  1. The volcano is south of Reykjavik. It is a minor eruption that happens often. It likely won’t effect your cruise.
  2. They store them and give you a claim check. You will be able to pick them up at the end of your cruise.
  3. Bermuda, the Dockyard is walkable and has some shops but you really want to get out to other places in Bermuda and see the island. The ferries are right therein the Dockyard and run to Hamilton and St. George. There is easy minibus transportation to Horseshoe beach. Also public buses. Abundent taxis. There is no need to do an excursion.
  4. Time to move on from mass market lines I guess. One reason I prefer Celebrity among the mass market lines is because of no smoking in the casino. I won't go into a casino if there is smoking. If Celebrity allows vaping which is smoking as far as I am concerend while I will still cruise on Celebrity it won't be my prefered mass market cruise line. For Bermuda cruises for example I will add NCL as an option. And so on. I have had pretty good cruises on Princess. So I would chose them again for a lot of itineraries. HAL too.
  5. It would be practical if they had a place to charge. Since they have not figured out how to find a public charger which actually are all over but not dependable they probably should drive the gas car. That is not unusual as most EV owners charge at home and not at public chargers. Going on a cruise they would probably want to be certain of a good charging place. Really only Tesla owners have good charging stations. If they had a Tesla it would be so easy.
  6. Probably the ship WiFi. If you are only going to text or make voice calls it might be a good option. If you surf the web, do Facebook you could easily go over in 24 days. Send an email with attachments…And there are apps on your phone that use data in the background. Most of the time at home I am on my home WiFi yet I still use at least 4-5 Gigabytes per month.
  7. I don't think you are not going to get a non private excursion for 30 people or less. The two companies that have excursions out of the Dockyard are Rising Son and Restless Native. Both get positive reviews. They have been around for years and no horror stories. I believe Rising Son has a capacity of 80 and Restless Native has a capacity of 50. https://www.restlessnative.bm https://www.risingsoncruises.com/tours/
  8. Hamilton. You can take the ferry there and buy them at the ferry terminal or bus station. Of course you will have to pay the $5 to get there. Post offices too but none in the Dockyard.
  9. There are apps that will give you the location of charging stations.
  10. We have had bad noises twice on cruises caused by defective machinery. Both times were were moved. It did take persistence with guest relations. First time it was on Celebrity and they claimed they were fully booked. After we talked to a supervisor in guest relations the fully booked turned into a list of nine cabins to pick from. There are always no shows so there are options. I looked at three and picked one. Our cabin attendent helped us move.
  11. You must have been getting a Real ID license at your renewal. They are strict about the documents required for Real ID proof of identity.
  12. Tartar sauce is an ingredient. Mayonnaise is an ingredient in tartar sauce. You could ask them to make it without the sauce.
  13. Birth certificate and drivers license will work. Real ID is something that would be needed as ID for domestic airline flights in May 2025 if it is not postponed again. Real ID is not needed for cruises.
  14. For that sailing you don’t need a passport only government issued photo ID and a birth certificate. Always better to have a passport for any international travel but with only one stop in Canada you are probably okay. Your odds of an emergency need to fly home from that one port are low. Many do go without although it is generally not wise. Real ID is meaningless for cruises and the requirement to have ReaL ID for domestic flights does not go into effect until May 2025 so I don’t know why you are pointing it out.
  15. You do kinow that DCL does not have casinos?
  16. Of course not. There are procedures to get temporary or emergency passports. She is not going to be as one poster said terribly stuck. When they allowed birth certificates for closed loop cruises they discussed that there might be emergencies and put procedures in place. Hundreds of thousands of US citizens take closed loop cruises without passports. It will take some extra steps but they won't be stuck. And the odds of an emergency are low. They should go ahead and take their grandaughter if the passport does not arrive.
  17. They are both on the South Shore Road. I have never seen fish sandwiches at Harbour Night but being a street fair the vendors are not the same every time. The Portuguese Donuts are always there and I recommend those. There is a restaurant on Front St., Rosa's Cantina that has a reputation for a great fish sandwich. I never tried one there but they won the best award a few times.
  18. No Yelp in Bermuda. I read the TripAdvisor reviews and the 45 minute wait one person reported was on a Sunday and it was packed. Woody’s is a local favorite. I looked at the Art Mel’s reviews and they are still pretty positive. So there is the hassle of getting to it Art Mel’s and no seating versus seating at Woodys and easy to get to…..I think the fish sandwiches at both are pretty good. I don’t think the 45 minute wait at Woody’s is usual but I can see the allure of Art Mel’s based on reputation. Take your pick. There are also great fish sandwiches at other restaurants in Bermuda.
  19. Where did you read the bad reviews? The reviews I have read of Woody's were all good.
  20. I recall long threads on Cruise Critic where smokers argued that second hand smoke did not harm non smokers. They had "research" to prove it. LOL. Addicts make all kinds of rationalizations
  21. Mt suggestion is take a ferry to Hamilton and then a taxi to Art Mei's. It is a short ride. Ask the driver to wait as there is not seating then have the taxi drop you off at the waterfront park near the ferry terminal where you can eat your sandwich. It is worth the ride if you want to say you had the fish sandwich at Art Mel's. Alternativly you can take a taxi or bus to Woody's which is not far from the Dockyard and they have seating. Which is better is subjective, Since it is much easier to get to Woodys going to Art Mel's gives people bragging rights. I like walking but I would not walk to Art Mel's.
  22. I can't make a recommendation based on experience but there are a bunch of options. The problem with surprising your DH is that there are different types of fishing experiences. I suggest not surprising him and letting him pick. Island Tour Centre https://www.islandtourcentre.com offers Jolly Rodger Reef Fishing. More options are on the Bermuda Tourist website at https://www.gotobermuda.com/things-to-do/fishing
  23. The few that I know who vape are vaping THC. Also none at that age are interested in cruises….
