  1. Most take two days as that is the efficient way to schedule 7 day cruises for the two berths for the most ships. The Meagavilla managed not to conflict with a NCL, Celebrity or Royal ship. Those lines ahve contracts so they have priority for dock space. The other cruise lines get the leftover.slots at the Dockyard.
  2. The search feature is on iPads too if you hold view Cruise Critic in landscape orientation.
  3. They use the same IT. My online user name and password are the same for Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. They are both brands of the Royal Caribbean Group.
  4. That parts easy. The two loyalty programs have reciprocity so they already know your status in each program.
  5. Celebrity was never a premium cruise line it was always an upscale mainstream cruise line in my opinion. When I started cruising the upscale mainstream lines were Celebrity, HAL and Princess. After Carnival bought Princess they dropped below Celebrity and HAL between RCL and Celebrity and HAL. Carnival and NCL are budget mainstream cruise lines. Celebrity has now dropped to the Princess level and might drop down to RCL level if they continue their current course.
  6. They won't combine programs. Anything said on ships is meaningless. All change comes from HQ. Why would they. And their crappy IT could never figure it out. It would be a hassle for both them and for us. hey would have to recalculate points to create a hybrid program as each program calculates points differently. If they did though we certainly will have less benefits. Everything both lines do is cut, cut, cut.
  7. It is not a strategy. It is a meltdown. It is a sign of a business in trouble.
  8. Problems with the ramp. https://bernews.com/2023/08/temporary-suspension-orange-route-ferry/
  9. Only if they are from EU countries. How would you prove that? Since the ship is foreign flagged what is in the link may not apply. I think it would be a waste of your travel visiting European ports not to make time for lunch and sampling the local cuisine. That is part of travel not just seeing the sites.
  10. If you can’t even walk to Calico Jacks I think you might want to get a Mobility Scooter if you ever return to Bermuda.
  11. Even though I don't prefer AI I think them removing gratuities from the AI is a big negative. If I wanted AI I would want it to be all included.
  12. I worked with the public before I retired and heard this so often. “Someone told them” which I knew was untrue.
  13. Same here. That is why I always run the numbers. I think the most I ever spent on alcohol was $40. I never liked any of the AI from the beginning when they offered the different AI perks. I had to take it once as part of a group I was in but I try to avoid the AI fares. It is different for everyone.
  14. I always book without AI if possible. Resident rates and Senior Rates are a better deal. I don’t need a drink package as I am a moderate drinker and I get some complementary drinks from 5-7. I don’t believe in booking for convenience. I run the numbers.
  15. Not any that are worth much. It is not until you get to Diamond on Royal or Elite on Celebrity that there are some meaningfull perks. If you want perks book a suite. That is where all the perk action is these days.
  16. The apps could be completely different. Also Apple is very strict about privacy and tracking. Since the app is intended to sell cruises perhaps there was code that could not be used on the Apple version. Since I don’t have any Android devices and all my family members and friends have iPhones I can’t check. In the US unlike the rest of the world Apple is dominant. The iPhone has 57% of phone market share in the US. The app
  17. It is just using an in-app browser. That is another layer. It is not more efficient in this app. The old discontiued app Cruise Critic was more efficient and got data directly from the forum software by a plug in to the forum software. The old app was great if you had a typical slow internet connection on a cruise. There is no limitation to iPhone apps displaying in landscape nor any personal settings. The developer of the app has not coded it to display in landscape on iPhones. They can change that. Maybe they will in a future version. Home screen shortcuts will continue as before because the app can't change those so there is no disadvantage to using the app. It won't change my home screen shortcuts. There is no advantage to using the app but there is an advantage to reading Cruise Critc on my web browser direct over an in-app browser so I will continue to do so direct in Safari.
  18. Or they went to Hamilton for Harbour Night. I have photos from Harbor Night in 2015.
  19. Things have changed but they did not have parades every evening in 2015. I was there in June that year.
  20. I have not seen a nightly parade either anywhere in Bermuda in the many years I have gone there.
  21. I do not find it to be snappier. Since what it takes you to is the web it just adds another layer. Since it goes the web pages it should have the same snap. Also the type is very small. On the mobile web browser pages I turn my iPhone to landscape and the type is a little larger. This app does not display in landscape. I also have several shortcuts on my homepage besides to the community forums page to my custom streams. I will probably stay with the browser experience.
