  1. You didn’t ask about it, and you might already know, but you may want to start looking at flights as soon as they open the bookings. We booked ours at end of June for following May thinking possibly prices would drop at some point and we could re-book and get a savings. Boy were we wrong! They’ve more than doubled.
  2. Glad I’m not the only one who has felt confused but keep at the research and you will eventually feel not as confused and overwhelmed. Our first Med cruise in May and more than once have I walked away from the laptop, poured myself a drink and decided I was completely over it, what have I gotten us into. Sometime not thinking about the planning for a few days will help clear your mind and give you a fresh perspective and try only tackling one part of your trip per day. That’s what I did and it helped me finish planning and booking, along with the valuable info given by the well seasoned travelers on CC. I’m now down to the ports we are DIY and feel pretty good about the choices made for our trip so far.
  3. I love a good challenge but that 11:00 a.m. flight time would have me in a Depends. My nerves would be shot 😅
  4. Disappointing to hear. We’re taking our first X and Mediterranean cruise and our favorite pics are always at port. Was looking forward to those ☹️
  5. Is it recommended to make reservations for the 4 complimentary MDR pre-cruise or are chances pretty good of getting a table walking up understanding of course there could be a wait? Also, for the recent cruisers on Beyond, how have the shows been?
  6. We have booked our tours with To Rome With Dino for our upcoming May trip. He’s been very timely with communication by email (remember there’s a 7 hour time difference). You may want to contact him. You can find his info by Google search.
  7. Was wondering the same and thought I saw a pump bottle by the sink in a Beyond video. Thanks for clearing up the mystery for me. Now I know to bring the pump soap for the sink. Those little bars get so messy.
  8. I’ve spent the last few days getting quotes and they are ranging $140-$165. Ended up booking all of our transfers with Mia Limo. Theirs is $140 and transfer from FCO to Rome hotels is $60. They also have the permit to drop off on the pier next to the ship.
  9. Not sure if Celebrity offers it, but if you like adventure excursions we did a 4x4 Polaris adventure through Carnival and it was a blast. One of our best excursions to date. May can find it through a 3rd party.
  10. Thanks for your pleasant review. We will be on Beyond in May for our 1st X cruise and we aren’t concerned at all about food choices/lack thereof or quality. I’m not cooking or cleaning for 8 days and as someone else said, we can always find something to eat. Bringing sound machine and ear plugs in case those reported creaks and noises are in our cabin plus I’m sure we’ll be so tired from full days at ports sleep won’t be a problem. Excited to see what this new brand for us has to offer.
  11. Trastevere Sweet Dream. More of an air B&B. The gentleman who owns/ manages it has already been in contact with me so off to a good start. I most definitely will let y’all know how it turns out.
  12. I’m so sorry I forgot to respond to your question about who we chose. Mister Taxi Cab Driver. I’ve seen reviews on here and another forum and he can be found on FB. He has several tours to choose from but most run 400 Euro for 1-4 people; 450 for 5-6; and 500 for 7-8.
  13. Anyone use either of these companies?
  14. We’ll be going to hotel in Rome.
  15. Room has been booked. Thank you Euro Cruiser and cruisemom42 for the helpful info! Shout out to Google Maps as well 😂
  16. Getting ready to book a car service for pickup from Civi port for our May Beyond cruise. The companies I’ve looked at ask for a pick up time. Have never cruised on Celebrity before but I know cruise lines want ya outta there pronto to get ready for the next round. Generally speaking, what is a good time to tell them?
  17. Enjoy the photos on occasion and can appreciate cruise lines going digital. My favs from our past cruises were at the various ports. Does Celebrity do that?
  18. Staying in Trastevere the last night was the original game plan. Started reading more on it and some articles said some of the area can be a bit loud at night and I didn’t think that would be conducive for a good night’s sleep before a long flight. Some of the area seems a bit sketchy as well. If anyone could recommend a great hotel in a safe area I think we would enjoy spending the day & night in Trastevere. Even thought about doing an evening tour there. Thx for the route, guidebook and coffee bar suggestions! I’m sure we will definitely need a shot or two of espresso especially the first day. Tour guide offered to meet later the 1st day but I told him 2:00 worked better as any later and he would find us face planted and napping on the Colosseum floor 😂 That tour is 3 hours and includes the Forum. Vatican is 4 hours and is Vatican Museum; Sistine Chapel; St. Peter’s Basilica and Square.
  19. After much consideration, going back and forth for a week, we’ve decided to spend our last night post cruise in Rome and will use a car service for transfer to airport. Plans for the trip are as follows but I need some advice on a few things. We are staying in Piazza Navona pre-cruise and day of arrival we’ll stroll around, check out the Spanish Steps, maybe Parthenon before taking a tour of Colosseum in the afternoon. Trying to stay outdoors that day to help keep jet lag at bay. Second day swing by Trevi before meeting a guide to tour Vatican in the morning. We would like to check out the Trestavere area and thinking we can take a train from Vatican City. Can anyone confirm the train to Trestavere is in the Vatican area? It looks like it online but would like to make sure. We’re thinking the last day post cruise we would like a quieter area of rome to walk around until room is ready, something low key to unwind from the trip but a lovely area. Recommendations on area and hotel would be greatly appreciated. For all of the past Rome visitors does this sound like a doable game plan?
  20. Mind me asking what your cabin #was? We have 11296 booked.
  21. So sorry to those who have experienced this and thank you for reporting here. We’re booked for May. Always travel with a sound machine but I told hubs to bring home ear plugs from work. Hmmm should we bring bungie ties for anything that moves and creaks and WD40 as well 😅
  22. Recently watched a video on sunset verandas on Beyond and the same box was in the cabin. I think they may be in all category cabins. Keyword “think”.
  23. Not sure about the website. We booked ours 10 months out and like you I was nervous about overpaying but it has paid off. Booking the flexible fare with AA I was able to change our departing city about 7 weeks after booking and save $800. Took about a week to get a refund of the difference on our credit card.
  24. Thx red stripe! We’ve enjoyed all 14 of our Carnival cruises! Have made wonderful memories with them. Traveled to beautiful Caribbean and Mexican Riviera islands, met wonderful Carnival crew and made long lasting friendships meeting some awesome people. What I love about cruising is there is something for everyone on every brand. Just have to go with a positive attitude! Cheers 🍻
  25. Followed prices several weeks on FBC and saved $ booking premium economy refundable directly with AA.
