  1. Yes as already said and we have had wine replaced twice during a day, although holding back a bit on the gin. We often do the same. Open house, or open cabin on some cruises with non QG friends and our butlers have always kept us 'refreshed'. to the point of twice a day if needs be. If having a bit of a do, ask the butler for a more substantial pre dinner spread, Sometimes there's so much one almost doesn't feel like dinner. Enjoy
  2. I pre empted an email I received an hour ago from the broker which said they will no longer be able to request OBC for their clients. Nice letter, very helpful with an attachment of a certificate of prof of share holding. They said they had had confirmation that StockPerks should be able to accept a screenshot of my xxxx account, to confirm my holding od CCL shares. They also provided an email address for help from Carnival should it be needed. I had asked this of Carnival yesterday and I got another helpful email back saying if I had difficulty [I did at the time as I hadn't downloaded the Stockperks app] to... send your proof of stocks and details of your booking to shareholders@carnivalukgroup.com no later than 3 weeks before your departure. All rather helpful 🙂 and I am a pleased bunny as I did this all on my own! I will be in danger of being considered tech competent.😅
  3. ShelaghL, do you have an iPad? That works.
  4. Bad nights' sleep last night so I decided to download this Stockperks thingy. Very easy. Ignored and skipped the 'personal info' wanted [as little personal stuff as possible thank you very much] and got a confirmation of download immediately. Downloading my shares account into a pdf, printing it out then photographing it to add it as a file was a faff at 3am but I did it. Waiting to see if that went OK. Far less hassle to phone the broker to do the leg work but, if Stockperks is the way Carnival are going, I thought I'd better get with the programme. Upshot is, if I, a tech idiot can do it in the middle of the night, then most people can. Might be famous last words so I'll see. 🙂
  5. That's interesting. I will follow that up. Thanks
  6. I'm sorry to hear that. You will not be the only one who does not have the technology. If it's of any use, when I phoned the broker, they diarised my requests and will send the required information as and when needed at the appropriate time. I will check on this, again, at the appropriate time. Could you do the same, that is of course, if you still want to retain the extra obc the shares 'give'?
  7. Thanks. I am assuming though, the company will have some regard for those who, for one reason or another, would not be able to complete this online. I have a few elderly friends, P&O aficionados, who would no more put any personal information with regards to anything remotely financial online, than fly to the moon. Internet banking...what's that etc etc. Yes it's the C21st but not everyone is C21st internet competent.
  8. Nothing wrong with that although the purists on here would say otherwise 😀. Maybe an upgrade to a pre-tied as opposed to clip on might be in order.
  9. Have you tried? I wonder how all the folk without the technology to use this App, will manage. I have the technology, although possibly not the know how, but will continue using the same method I started with, a year ago. It doesn't seem broken, so I won't try and fix it. 🙂
  10. We got a last minute corner deck four, now 4189, to join a five day cruise with friends many years ago. Not the best cabin we've ever had. Food smells from the Britannia restaurant The notorious QV vibration issue felt through the pillows at night [to be fair, she did go in for pod repairs a month or so after our cruise] The bathroom facilities had a shower curtain and the loo wasn't separate to the bath and shower. The vibrations might have ceased and the Britannia might have a more effective ventilation procedure but I would have thought the bathroom would basically be the same unless a shower door has been installed. The plus point is the depth of the balcony with regards to any deck five overhang, gives a choice of sun and shade when the ship and sun are at the correct angle.
  11. Whilst you're there, and I'm not sure if photos are still up on display these days but if they are, have a look at the poses and see which ones you like and which ones you definitely don't like.
  12. Is Queen Anne really suited to voyages with lots of sea days? Jeepers Hoveto , I hope so. we have a few QAs booked and we often make a port day, a quasi sea day.
  13. We seemed to have had a few mutual cruises 🙂 and a mutual 'sunshine' cruise cancelled in '22 if I remember correctly. We will cruise with QV again but not this year. Sadly.
  14. OBC Have some left? Use it or lose it...sort of. Assign it to the crew and in my view, it will be assigned to crew coffers. Leave any remaining OBC on your account and it definitely won't go anywhere other than back into Cunard's coffers. Not that it happens very often but I'll take my chance with the assigning.
  15. My comment was in reply to OBC still left at the end of a cruise and how we use/get rid of it. It wasn't meant to be any other than that and definitely nothing to do with 'charges' so I'll leave it at that.
  16. and having also spoken to staff, I have my own view of staff remuneration so my positive assumption is just as valid as your seemingly negative one. I often wonder if some staff play to the passengers preconceived ideas on a few things. My interactions with staff usually shed light from a positive angle. Funny that!
  17. Good for you D&N. The standard Cunard pose - couple standing [often on the main atrium steps], lady with hand on man's chest/man upright with hand in pocket is awful. Unimaginative and can come across as quite cringeworthy. I'd try and get a fellow passenger or friend to take some photos and at the very least, sit on the stairs for informality and leave the 'Classic Cunard' pose to die a death.
  18. Interesting. There's an almost complete overhang from deck six now. We can still see part of deck four's balcony from deck six so I'm assuming the deck five overhang isn't as 'obtrusive'.
  19. On one particular ten night cruise, we had $$$$s to 'get rid of'. I really tried my best and family and girlfriends had exceptional Christmas presents that year, but I still had some left and so I went to the front desk and had the remainder assigned to staff gratuities. Better that than leave it in Cunard's coffers.
  20. This was from July'11 on our very first Cunard cruise. Luckily, the weather improved once we got into the North Sea. 🙂
  21. We preferred the corner cabins aft on deck five but here's a photo of what is now 5191 and its balcony. I peeked in and took them as we set off to disembark so it was rushed.
  22. At my grandmother's too and if we were very [un]lucky, tinned strawberries and carnation milk. Ugh!
  23. I'm late to the party. 😀 I'd never heard of it until we used to spend quite a bit of time in Toronto visiting with friends. The one [and only] time I had three one evening, I learnt its potency but I soldiered on and its my favourite after dinner drink on QV. By the way, when my mother enquired what my favourite after dinner drink was, she was astonished [she knew me well] when I said iced tea!😁
  24. I thought along the same lines exlondoner. Doesn't matter if it's $7 or $70 etc, I'd like to be able to choose where we spend it. As you indicated, we can still eat in a perk eatery should we want to and dining with friends from another restaurant has been one of the reasons to do so in the past but equally, I could have had a few more L.I.I.T. in lieu when not utilising it because as a well known British supermarket slogan goes, 'every little helps', towards our final bar bill in this case. 😅 All moot though as we're not on the Maiden so I guess we'll give one of the QA perk eateries a go for a nosey. Looking forward to the whole experience.
  25. and I'd need the intervention of alcohol to induce a day time nap. 🙂 That or a really 'worthy' book to read, which is why I go for very lightweight holiday reading. Talking of which, I hope QA has as good a library as her sisters. I might load my iPad and Kindle, just in case I'm disappointed. 🤞
