  1. I have always used my shareholder credit to buy cruise next. It costs me nothing. Then I can use them to book a future cruise with no money down.
  2. That was one of the funnest things we did while traveling in South Africa! We spent the whole afternoon there. Thanks for the memories
  3. They do not service the room unless requested ever since covid. We didn't have the service at all but left $20. Once I saw the room attendent in the hall and got new towels and a few other things and gave her $10. Our room was comped. We also do that a lot on the cruise ship. We don't need service 2 times a day, or even once. We always say no turn down and sometimes we just tell our steward to take the day off. We can reuse the towels we have and I usually make the bed anyway.
  4. We just spent 4 days in Vegas. Because of this discussion, I paid very close attention to our tips so I could compare. We tipped 20% or more to everyone who gave us any service at all. Our tips did not add up to $40 + dollars a day, not even close..........it's too much! I was okay with $30, but not $40.
  5. I am just not posting on that RC anymore. It's not worth it. But, I agree with Billco....who wants to be on a cruise with people like that?
  6. $300 more for a 30 day cruise for us! We usually do not cruise unless it is 30 days or more, 48 being the longest. Grats would be $1920 for a 48 day cruise..........for 2 people. That's a lot! We usually only eat in the buffet, carry on our own luggage, do not drink, only have service one time a day! We are not needy people and and require only minimal service. Nope.
  7. Yes, to all of the above. You sound like you are fun to cruise with.
  8. Loving your report, what a great trip! We might be doing the same one soon. I have been on Princess and NCL about the same amount of days 170+ and I find NCL to have better food, and nicer guests. I have also loved the shows on NCL and just overal a better experience. I have sailed on Princess about 60 days post covid and just got a refund of FCD, that's how much I have not liked Princess recently. Your sailing is odd because of where you are, so maybe that is why there has been some disappointment with certain things. But, I think once you have finished this incredible cruise and go back to Princess post covid.........who knows. FYI, I think we are on the eclipse cruise together.
  9. You are able to use OBC for gratuities? We have never been able to and always use for cruisenext. Do tell........Thanks. Also, that is a big hike, I agree. We usually only eat in the buffet and never get any one on one service(don't drink) except our room steward and even then we don't want turn down service. So, paying $40 a day to have your bed made and serve yourself food in the buffet is a lot. We were okay with $30, but $40 might be the breaking point for us.
  10. When?? Every Princess cruise I have been on the "good" shows are packed and we needed to show up 30-45 minutes early. Even when we cruised post covid with 1/2 full ships the shows were packed.
  11. I am booked on this cruise and most of the people on our roll call are really into this cruise. But, life happens, so you will probably get a cabin. Heck, I might even cancel mine, haha. Good luck.
  12. Interesting.....when we were on the Island for 30 days, the tables(just on our section) doubled every day. I wonder why sometimes they use tables and sometimes they don't? 1/2 of our hall had covid at the end of the cruise from the amount of tables in the hall.
  13. Thanks, I thought so. I had my husband looking at the website now. I will check out Chase!
  14. Interesting.....to those that say costco has trip insurance.......it used to, but I don't think it does now. Where did you find the information? Thanks.
  15. We had escaped covid until our 30 cruise on Island Princess in Sept. We both tested positive the day we got home. We were pretty sick and still have lingering illness. Both healthy, youngish(60) and fully vaxed. If you don't get covid on a long cruise it is a miracle in my opinion. But, it was still a fun cruise.
  16. Most of the Princess theaters only have 650 seats or less.
  17. We have had the opposite experience. We have sailed about 170+ days on each Princess and NCL. We have always had enrichment lectures and performers on NCL (before covid). In fact on Nov 2019 33 day cruise from Honolulu to Sydney, we had local performers at every island we visited. On Princess recently in the Baltic and Iceland (30 days) there was not a bit of information or any local performers. Well, they did have a star gazer expert onboard who did host a few nights trying to see the Northern lights. In my personal experience, NCL has been much better. I guess it just depends on each sailing.
  18. On the Island and Majestic recently the champagne waterfall was back, but no free champagne was offered. The only official person there was the hotel manager I think, it was poorly attended on both ships on my sailings.
  19. I'm sure it will be fine. Enjoy!
  20. They don't really ask for ID,(although on the Majestic there was someone there checking medallions) so it will be fine. It just has a sign at the entry that it is a private function
  21. There are usually about 6 drinks on special for about $6.50. No more free wifi.
  22. We were on the Island for 30 days and it was great for us. We went almost every night and met our friends there. They had club class dining, so we didn't have dinner with them (we would have, but the ship was so crowded that the dining experience was far different for club class compared to regular, quicker and better service for them so we wanted them to enjoy that benefit. Food was good, service was good and there was live music every night! For us, the best part was there were so few people because of the large amount of covid on board. It was one of the few things I did enjoy on the Island.
  23. Now the instructions say you can't use anything from your room, like towels, pillow case, etc. Nothing that can be damaged or ruined.
