  1. Many moons ago as a young girl a family member stationed in Germany sent me a lovely wooden music box. It is still a treasured gift. We will soon be traveling for the 1st time to Rome, with stops in Naples, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Zakinthos. Our grandchildren (boy & girl) are only 3 months and 20 months but we’d like to find something for them in Italy or one of the other ports that might also hold a special place for them when they’re older. Any suggestions on items we can look for? I think my go to for the granddaughter would be similar to the music box such as mine but would love other ideas for her and especially our grandson. Planning on looking for soap or scarves for the ladies on my list and wondering if anyone has suggestions on small packable gifts for men? Thanks in advance!
  2. Just ordered and received three days ago Wander no show socks from Amazon and they are the 1st no show socks that haven’t slid down ever. Have stayed up while walking in and out of my sneaks!
  3. No matter what size I’ve been - smaller, in between or larger - and no matter how much walking I did, inevitably at some point on a cruise I would start to swell & feel bloated. Ran across a tip a few years ago to take a Pamprin at night. I am well past the age of needing Pamprin for its targeted use, but the last 3 cruises I tried it every night and had noticeably less swelling and bloating than previous cruises. I also made sure to be mindful of my water intake all day. So easy to remember to drink it at home but less so when you’re busy playing on a ship or at port.
  4. Thanks everyone for your replies! We are platinum on Carnival and can go straight to cabins to drop off luggage but prior to platinum couldn’t go back until 1 or 1:30ish. Great to hear we can go drop our bags off. I didn’t finish my thought in my OP and meant to say 1st time on Celebrity so I appreciate everyone’s input. We signed up for the Captain’s Club by phone and can’t wait to experience Celebrity. Tons of Carnival, 1 RC and we decided to treat ourselves to a new brand and fairly new ship in the Mediterranean. This board has been so valuable helping us plan this cruise vacay, so thanks to everyone not just for taking the time to respond to this post but the many daily posts by others on different topics.
  5. Sunset Veranda, Beyond, no special status, 1st cruise.
  6. We don’t dress to the nines on the get your fancy on nights but love it when others do. Reminds me of watching episodes of Love Boat growing up and everyone looked so elegant. Tell your husband to pack that tux 😊
  7. Itinerary: 1. Departing from Rome 2. Sea day 3. Dubrovnik 4. Kotor 5. Corfu 6. Zakynthos 7. Sea day 8. Naples Return to Rome.
  8. Please let me know if I’m wrong, but I assume on an 8 night, the two get your fancy on nights are the only two sea days? Also, does Celebrity still leave a newsletter (not sure what Celebrity calls theirs) that shows the next day’s activities in your cabin at night? App La are convenient, but I like to leave my phone alone except when taking pics the majority of vacay and prefer paper in hand.
  9. Have mercy! If I were in another room and heard that video I would have thought the TV was on and the news was reporting on the war in Ukraine. 💯 sounds like a gun with a summertime hail storm coming in a close 2nd.
  10. Our itinerary is Dubrovnik; Kotor; Corfu; Zak; and Naples. Question for the frequent Med cruisers - what other island would you like to see cruise lines replace Zakynthos with?

    Di Sarno

Anyone use Di Sarno car service for tours? If so, what was your experience with them? Did a search on CC but only saw one mention saying they have them booked.
  12. For the small group Amalfi Coast tours do they keep it at 6-8 guests per van as advertised and are there enough windows in the vans that each guest can see views while traveling?
  13. Our first Celebrity cruise is coming up and found it frustrating there were no reviews on their excursions. I cut & paste the name or description of some of the ones we were interested in on Google and quite a few popped up on other cruise lines with reviews. May want to try that route.
  14. We are usually as far back aft as we can get. My problem starts when I’m re-boarding forward after having more than 1 margierita in Cozumel and that hallway back to the cabin seems never ending. Have mercy if I’m on the wrong side 🤪
  15. Thx Edinburgher. I love the ferry shuttle idea and will definitely look more into Cavtat. I was a little torn between taking a water shuttle in Naples or doing a car tour and opted for the car so the ferry shuttle would give us that opportunity. Is the weather extremely hot in May? We’ll be there 2nd week. Dubrovnik, Corfu and Zakynthos are our DIY ports and not really being beach people, the last two have us kind of going hmmmm. Definitely won’t stay on the ship in Zakynthos though. Traveling all that way we might as well step off the ship and see what we can see.
  16. Water is in a can not bottle on all Celebrity ships? I don’t think I’ve ever seen canned water.
  17. Thank you both for the info. Description I quoted was as listed from the website. It’s a buggy safari. We’re going to be in Dubrovnik from 7 a to midnight so looking at different options outside the walls for the morning. We plan on exploring the old town, etc., on our own in the afternoon, evening. We’ve got a couple weeks left so I’m sure we’ll figure it out by then.
  18. Haven’t booked it, that’s why I was asking. The description says, “shore excursion leaves from an approx 5 min cable car ride and/or an approx 10-20 min taxi ride is required to reach your departure destination.”
  19. No answer to any of your questions. Just posting to say you are wonderful grandparents and I’m up for adoption if you’re taking applications for additional kids or grandchildren 😂 I look forward to the day when we can take our grands on special adventures to make memories of a lifetime. Cheers 🥂 to you!
  20. Wish Celebrity had reviews of their excursions. I’ve resorted to finding the same excursions on other cruise lines or 3rd party sites to read the good, bad and in between.
  21. Thx KiwiGal for the head’s up about HOHO. We’ve booked a 3rd party tour and hopefully will stay nice and dry 😊
  22. Looking at an excursion in Dubrovnik and two options for getting to the meeting point are by taxi or cable car. Is the cable car walking distance from the port?
  23. I asked under a different thread but can’t remember which one to find if it was answered, but I was wondering what the shows have been like and nightlife on Beyond. We will be on in May. Are reservations required for shows? Is there a piano bar?
  24. Hlitner, I love the idea of winging it and going with the flow but hubs on the other hand likes to have a little bit of a plan, especially traveling so far from home. You are correct about learning things about ports just by chatting it up onboard and we’ve made some very nice friendships by doing so.
