  1. Find the actual tour operator. Don’t use Viator. Don’t go through an intermediary. With the actual operator you have someone you can contact direct if there are any issues. You can find the actual operators by googling the descriptions.
  2. You can't use it that way as documentation for a closed loop cruise.
  3. You can use it instead of a drivers license as photo ID but you would still need a birth certificate.
  4. You will need to prearrange a taxi for that early time to guarantee a taxi. We have been able to get guest services or concieges on the ship to call a taxi but YMMV depending on the ship and your guest relations. I have the number of two taxi companies, Bermuda Island taxi (441-295-4141) and BTA Dispatch (441-296-2121) that we have called but it has been a few years since we have had to call to prearrange a taxi so I don't know if those numbers are current. A taxi to Somerset would be about $20 plus tip. While some taxis take credit cards many only take cash.
  5. I always seem to find something at The English Sports Shop on Front St.
  6. An Alaska roundtrip out of Seattle will have the lowest odds of having to fly home. Besides the odds of an emergency being low there will likely only be one port stop in Canada to comply with the PVSA.
  7. There are only a couple of cruise lines that require a passport anyway. They are not mass market cruise lines. They are niche cruise lines like Oceania and Regent.
  8. Even when the cruise line site is clear about what is required people being people they find ways to confuse themselves. I see that in their posts to CC. Also pretty common the cruise line web site is clear but they are nervous about it and call the cruise line and the rep tells gives them the wrong answer. Some posters say call the cruise line but the ruise line call center employees give bad answers.
  9. There is a playground outside the entrance to Snorkel Park. Another playground inside the grounds of the National Museum. There is an entrance fee to Museum. That is the Keep. Inside the Keep there is also Dolphin Quest. There is Bermuda Fun Golf near the Snorkel Park. Longtail Water Park berthed at the dock. In the center of the Dockyard is a large grassy area called the Victualing Yard.
  10. One is a pass and the other is a booklet of single ride tickets. The transportation pass is based on days. They sell one day, two day, three day etc. passes good on unlimited buses and ferries for the validity period. The clock starts ticking the first day it is punched and the pass expires midnight on its last day. If you buy a two day pass on Wednesday and it is punched at 1:00 pm Wednesday it will expire at Thursday Midnight. The tickets come in a booklet good for single rides on buses or ferries and each ticket is only for one ride. If you have a group the ticket booklet can be efficient. And any left over don't expire. If you travel again to Bermuda you can use any leftover tickets. I think the booklets are intended for Bermuda residents who depend on buses. That is probably why they are not sold at the Visitor Info Centre at the Dockyard but anyone can buy the booklets at post offices and the ferry and bus terminal in Hamilton.
  11. John Bull in Nassau is a pretty good store to shop at for high end watches. They are authorized dealers for many brands including Rolex.
  12. I didn't book a Viking River cruise because of the advnnce payment and I won't book a Viking Ocean cruise if they have the same.
  13. Some people don't think it is worth the bother. My friend who's steamer was confiscated didn't pick it up but she was going home not onward with a land trip. If it were mine I would have pcked it up.
  14. Texas only issues Real ID. Renewals and new residents have to get Real ID. You have to bring the right documents. Texas has a website with a checklist that to run through I used when I moved here a couple of years ago that worked pretty well. So no problem when I went to the DMV. Funny thing was that four or five people when I was there did not bring their glasses for the vision test and could not complete and had to go home and get their glasses. My previous state Maryland if you were a US citizen or legal resident you had to get Real ID as a new resident or at the next in person renewal. In Maryland you can only get non Real ID if you are undocumented. Texas won't issue a DL without proof of legal presence. As far as Passport format I think that is by interenational treaties or an international agency. They have to be machine readable. Individual countries can allow no passport or whatever for example some countries in the western hemisphere accept passport cards and EDL's. Or birth certificates. A card is feasible to replace books if all countries agree to accept.
  15. The phone rep wrong which is not unusual with Celebrity reps.. It is already in writing on Celebrity's website that a passport is not required. “U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a government-issued birth certificate and laminated government issued picture ID, denoting photo, name and date of birth. A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original or notarized or certified copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issues by DOS, or Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.” @Ferry Watcher
  16. That won't ever happen because drivers licenses are issued by states. That is a "states right" under the US constitution. Aso many Americans don't want a fedeal ID or internal passport for philosophical or political reasons. The reason that Real ID has been delayed going into effect is because many states did not want it. So they did not issue Real ID DL.The only reason states reluctantly gave in is because the federal government can regulate who gets on airplanes and their citizens would be upset if they could not get on airplanes. Real ID will have no other use than domestic air travel and some federal buildings. Some states only issue Real ID and others offer it as an option. The last two states I have lived in US citizens had to get Real ID. Some states you have to pay more for it. The only future problem is that if Real ID ever does go in effect some people will show up at airports clueless that they need Real ID, EDL, passport or passport card. Could be a mess.
  17. You can bring your own to Horseshoe and any other public beach.
  18. You have the Princess requirement wrong. On Princess a minor is required to have a passport if only traveling with one parent. Celebrity does not have that requirement. Here are Celebrity’s requirements for closed loop cruises. “U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a government-issued birth certificate and laminated government issued picture ID, denoting photo, name and date of birth. A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original or notarized or certified copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issues by DOS, or Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.”
  19. This is the second thread you started asking if she needed a passport and the answer is the same. She can cruise with a birth certificate.
  20. People should stay away from the AT&T ship cellular plans unless they really know what they are doing and know how their phone uses data. Most people won’t have the knowledge. There could be surprise overages. Using the the AT&T and Verizion Travel passes in ports there are no surprises and I have done this on some port intensive cruises without buying a Voom package and had sufficient connectivity. But you have to remember to put your phone in airplane mode before the ship departs your ports to avoid accidental connection to Cellular at Sea when the ship is 12 miles out to sea.
  21. A major eruption affects air lights. This is a minor eruption and seems to be easing from latest reports.
