  1. I am sailing as a solo in a regular infinite veranda on Beyond in a few weeks. Looking forward to it. I like Edge class ships but don't like the IV and miss Murano.
  2. Sounds awesome. What is the square footage of your suite? How much more does the suite cost over a regular veranda? I wish I could afford to sail in suites. My hat is off to you!
  3. Great. I wish had gotten that.
  4. Cruised as a solo in December. No issues But not a lot of other solos if that matters to you No break from paying for two.
  5. I did this last month. Scheduled it the night before. No problems. Uber.
  6. Spa is much better on Viking. I find the buffets similar. Specialties better in Oceania. Main dining is better on O. But both are excellent service is comparable entertainment is comparable Viking Ocean has included tours but they are often disappointing
  7. Try Odessey. It’s a different but excellent experience.
  8. Should be a nice cruise. My only concern is that there is only one real port--Funchal. Also St. Maarten but I have been there many times. Also, watch the level of your cabin if you like to spend time on the veranda. I found that the lower levels got sea spray rendering the balconies difficult to use if the seas were at all rough. But you can't beat that small deposit and six-month payment deadline. And Viking ships are wonderful.
  9. Uber works in San Juan. Cost is reasonable. Less than $20 to old San Juan.
  10. I did this same cruise in October (the other direction). Royal also added one free specialty coffee to the four free drinks for Diamond. Not sure if they will do that again, but you might wait to see before buying a coffee card.
  11. Yes. No need to be loyal to any cruise line. There is a lot of competition. Explore the alternatives.
  12. Even if Celebrity eliminated all food, some enthusiasts would say "Well, you can always pack a sack lunch."
  13. It's funny to read the comments. Seems like there are cruisers who cruise to eat and those who cruise to drink. I could care less about cutbacks to the Premium package because I don't drink. But I understand why people who paid for the Premium package would be upset if the premium liquors were not available. Likewise, I don't eat at the buffet for dinner but can understand why people who do are upset in not getting what they paid for. I also hear the people who say that inflation has increased prices--but I also see that cruise fares have significantly increased at the same time food and drink is cut back.
  14. Your mileage may vary but I was not asked for any travel declaration or covid test when I flew into San Juan on 12/26.
  15. What is the Pier number? Is this in Old Town or across the bay?
  16. I had never even thought of non-alcoholic wines. Had a drink package on Viking and drank non-alcoholic beers. (The package was included and I couldn't get a discount for giving it up so I used it for mocktails too.).
  17. I am not big on special events so unfortunately can't be much help. The big event on this sailing was New Years Eve.
  18. Just got back from this cruise. Highly recommended. Only advice is to book the optional excursions rather than the included excursions. The included excursions tend to be very short--and sometimes overlap with the optional ones.
  19. Much better system than the old system of 2 hours
  20. I expect the prices to go up so I am booked 2-3 years in advance with refundable deposits or small nonrefundable deposits
