Happy & Healthy New Year to all! We’ll celebrate with Chinese take out & maybe a glass of wine. We haven’t gone out on New Years in many, many years. We’ll walk outside at 9pm to watch the 5 fireworks shot off top of Pikes Peak (it’s the 100th anniversary of the AdAMAn Club) a group that climb Pikes Peak to shoot off the fireworks. They have a big show at midnight, we haven’t stayed up for that in years…maybe this year

My EGD went ok, ulcer has healed! Hiatal hernia is still there, I’m scheduled for several more tests in January. Hooefuky it can be corrected with medication instead of surgery. we’ll get Chinese food for dinner (take out) & maybe a glass of good vino). happy & healthy new year to all. Melissa, you’ll kick off the celebration!!

Melissa, good luck with your LAST chemo!! Hope you breeze right thru it Lois, great itinerary. So many of my favorite islands. On the volunteering, start small it can overwhelm even if you don’t think it is! Kat, good you’re there, a less experienced hospitality manager might have let it go to keep the peace. Rules are rules, even for the ‘entitled’ Janet, sounds like a fun group you have. My Mom had a group like that it was called Old & New (no one ever admitted they were old). It was a group for ‘good works’ Sharon, thanks. You’ve have an eventful year i, too, miss Debbie. Melody

Laurie, we were low 30s on Christmas Day. We all ran outside & took our pictures than ran back inside & had hot cocoa (peppermint schnapps was available) or homemade eggnog (Crown Royal salted caramel was available) to warm up. Our coldest days were Thursday & Friday before Christmas, -35 with windchill & actual temps of -16 to -18. Unbelievable weather that Buffalo has had this year, even by Buffalo’s standards. Our city’s idea of snow removal is ‘think spring’. Side roads do not get plowed unless there is more than 6-8” of snow. We usually wait till after Jan 6 to take down Christmas decorations but this year we’re going to do it today & tomorrow (as weather looks to be conducive [snow] to being indoors & I'm having an EGD on Friday to decide what’s going to happen with my reoccurring hiatal hernia. I enjoyed Lord & Taylor, I really miss Filenes (especially their basement). Melody

I’m having an EGD on Friday to decide what’s going to happen to my reoccurring hiatal hernia. Crummy way to end the year! & my foot surgery is scheduled for Jan 23. My knee scooter is awaiting me in my spare room. Nough about me!! Lois you leave on 5 Jan? What is your itinerary? Kat, sounds like a pretty good gig you have going on. Sherry, safe travels home to FL Sharon, you’ve been mighty busy Melissa hope your treatments are almost completed I hope everyone has a safe & happy & healthy New Year. Melody

If they’re Nike they’re likely running shorts, but I’ve used them for swim shorts for years

I thought you’d enjoy the drink picture. I was able to maintain the happy face all the way to the end! The concierge was laughing at my efforts. Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. We’re off today for our soup extravaganza with our oldest daughter. I’m making crockpot pasta fagiole (house smells great at almost 5am). Son & grandson are making 10 lbs of Swedish meatballs (I think they’re hoping for leftovers!!!), oldest daughter will make chicken tortilla soup & middle daughter is making cream of chicken & wild rice soup & homemade eggnog (we’ll bring salted caramel Crown Royal). There will be oodles of homemade treats too. Melody

We just got off Harmony. Ate one evening in Bistro. We were not impressed. Buffet for apps, salads & desserts. Waited forever (almost an hour) for entree & then it was cold.

I have a love-hate relationship with water shoes.

My husband & I wear Keens water sandals with a covered toe & very good grip on the soles. After our last cave excursion I think everyone else on that excursion will buy them too. The caves were quite slippery & we were the only ones that didn’t fall or slip (some folks had some nasty cuts) -

I have a jewelry travel case that’s great for long necklaces & statement pieces. I also use a zippered box for rings & earrings. I tried the straw trick once & hubs threw it out thinking it was trash
