WOW, I'm stunned. Not only at Regal princess' mishandling of his EVac, but the letter the wife received from princess was a TRUE slap in the face. Citing all that stuff about .."well you agreed to ____". WHAT the heck, princess is trying to cover their, you know what, SHAME SHAME princess.
I sure hope this thread and story gets the attention it deserves and princess does right by them...

Don't feel bad, same as you were told. this poster was talking about a December 2015 cruise where the credit was to be used by December 2016. this is the same as you and your November 2015 cruise that would have to be used by November 2016, before your December 2016.
I am sorry you had to cancel, hope your mother is better soon.
Thank you. I love the cruise critic community , but the reason I ended up calling princess and insurance company was, sometimes the CC community info can be a little off, everyone always means WELL. And I have a feeling, most people cruise OFTEN and therefore the 'sail with 12 months of canceling' doesn't really factor in for most. Tks for everyone's helpful ideas :) but my ship has LITERALLY sailed LOL Thank you again :)
-
As far as using the cancel for any reason credit: i had called last week and asked for info in case my husband had to cancel for any reason for our Dec 2015 cruise.
Princess said : whether we cancel today or dec 2015 we have until DEC 31 2016 to use the credit. I called back and was told that same answer again; It does not matter when you cancel in that year but it must be used by DEC 31 of the next year for sure.
Well that's hard to hear, since I feel like I DID the leg work and ASKED princess and princess' insurance co. And got DIFFERENT answers. Because if what you are saying is correct and NOT the answers I was given, I would have Definitely gotten the insurance. Because I knew my mother may not have been completed out of the woods, in time for me to go. That's what I hate about calling ANY company THESE DAYS , it all depends on who you get on the phone, as to WHAT info you get :(

I did a lot of research on cc about insurance before I booked and then to get exact answered called the insurance co princess uses. They told me if I used the cancel for any reason clause to cancel, they would put a credit for the $ of the cruise in my princess account but these funds ....Must be used within 12 months, I asked for clarification, since I have a cruise book Dec 2016, they said no funds must be SAILED WITH by nov3rd... so If couldn't apply to Dec 2016 cruise and I don't have any time off until Dec 2016, then I figured, if funds couldn't be used/applied to Dec 2016 and I wouldn't have time to sail before Nov 3, 2016, then the Insurance was NOT useful to me.

Update on what happened when I called princess.....
She said I could get my taxes and port fees returned($140), which at this point I was grateful to receive, since I had never been in this situation before and was happy to recoup Any money. And since it was only a 4 day cruise, Fortunately I am only out of pocket 600. Which is a good chuck of change, but I knew I was making a gamble to start with. And will be unable to get away in The next 12 months so the insurance wouldn't have helped....but thanks to the cc. community I at least have my taxes and port fees back :)

Call Princess and explain the situation. Any answer you get here will be speculation.
Ok , will do, ty

We are booked on a cruise leaving tomorrow. We didn't get the insurance , (yes yes I know but we weighed the pros and cons)
My question is..... although I am Fully prepared and going to, pay for a vacation I can't take now.....Is there ANY up side to informing princess, that I will be a NO SHOW(booked thru princess No TA)
-
When paying for a full suite all the amenities listed should be included or why bother paying 5 or 6 times the fare for a suite.
I agree , 1st let me say I've never stayed in a FULL suite. But would love to go on a full transit Panama canal someday and looked into the suite for the space. However I find the USE of the space perplexing. However, I would definitely book a full suite IF princess would include reserved theater seats for suites. There's nothing worse than showing up 20-30 minutes before the show to get a seat , only to be Bummed Rushed, by inconsiderate people 2 minutes before the show. I couldn't take 17 days of that and would find the money to get a suite if, seats were reserved for suite guests.

