  1. DH and I will be on this cruise, and it'll be fun to follow along to see how everybody else's experiences align with ours. Our upgrade bid ($110 total) took us from a standard obstructed balcony on deck 8 to a deluxe obstructed balcony, still on deck 8. A little more room will be nice, particularly having a couch to relax on. Congrats on your forward balcony!
  2. That is perfectly logical! I *plan* to book a B2B TA right after the 1st of the year, but who knows what happens before I actually get onboard. I think I'll just pay for my FCCs in the traditional manner!
  3. That's not a bad idea, but I hate to spend my first bit of time on board dealing with business type things and hoping the internet cooperates, rather than exploring a new to me ship. I guess I could just buy the gift cards and if I can't use them to buy the FCCs, I can sock them away towards my next cruise. Thanks for your input!
  4. Guest services deals with on board accounts/folios, and FCCs get charged outside the folios. I don't want to assume the cruise consultant's payment system is set up to allow gift cards.
  5. I fully expect to handle this transaction in person. I'm hoping for confirmation it can be done before buying the gift cards.

  7. Does anybody know, can you buy Future Cruise Deposits onboard and use Princess gift cards to pay for them, rather than having them charged to the CC on file?
  8. Can you use gift cards on board to buy Future Cruise Deposits? I've always had them just charged to my CC on file, though it went through as a separate charge, not as part of my folio balance. I'd like to buy some of the Amex gift cards to use on my NYE cruise.
  9. My DH doesn't wear his on a lanyard, but he keeps the little detachable hook part on the medallion so he can more easily find it in his pocket.
  10. Have you tried rotating your phone? I can't remember if the app will go landscape or not, but that sometimes works on other apps. Or maybe hit the back button just once to get rid of the keypad? Good luck!
  11. You don't need the app at all onboard, just the actual medallion, which is what unlocks your cabin door.

  15. I haven't done it on Princess, but I'd suggest submitting your requests on different days in case it's not technically allowed. There might be a better chance of it slipping through if they don't see both side by side.
  16. Thank you for taking time out of your cruise to post your experience. I'm curious how the wifi has been. We sailed on the Grand in March and the wifi was amazing, but the Ruby just last month really sucked! Enjoy the rest of your cruise!
  17. I did all the precruise checkin for both DH and I on my phone. He did absolutely nothing on his phone.
  18. When we walked by Deckhand Dave's earlier, the line was really long. We decided to just skip it this trip. And we completely forgot about Tracey's, and since we walked so much today, there's no way I feel up to walking back there! What a glorious day. No rain, nice sunshine, and just the littlest of breezes. We opted on going to the Alaska State Museum, and it was really well done. Great exhibits, and the film in the theater was really nice. Well worth the admission of $14pp.
  19. Hard to think they wouldn't be "allowed" to wear a higher quality mask than what's required if they were so inclined. Of course, with all (for the most part) passengers and crew being vaxxed and testing negative, I imagine the danger has been deemed lessened and therefore the current regulations reflect that.

I'm on the Ruby, currently in Juneau, and I just heard from our waiter that they are no longer required to wear KN95 masks, they only have to wear the disposable surgical masks, and if they're working on an outside deck, they don't have to wear any mask at all. That is huge news! I'm not sure if this is fleet wide or just on the Ruby, but it surely will make life easier for the crew.
  21. I'm on this cruise as well, and I agree with everything @LawDog61said, except I haven't checked out the music choices. Due to the choppy seas, our cruising speed has been less than 14 knots, and that, coupled with a slightly delayed departure from San Francisco, has led to the cancellation of our first port, Icy Strait Point. I can think of worse things to happen, so DH and I are just rolling with the flow.
  22. I didn't think to go online. I'm so conditioned that everything is done thru the app! Yes, my full price purchase shows there. The second screen shot was captured moments before I posted, which is what led to my confusion. I'm hopeful I won't have to spend too much time resolving the overpayment once onboard. Thanks for your input.
  23. I have a question. We sail on the Ruby on Wednesday, and only booked about 12 days ago. At that time, the internet pkg was showing at full price, without my 50% Platinum discount. After reading thru some of the more recent posts, I decided to purchase it, figuring I would just get the discount applied as OBC. My credit card was charged, and my account seemed to reflect that I had purchased the package. However, now when I look at it, it's offering it at the discounted rate. Does that imply the internet pkg is no longer on my account? Should I buy it again, and then get my original full price payment refunded? These screen shots are what I had right when I purchased it, and right now. Thanks!
  24. I can't do a test run, though, as I can't go further until I'm within 3 days of the cruise. Or am I missing something?
