  1. I upgraded for our 7-night cruise earlier this month. I called and was charged $81 and change which included the Elite + 35% discount. When we got on board the first day, my wife upgraded her basic for $68 and change. Go figure.
  2. Maybe he should look at Odyssey or Explorer? They both go to Rome.
  3. Right now, you don't need anything to enter Italy from the U.S., so I suspect Spain will come to its senses sooner rather than later. Starting from June 1, 2022, travelers to Italy will no longer be required to show the Green pass (i.e. Anti-COVID 19 vaccination certificate or recovery certificate, or a negative swab test) to enter Italy and are not subject to quarantine upon arrival to Italy if they do not possess the Green pass.
  4. If you are flying out on the 26th, you are arriving in Germany on the 27th. Nothing to be thankful about. 😉
  5. I just got off Summit and rooms weren't ready until around 1pm, but we were told we could go to the stateroom and drop off our carry on even though rooms were not ready. This was around 11:30. We picked up our keys and headed for lunch. I thought they had the same procedure for Royal. BTW, yes, I am that person. 😉
  6. Staterooms are usually ready around 1pm, but didn't they change their procedures having your stateroom keys on the outside of your stateroom so you can go directly there when you board, get your keys, drop off your carry on, then head to lunch?
  7. You shouldn't have any noise whatsoever. The staterooms above you are directly below the outside eating area of the Oceanview Cafe. Those staterooms have a large overhang that virtually covers the entire balcony. As the decks tier down, the overhang is only about 1/3rd of the balcony.
  8. You have Suites and CC staterooms directly above you, and your balcony is only partially covered.
  9. The one disadvantage to opening all the partitions is you lose your privacy when getting dressed with people walking back and forth thru the balconies, always having to close the curtains and losing the natural light.
  10. Got my Koozies in the mail last week. Ready for my next cruise.
  11. The FAQ reads: Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard; with the exception of embarkation day when each guests are permitted to bring onboard with them up to two (2) bottles of wine (which are subject to a corkage fee) per guests. A corkage fee does not apply to guests with the Classic Beverage Package or Premium Beverage Package. Security may inspect containers (including water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, canteens, etc.) at any time and will dispose of alcohol concealed in such containers. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased from onboard shops or in ports of call (which must be presented to security upon re-boarding), will be secured by ship's personnel. Alcohol secured by ship's personnel will be returned to guests just prior to the conclusion of their cruise vacation. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them. I've not heard of anyone being charged corkage fee for bringing on 2 bottles and drinking in your stateroom. The FAQ says they are "subject to a corkage fee," but I've not heard of anyone being charged with that fee if they did not have the beverage package.
  12. I would bring your swim wear in your carry on and change in the changing room after your chops lunch.
  13. If you drink mixed drinks, some bartenders give you the bare minimum pour while some are a little more generous with their pour, i.e. just what the shot glass holds or the shot glass plus some over pour. It also sometimes depends if they know you are a tipper. If you get a drink in the DL, you can't watch them pour, so you don't know exactly what you get. I would go to a bar where you can watch them pour. Just my observation.
  14. Barcelona is the exception rather than the rule for bringing anything on board. It's the only port that I am aware of that you go thru Spain security, then hit the duty free store to purchase wine, booze, water, etc., then board the ship without going thru ship security. In fact, we boarded, then went back to the duty free to purchase more "stuff" without any issue.
  15. We usually go to Cafe al Bacio for a quiet after dinner drink. Most ships have a full bar there, but not advertised.
  16. Once you submit your request, they will send you an email saying they received your request and your $40. I had not heard for a few weeks so I responded to the email they sent requesting status. Hours later, we received our approval.
  17. OMG, I just saw this post. I met Don, his lovely wife, and his son on a Summit cruise to Bermuda several years back, and later sailed with Don and his son on another Summit sailing to Bermuda. We are currently on Summit sailing to Bermuda. We have fond memories of meeting Don and his wonderful family. My deepest condolences.
  18. Have you been in contact with someone within the last 14 days who has gotten covid? Do you have any symptoms? Cough, runny nose, diarrhea, etc. You can figure it out when asked the questions. If you check the box "just for travel" you will pay.
  19. I just got my covid tests today at Walgreens. Didn't have to pay. I gave them my insurance and must have answered all the questions correctly to get "free" tests. 🤪
  20. Gov't is paying for everything else under the sun, and throwing money around like drunken sailosr, so why not my covid test. With respect to drunken sailors, at least they spend their own money. 😉
  21. I'm sure that is wrapped up in the taxes, fees, and port charges you are charged with the booking.
  22. You need a NZeTA + IVA = around 44NZD = $27 USD and change for a one-day port visit per person. Bermuda is $40pp for 1 or 3 days. It's all a bunch of BS in my opinion as none of any of the other ports charge. It's a money grab.
  23. I wonder if they will still be charging an outrageous environmental footprint fee for each visitor like they did pre-covid? (NZeTA) Another ripoff like the Bermuda Travel Authorization.
