/mopeds {most of this applies to ALL the islands ... even Bermuda and Cayman}

    - island drivers are "interesting" and you don't know the roads .... or the local "rules" ... not to mention there are parts of town where you would be VERY unwelcome ..... (if it is a place where they drive on the left 'forgetaboutit' .... your probability of an accident doubles ....

    - the equipment tends to be in HORRIBLE condition meaning no brakes

    - even if you are an experienced biker .... you have a questionable piece of equipment, roads you don't know, sand covered in most cases (slippery as ice) and let's not even begin to think about a beer or two

    - I did MANY an R&R day in DomRep and most of the other islands in the Carib' and my 'organization' eventually proscribed any crew from using any form of two wheel motor device in the islands due to the large number of SERIOUS injuries that resulted .... it is just a BAD idea .....

    - you can hire a taxi for the day ..... much safer ..... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Well 1st I "laughed out loud" at the 1st line.....then thought, ok that's probably true.....then read the rest of your post.....ok thank you for wake up call, I'll put my scooter plans on permanent hold :) OH yeah did I mention I've been known to trip walking on level hard ground, so yea....good advice :)

  10. All seafood is "previously" frozen.....it's a law. They freeze it to kill any parasites in the seafood....unless you catch it yourself, it's been frozen right after it's been caught.

That's NOT true, all Local Supermarkets (not mega stores) around here sell FRESH local shrimp, and in the towns with the shrimp boats they have markets that sell it FRESH off the boat during shrimp season. FRESH shrimp ...almost makes up for the hurricanes;)

  11. I have NOT cruised Regal Princess YET, but from reading the threads it seems ....unlike other ships Regal Has a barista within the pastry shop. If this is indeed true someone on board, might have mentioned it to OP during his complaining on the ship. That he could have gotten his coffee there.

  12. Ty for your reply. You said "less the deductible".

Question, as mentioned above my policy thru work is great 100/0 (no deductible, no out of pocket), but that is in-network ONLY ....'out of network' I have an outrageous $8000 deductible , YEAH

So if your truly saying ..."less the deductible", I would still have to cover 1st $8000 and travel Insurance would cover over $8000 till limit??? ( not that a twisted anything cost thousands)

  13. Hopefully like All insurance coverage we don't need it. But knowledge is power so here goes my scenario , to make sure I'm understanding correctly.......

Purchased Princess' insurance ,I'm on the ship I slip and fall, twisting my ankle or having a large cut (or something they're just examples). I go to ship doc and the charges go on my ship acct. and I pay.

When I return home, I contact travel insurance, they tell me to file with bcbs (out of network) . I have great medical insurance BUT my 'out of network' well its bad :(, as soon as bcbs does EOB not paying, simply applying to my 'out of network's deductible I contact travel insurance and they reimburse me for ship's doctor charges???

    Is this correct ???

I mostly ask because this is how I told my DH it works , he is anti-doctor at home so I Really don't see him taking time from his vacation unless it were a necessity.

But if I mis-informed him, he'll repeatedly tell the story to annoy me.

    Ty for the feedback

  14. It's all in your mind that you got sub par service because they don't know you pre paid and what does that got to do with it since you did pay the gratuities.

You may be right, as it was my one and only RCCL cruise, that may be there normal service. It was my only experience in a full suite and I have had far better service in balcony to inside on other lines ( ncl & princess )

Rccl stewards MAY know who prepays :) but since were on a princess board ???

  15. My question is on PRE PAYING the gratuities. I realize I asking for people's opinions but PLEASE don't turn this into ANOTHER auto gratuities debate , please.

I didn't pre pay the gratuities earlier this year for my Dec cruise, at the lower price because I didn't see the merits in having princess hold my money for a year just to save 20 bucks BUT I have started to consider pre paying the gratuities for this dec , it's not a matter of getting the charge over with but more so, a matter of NOT having a cluttered up bill.

The only time I ever pre paid the gratuities (on RCCL) was the only time I feel i got subpar service.

I would love to hear anyone thoughts / pros and cons , on PRE paying.

  16. We have just booked to do 10nts on Royal Princess in March. We will be flying direct into Miami maybe 2 nts pre cruise. As it's our first time cruising the caribbean we have no idea where is best to stay in Miami**Our ship leaves from Fort lauderdale so do we stay miami or FL?

We intend on 2nts pre and post cruise somewhere but have no idea where to start*any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend.... the 2 night PRE cruise stay near port everglades to do the ft lauderdale touristy stuff ( Hyatt place 17th st) and your close to port when you leave, Hyatt has shuttle.....POSTcruise I would stay in coral gables (Biltmore) to do Miami stuff, not a fan of south beach (myself) there are great things to do near coral gables / coconut grove (vizcaya museum)

  17. Caribbean Princess is a copy of an earlier generation Grand class ship (Grand, Golden and Star Princess) just with one more deck of cabins but no additional public areas or features.

The subsequent generation of Crown, Emerald and Ruby added many positive changes needed for a ship with higher passenger capacity that Caribbean didn't: more deck space, larger Louts Spa w/ thermal suite, larger kids/teen clubs, relocated Sabatini's and Wheelhouse Bar to increase their size. The Piazza features, Crown Grill and relocated Casino were added to Caribbean Princess in a significant refit that was deemed necessary only a couple years after she was launched.

So yes I would call Caribbean Princess a stand-alone class of ship. She didn't even get the updated features that were added to Diamond and Sapphire Princess that were being built simultaneously (though in a different shipyard).

I just wanted to say what an excellent and easy to understand explanation. I read your comment.... out of interest because I have Only been on CB so far. TY :)

  18. Boy am I glad I read this thread.

I was planning on waiting till the last day to get my cosmetics to get the 15% off of $250, hoping that everything I wanted was still available.
