  1. All seafood is "previously" frozen.....it's a law. They freeze it to kill any parasites in the seafood....unless you catch it yourself, it's been frozen right after it's been caught.

That's NOT true, all Local Supermarkets (not mega stores) around here sell FRESH local shrimp, and in the towns with the shrimp boats they have markets that sell it FRESH off the boat during shrimp season. FRESH shrimp ...almost makes up for the hurricanes;)

  2. I have NOT cruised Regal Princess YET, but from reading the threads it seems ....unlike other ships Regal Has a barista within the pastry shop. If this is indeed true someone on board, might have mentioned it to OP during his complaining on the ship. That he could have gotten his coffee there.

  3. Ty for your reply. You said "less the deductible".

Question, as mentioned above my policy thru work is great 100/0 (no deductible, no out of pocket), but that is in-network ONLY ....'out of network' I have an outrageous $8000 deductible , YEAH

So if your truly saying ..."less the deductible", I would still have to cover 1st $8000 and travel Insurance would cover over $8000 till limit??? ( not that a twisted anything cost thousands)

  4. Hopefully like All insurance coverage we don't need it. But knowledge is power so here goes my scenario , to make sure I'm understanding correctly.......

Purchased Princess' insurance ,I'm on the ship I slip and fall, twisting my ankle or having a large cut (or something they're just examples). I go to ship doc and the charges go on my ship acct. and I pay.

When I return home, I contact travel insurance, they tell me to file with bcbs (out of network) . I have great medical insurance BUT my 'out of network' well its bad :(, as soon as bcbs does EOB not paying, simply applying to my 'out of network's deductible I contact travel insurance and they reimburse me for ship's doctor charges???

    Is this correct ???

I mostly ask because this is how I told my DH it works , he is anti-doctor at home so I Really don't see him taking time from his vacation unless it were a necessity.

But if I mis-informed him, he'll repeatedly tell the story to annoy me.

    Ty for the feedback

  5. It's all in your mind that you got sub par service because they don't know you pre paid and what does that got to do with it since you did pay the gratuities.

You may be right, as it was my one and only RCCL cruise, that may be there normal service. It was my only experience in a full suite and I have had far better service in balcony to inside on other lines ( ncl & princess )

Rccl stewards MAY know who prepays :) but since were on a princess board ???

  6. My question is on PRE PAYING the gratuities. I realize I asking for people's opinions but PLEASE don't turn this into ANOTHER auto gratuities debate , please.

I didn't pre pay the gratuities earlier this year for my Dec cruise, at the lower price because I didn't see the merits in having princess hold my money for a year just to save 20 bucks BUT I have started to consider pre paying the gratuities for this dec , it's not a matter of getting the charge over with but more so, a matter of NOT having a cluttered up bill.

The only time I ever pre paid the gratuities (on RCCL) was the only time I feel i got subpar service.

I would love to hear anyone thoughts / pros and cons , on PRE paying.

  7. We have just booked to do 10nts on Royal Princess in March. We will be flying direct into Miami maybe 2 nts pre cruise. As it's our first time cruising the caribbean we have no idea where is best to stay in Miami**Our ship leaves from Fort lauderdale so do we stay miami or FL?

We intend on 2nts pre and post cruise somewhere but have no idea where to start*any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend.... the 2 night PRE cruise stay near port everglades to do the ft lauderdale touristy stuff ( Hyatt place 17th st) and your close to port when you leave, Hyatt has shuttle.....POSTcruise I would stay in coral gables (Biltmore) to do Miami stuff, not a fan of south beach (myself) there are great things to do near coral gables / coconut grove (vizcaya museum)

  8. Caribbean Princess is a copy of an earlier generation Grand class ship (Grand, Golden and Star Princess) just with one more deck of cabins but no additional public areas or features.

The subsequent generation of Crown, Emerald and Ruby added many positive changes needed for a ship with higher passenger capacity that Caribbean didn't: more deck space, larger Louts Spa w/ thermal suite, larger kids/teen clubs, relocated Sabatini's and Wheelhouse Bar to increase their size. The Piazza features, Crown Grill and relocated Casino were added to Caribbean Princess in a significant refit that was deemed necessary only a couple years after she was launched.

