I’m pleased (thrilled more like it) to report that Les is starting to be more like himself. Doc gave him lidocaine patches to put on the SI joint at night. That coupled with the cortisone shot have made a marked difference for him. He’s using a sturdy walking stick now but deciding if he’ll take the mobility walker on the cruise, 🙄. He’s got another week on the antibiotics. We’ll get the results on the gb mri on the 31st (unless something is very abnormal). I pulled out the suitcases yesterday & will finish packing next week (except hanging stuff). my bday is Monday so the kids have decreed we’re having a party on Sunday afternoon, they’re bringing everything. I’ll get more wine! thanks everyone for the positive comments on Les’s recovery, it really helped. Melody

Had Les back to doc yesterday, cortisone shot in sacroiliac joint & almost instant relief! Hope it lasts!!! He actually slept in bed last night. Ortho surgeon for shoulder today & mri for gallbladder tomorrow. Hopefully he’s headed back to normal active smiley Les we leave in 18 days, he’s determined, I need to pack!!! thanks to everyone for the words of concern & comfort. Melody

Anita, glad that everything is falling into place!!! Les is having a devil of a time with this back/sciatic pain. He was very resistant to the walker, but says ‘ok, it really, really helps, especially with the torn shoulder’ (we go to ortho surgeon on Thursday). I got the walker on Amazon fully expecting I’d return it, we’re keeping it. . He’s determined to go on this cruise (I’m just really hopeful that we can go!!). Talk with captains club host on first cruise they’ll take care of it. Personally I’d do a cruise prior & have the Elite plus benefits for the transatlantic

Kat, every piece of living room furniture we have (on both levels) is a power recliner!! I’ll get him back into our family doc tomorrow, tge sciatic pain & weakness is very troubling. Well Les has already had a year. Torn shoulder (surgeon for evaluation on this coming Thursday & hopefully a cortisone shot) until we get home the end of February. Last Saturday he had an allergic reaction to the pain medication for his shoulder. Then he developed a nasty, severe kidney infection that has caused terrible sciatic pain & leg weakness necessitating my getting him a mobility walker after he took a nasty fall in the bathroom this morning. I ordered it from Amazon at 8am & it was just delivered (expedited shipping for $5). Les grumped & groaned then said ok, it really helps. we leave for our b2b cruise in 24 days, hopefully he’ll be back to feeling well by then. Melody

Amazon came thru admirably & he’s now the grumpy owner of a bright blue walker (with seat). He’s already said, ok this is easier than canes or crutches.

The saga continues! Les took a nasty fall in bathroom this morning, luckily didn’t hit his head & landed on the shoulder that we go to ortho surgeon next week. I’ve ordered him a mobility walker. The pain from the kidney is causing severe sciatica down his left leg & it keeps going out on him.

We get Peacock free from our phone provider or we wouldn’t have it either. I don’t like the trend for games to be on pay channels either.

Glad I’ve laid in supplies. It’s going to be wicked cold till next Wednesday. -10F this morning (shd go up to 20F) tonight thru Tuesday is supppsed to be -20 -30F with highs of -10F. Going to be a good weekend for football (Go Miami), casseroles & Netflix!!!

One mega antibiotic in & he looks better & says he’s feeling better too. I made chicken escarole (but I used baby spinach) soup & he ate a whole soup bowl & then asked for a couple of little Halo tangerines! First actual food he’s eaten since Friday. Thank goodness for Gatorade & protein drinks. thanks for the positive vibes all!! Melody

Rains/pours. Had Les back in doc this am. Major kidney infection & low Bp (70/50). Now on mega antibiotics & napping peacefully in his chair. There’s the back pain, chills/shakes. ER totally missed it. He should start feeling like his smiley self by the weekend. Of course this weekend is going to be brutal. Sunday is forecast to be -20-30F with a high of -10F. Good time to be inside watching the football playoffs. Melody

Not wanted but expected

Les had his mri this am & I already have results. Major tears front & back. Now his hip is giving him a fit too. Hopefully we’ll be able to cruise (in 26 days!). Surgeon appt on 18th hoping for cortisone shot & a sling to get him through. thanks all for caring. Melody

Kat, he’s on 800mg prescription ibuprofen. It was the pain med that thru him into trouble. Severe chills (moved his recliner about 3’), n/v. Zofran in the Iv at hospital. We’re getting the snow that missed you

Kat, Les is planning on sucking the shoulder up till after cruuse (I’m more concerned about his biceps tendon than the shoulder). Now the gallbladder, that might need a look before the cruise. Big thing is we’ll have to find a pain med that he can take!

Spent the day in the ER with Les. Thought it was an allergic reaction to pain killer for shoulder. Turned out to be a gallbladder attack (severe chills, vomiting etc). Good news, no flu, covid or RSV. Lungs clear, ct scan shows inflamed gallbladder but not emergency. Home now & he’s asleep. I, on the other hand, am enjoying a vodka & tonic!!! Melody

Xrays today. It’s either a fractured shoulder/collarbone combo or torn rotator cuff. Won’t know till mri (& they can’t do them together!). We cruise in 31 days. I’m going to be toting suitcases!!

Lois good to get rid of the stone before it causes you those terrible issues again thanks for well wishes for Les, he’s mighty uncomfortable

Must be the season for bum shoulders. Les has done something (maybe pinched nerve) doc for him tomorrow. At least my retina appt today was without incident!
