  1. The fort is owned by the government of Bermuda. There are several forts in St. George all owned by Bermuda and they are part of the World Heritage Site. Not sure that they would make any money. Both times I was there I was the only visitor. As I mentioned there was a restaurant next door which is planned to reopen. Tobacco Bay is about a 7 or 8 minute walk and the concession there is another option for drinks and food. You don’t have to walk back to the ferry. A taxi back is pretty cheap. I paid $ 8. Would be a little higher with the new fares.
  2. BUEI is okay if you have extra time but it is pretty much educational geared to middle school and elementary school younger students.
  3. Cost you about what I would expect. I probably would have had lunch in town at Wahoos or The Wharf. Tobacco Bay is typical beach food not what I would call a restaurant. We walk from there to town and have lunch. Next to the fort we used to stop at Blackbeard’s Hideaway which is next to the fort. There are plans to renovate that restaurant and reopen it.
  4. I have only seen some sections but the Railway Trail is not a bicycle trail although there are sections you can ride on. It is not continuous. On Bermuda roads there are no bike lanes. They are one lane winding roads with no shoulders. The only area without a lot of congestion is St. George. I have not done it but I could visualize bicycle riding there. I would be afraid of riding elsewhere without a group of riders.
  5. You get them at the concession where they rent the chairs. As I recall they are there to use to access the beach then return for others to use not to rent for the day. There are only 2 or 3.
  6. I found it pretty watchable and paid attention after the into remarks. Pretty much convinced much sold me on doing Galapagos with Celebrity.on Flora.
  7. I move the chairs a little if there is space and that kind of confuses them. Most of the time they never appear so I don’t know when they were planning to use the chairs. We usually vacate the chairs when we go to lunch. We don’t try to save them for the afternoon. I did observe a huge screaming between two senior ladies on Century over chairs. The lady who reserved the chairs early showed up around noon…..
  8. You can't bring bikes on the buses.
  9. You can bring your own umbrella or chairs. If it gets windy the lifeguards will make you stop using it. I have seen that happen with both bring your own and rented beach umbrellas.
  10. A price increase from $45. 😮
  11. Port is reopening for Cruise Ships in and out on May 25. https://wtop.com/baltimore/2024/05/cruise-ships-set-to-sail-in-and-out-of-baltimore-again/
  12. That has been gone a very long time. The Club Med which had been a Holiday Inn was demolished in 2008 and all that ended sometime before that. I was there when they had food but I don’t recall what year, likely 2001 or 2002. (I don’t recall a parrot)
  13. If no one is in the chairs, no one around and there is no stuff on there you just have take the clips off, give the clips to a pool attendant as a lost and found item and take the chair.
  14. I think a lot of people don't realize that the attendants put out clean towels and that is why they are on the chairs early. If there are no personal items on the chairs they are not reserved.
  15. I have not run into any hotels or resorts in the last few years that do not have free internet and I have been in a lot. Sometimes we have to join their loyalty program to get it but they have it free, Starlink for ships is less expensive than what they had before. That is why the cruise lines installed Starlink in a few months after it was approved by the regulators. High end cruise lines are including it free. What it probably will take for free internet is one of the mainstream lines to give free internet as a competitive advantage.
  16. The crew should not be made scapegoats. The bridge infrastructure was outdated.
  17. Likely the new bridge will be cable stayed. The photo is of one proposal. MDOT will be issuing a request for proposals so what they choose may or may not be the proposal in the image.
  18. There is public access to the beach but the public can not use the hotel amenities that are on the beach. There are no chair rentals or facilities for the public.
  19. On their Instagram it says they were opening May 4 for the season. I can see it on the Port Webcam.
  20. Even though there are no signs removing it is not allowed. The policy is for all of Bermuda.
  21. Reagan National has an America store and another store for the DC area featuring DC, Maryland and Virginia.
  22. In Texas both US and Texas flags are everywhere. It has to do withTexas with Texas being a republic before it was a state. My condo has both a US flag and a Texas flag on the roof. Back east in Maryland we had no flags flying on the roof. On Royal cruises out of Texas it is a good marketing move.