So yes I would call Caribbean Princess a stand-alone class of ship. She didn't even get the updated features that were added to Diamond and Sapphire Princess that were being built simultaneously (though in a different shipyard).

I just wanted to say what an excellent and easy to understand explanation. I read your comment.... out of interest because I have Only been on CB so far. TY :)

  9. Boy am I glad I read this thread.

I was planning on waiting till the last day to get my cosmetics to get the 15% off of $250, hoping that everything I wanted was still available. BUT IF I read this thread correctly....I will buy my $250 on the 1st day for 10% discount and return the last day... to get it re-rung for and additional 5% off....and Dont have to worry about them running out :) many thanks :)

  10. A question, I realize I could do as someone suggested and ask for the week's worth of menus. BUT on our last and 1st princess cruise, they had a Bavarian night and FOR US we could not find one thing to order or one thing on the buffet, SO I am specifically interested in booking Crown Grill on Bavarian night, is that a thing that I could specifically ASK for, or would they be like "what?"

  11. Devil's advocate here--the sick person was probably on her trip of a lifetime, too, and she had paid for the cruise before she got sick. I'm sorry you got sick, but this kind of thing can happen in any situation, so avoiding cruising might not be a guarantee. My daughter teaches the first grade, and every fall she catches at least three colds.

I understand your point BUT if the original hacking cough person was going on a "trip of a lifetime" when she became sick....that is what travel insurance is for ......so you can reschedule.

And I wouldn't have had a problem with a sick person BUT a sick person coughing on the back of my neck with NO covering her mouth etc., she's spreading way more than germs, she's spreading bad karma

  12. I booked a cruise Last year during the sip and sail offer. (for this Dec)

The cruise is lower in price now. ( by $75pp)

Although the AIBP is worth 'To Us' less than the $56+ a day. I have figured with coffees and bottle water it is worth around $250pp for my DH and I. I doubt that the cruise would ever be worth Totally Rebooking (i.e. $500 less than we paid)

However my question is.... Will Princess (if I call) give me the difference between what I paid and the new price , in an obc ???? :)

I am before final payment,BUT have already paid total due 100% (long story)

    TY for any feedback :)

  13. Coffee taste is very subjective, however I found the coffee on the Golden princess sailing from Melbourne early this year, tasteless and stale. I am used to fresh Italian espresso coffee so the ship's coffee was unpalatable for me. I tried the espresso and the filter. Next trip I will bring my own coffee and just ask for hot water.

You are right about being subjective, my DH found the dark roast undrinkable on CB.

The espresso based drinks being on the aibp was a huge factor for us getting it, as I would drink coffee and coffee drinks ALL day instead of food or alcohol. But nothing beats a great dark roast and Bailey's :) :)

  14. Well I have a question and I am hoping since this thread is basically for us coffee LOVERS , someone can answer.

I am wondering if what I order at Starbucks everyday, is a drink that can be ordered on Princess , like the flat white or Will it be unknown to non-starbucks people.

I order a .... decaf iced cafe Americano with classic syrup

( basically I am looking for a iced coffee that is decaf, unlike a iced latte which is topped off with milk and way to milky , Iced cafe Americano is an espresso shot topped with water and by ordering the syrup I don't have to try to incorporate sugar into cold coffee)

    Any thoughts ???

  15. I am with those who a) were not horrified by how the lobster was handled and b) think the OP is better accustomed to the services provided by Crystal.

Well my opinion is... was it a matter of hygiene? NO ....but it was LAZY of the wait staff and would have made me feel like, I was in a 'less than' QUALITY establishment.

  16. We are sailing on Feb 5' date=' 2017 on the Regal. Looking at other threads, since we are not big beach or pool people, I have booked a tour with Iguana Mama Tour with lunch, Cable car, cigar rolling, and a dance presentation is $69 USD
