  1. Oh man, you really are brave. I have been to South Africa traveling by car for a month and a half and never had any incidents, but a few situations where I felt weird. I am so glad you are okay and the most important things weren't taken. Very good attitude, as this would have scared me to death!!
  2. I rather see a man or women in casual clothes (polo shirt/slacks) than a woman with her breasts hanging out or in an over tight glitter dress. That is gross to me!
  3. True, maybe a notebook or a coaster. It is literally nothing. It is just for the fun it takes to think of an idea for your entry. Nothing but fun and good memories, even if your egg breaks!! Only the winner gets a prize (from applause from the audience as to whose was the best design, and sometimes the boobie prize for the worst design)
  4. Love the egg drop. We have done it on every cruise. No supplies given, just what you can find. Don't ask me, our egg always breaks, but at least everyone laughs!!
  5. We were on the Island in Aug/Sept for 30 days. All the covid cabin were full and people were left in their own cabin even if both were not negative(I know this for a fact because that happened to our friends who wanted to be seperated, both eventually got covid). There was a lot of covid, so many tables outside cabins by the end of the cruise. We tested positive the day we got home. We don't have any medical problems, are youngish, healthy, walking 8-9 miles at each port and we were very sick. All vaxed and boostered. We had avoided covid for 2+ years. So, everyone who says it is not more than a cold, for some people. it is. I have cancelled all my future cruises for right now, it was bad.
  6. I did the same with Princess on a recent cruise in August/ September. We had in writing that since we had booked a cruise that was sold as a 30 day (also sold as 14 and 16 day) that we would NOT need to test on turn around day. I had it printed with the Princess logo from the Princess site. On the turn around day we had to test. I showed the letter, talked to person after person and they basically said, "too bad, test or get off the ship" Luckily we tested negative and were allowed to continue on the cruise. But we did get covid when we got home, end of September and are still sick. It's not a joke for some and we were healthy and younger than most. Good luck.
  7. By the time this letter came out on the Island, there were many, many, many cases. Lots of crew were disappearing. Like you said, far worse.
  8. We always take the bus in PV. It is safe and easy. Everyone was masked when we were on it recently, better than the US, that's for sure. We also paid $1. I loved it.
  9. I am asking the people on here who are so happy the "protocols are lifted", "want to see smiling faces" "Don't want to be jabbed" etc. How many of you will also demand that Princess compensate you when you get covid? Want FCC etc? Are you willing to cruise without any protection from Princess that they will handle the medical problems of covid for no fee? That there will be no compensation during or after the cruise if you test positive? The very same people who want to cruise with no protocols are the ones on CC asking for compensation when they get covid. You can't have it both ways right now! If you don't agree to that, then as you say............stay home.
  10. Look around, on long cruises over 14 days, almost everyone is coughing by the end of the cruise. That's why the name "cruise crude" is widely known here on CC. We travel all different ways, RV, air, land........don't worry about me. We have been to 79 countries and all the states. I was just stating that since I have worn a mask on post covid cruises, I have not gotten sick on cruises. So, to me, that means mask must work. That was the point.
  11. Why is YOU capitialized? I am not the one to talk too. I don't expect Princess to pay for anything of mine. I always get insurance and I follow the rules. How about YOU????
  12. It's kind of crazy that they drop all testing and masks, etc.......but then want to isolate people. And passengers want to be compensated for the time in isolation and hotels, food etc. If they truly believe that covid is over (by dropping all the protocols it seems they do) then, they should also drop isolation and compensation and other procedures used. It doesn't make sense to me.
  13. It was sold as 30 day, or 14 and 16 day. Baltic/Iceland. We got it as a 30 day because we got written confirmation from Princess that we would not be required to test on the turn around day..We didn't want to worry the whole cruise whether we would test positive. Not true, we had to test and we lost out on our shareholders benefit for that cruise. Luckily we tested negative.
  14. All I know is on the 30 day Island Princess cruise I just got off of, there was alot of covid. Captain announced masks required indoors at all times. Many staff members disappeared. Where do the replacements come from when these staff members get covid? Then people are no here complaining that service is not the same.....how can it be with less staff? Be careful what you wish for.
  15. I am saying that there is long covid that could affect their health for years to come, which could affect their families by them not being able to work.
  16. You make them sound bad. Maybe the masks will come off. But maybe they care about their future health, their family and their co workers........
  17. Wow, we were on for 30 days and never saw or heard of that. They were playing cards in there.
  18. How was it? Our friends were in C726 on the 9/11 cruise to Iceland and there were several problems with the cabin. First being that my friend could not get her wheelchair over the bathroom threshold(which they fixed by making a piece to get over). They just said it was a nice suite but they had so many problems. I wonder if it was better for you?
  19. rgoldstein86. Good luck! We just got off a 30 day cruise and it was packed every where. People were literally sitting on top of you(theater, trivia, buffet and dining room) Covid got really bad toward the end of the cruise and captain annouced masks were required everywhere on the ship the last 4-5 days. If I were the crew I would keep the masks, it is now flu season too. On any future cruise, we will mask because before covid we came home sick from every cruise(over 500+ days at sea). Since covid, we have not gotten sick, probably because we were masking. (60 days at sea since covid).
  20. If I were the crew, I would keep them on. Please do report what you see. So many crew "disappeared" on our 30 day cruise. I don't even know how my cabin steward was after 27 days of seeing her and talking, she just disappeared for the last few days and we never got to say goodbye.
  21. Oh no! So sorry. I am following your blog because we really wanted to go on this cruise. We just returned from a 30 day Baltic/Iceland cruise(9/27) and tested positive the day we got home. We also had managed to stay covid free for the last 2 1/2 years(even having taken 2 15+ day cruises! We did get sick, so make sure to watch your symptoms and get the medication needed. I ended up with a sinus infection, so needed antibiotics. Most people are fine, but we did get pretty sick. On the Island Princess there was a lot of covid and many people coughing and sneezing. I wasn't surprised really. Lots and lots of tables outside people's doors and a letter from the captain saying masks required everywhere inside the last few days of the cruise. I only wrote to suggest that you ask for a PCR test because it is more accurate and a few people who intially tested positive, asked for PCR and then tested negative. Is that an option for you? I would at least ask, and for sure if you still test positive on day 5 ask. Unfortunately, my husband is still testing positive after two plus weeks, it took me about 8 days to test negative. Good luck and thanks for the blog. Love the trivia questions!
  22. We disembarked in Southampton on Sept 27. We were at the Mayflower terminal. Disembarking started at 7am and we were off in a few minutes. I don't know about the time to the airport, but since we carried our own luggage it was very easy and fast.