Thank you all very much, for the feedback. I feel more at ease now. I clearly get worried easily, LOL. Thank you again :)

My 1st princess cruise is in about a week. On another thread someone posted a link to a 4page disembarkation information by princess. As a Newbie to princess my question is.....
I want to do the Express Walk Off , with other cruise lines I've been on if you do the Express Walk you just, do it, you don't have to sign up for express walk off and get this PASS the info sheet talks about....
Is there TRULY a PASS I must hand someone to get off the ship??????
-
Lol maybe princess ....does TRULY monitor these posts :)
-
Oh ok, that makes sense :) 4 stores, on 2 decks, just names are mislabeled TY :)
-
I will be on caribbean princess in a couple of weeks. I was checking out the deck plans on the princess website and I'm not sure I'm seeing them correctly, was wondering if someone with 1st hand knowledge knew....
Basically the deck plans show.... deck 6 AND deck 7 as BOTH having an Essense and a calypso cove, I'm sure they're stores....BUT by their placement they CAN'T be 2 story high.
Do they actually have 2 separate, essence/calypso coves' on different decks???
-
I just stumbled across your review, I was drawn in by the title but... was Pleasantly surprised. I will be on the caribbean princess in a couple weeks, I also loathe nassau but most importantly...LOVED the Info on st martin. A hurricane made us miss st martin last Oct on the allure ots, and I booked regal to st martin for Dec 2016.....your info will be invaluable THANK YOU, after your review, I may be more jazzed about st martin than ever :)

I don't have 1st hand knowledge BUT have done research on this issue, digital gift card , is the way to go .... you print out at home, it can be customized to ANY amount over $25, your cabin mate simply....goes to customer service desk on ship and they turn it into a OBC, in his name, on his account :)
-
No, you don't "purchase" the new cruise date you've agreed to sail. Princess simply moves your reservation over to the new cruise, places the amount of the original cruise you purchased as OBC on your shipboard account. You spend whatever you spend from the OBC and the remaining balance is refunded back to you. Hence, a free cruise less your onboard spending.
Wow, a move over deal is AWESOME, I'm new to princess and was reading thread and I am glad you posted your comment....I was NOT understanding correctly, now I see WHAT A DEAL, come on princess give me a call LOL
-
I had a thought about this, as I know what you mean about flights. We are often faced with a... too early or way too late ... to get nonstop flight on SW.
what I did (because we knew we could use refunded $ on another SW flight within THAT year), I really wanted to make the early flight but am not a gambler, so I literally booked both. 1045am flight and 8pm flight (from fll airport). We ended up making the 1045 flight :) so SW counted the 8pm as a, no show and basically gave us a "store credit" for the -$.... and we used the credit later that year.

I TRUELY appreciate the clarification. And found it VERY interesting. Yes you are right, those scenarios never dawned on me. About having laundry day one or for other people. Am glad I asked :)

If I am on a cruise longer than 3 weeks, I figure that there will a lot of Elites on board and plan accordingly. We got the 72 hour notice on a 32 day South America Cruise in February.
I sometimes wonder if this service is sometimes taken advantage of.
WCC
Let me start by saying I'm new to princess and certainly NOT challenging your opinion... I just wasn't clear on what you meant by the last line of your post.
I have been reading princess threads ALOT since this summer and I am intrigued by the loyalty program.
I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on what you meant by "service is taken advantage of" because ,as it stands now, it implies you believe people are doing something wrong ???
-
Ty for the info :)
-
I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend the galleria, I went last year (hadn't been in 20 years) wow was I unhappy. If you don't leave the major stores you'd be ok but the rest was bad and bar-none worst cheesecake factory EVER.
Natural history museum is nice. But traffic is off the charts bad in Houston even on Sunday ,plan for extra time DONT GO WITH NAVIGATION approximate time.
-
Has anyone ever tried to park at Bayport in Houston without a reservation and when they arrived ... parking was full ??
I know...why not just make a reservation BUT to be honest, I am just trying to get info on whether the parking generally is FULL
Thank you

Doesn't show during booking BUT princess.com, ships , the ship you want, the deck you want, THEN THERES A BUTTON TO CHECK MARK On THE RIGHT OF THE SCREEN ABOVE THE .. WHICH COLOR = like bb or da etc .....and will only light up connecting rooms, if that deck has none, redo on another deck

Thank you for the Fox news link.
My prayers are with the members of this ship
