  1. We were on the Joy in March and several times throughout the cruise the Cruise Director announced that no sea shells could be brought back on the ship. It was announced whenever she talked about an upcoming Port. I had never heard that announced before. Why now?
  2. Received this email forwarded from HAL to my large online TA (I work with a designated consultant) on 2/27/23. Sailing on the N Statendam 3/12/23. Original cabin booked is an inside on Deck 11. This is our first HAL cruise, 14th cruise in general. PREFERRED LIMITED UPGRADE SPECIAL Upgrade for select bookings from your Interior Stateroom (Category IQ to N) to the following best available: Verandah (Category VQ to VF) for an additional $249pp USD/$311pp CAD I did not take the offer. We would have ended up on Deck 8 or 10 I believe.
  3. Do you happen to know if ginger beer and coconut water were available at any bars for mixers?
  4. No real swimming is required. You will be provided life jackets. When you jump you of course will go under but will pop right back up. Then it will be a very short distance to doggy-paddle to get to a spot that is shallow enough to sit or stand.
  5. Good morning. New to HAL and new to (and appreciative of) the Daily Fleet Reports. Are all the daily meal, cocktail, and wine recommendations available on HAL ships?
  6. I am like you, booked this excursion for the benefit of my son who I knew would love it. I had done something more extreme in Dominica with jumps, slides, and repelling. I was so thankful to be done that day but also so glad I did it and lived to tell about it. So for the D Falls, we did the 12. It has been a year since we were there, but I do know I was so relieved to see the ladders at the big jump falls and grateful to the Iguana Mama guides for accommodating me with all the non-jump options which included descending by slithering down the rocks on my but where there were no ladders. I would advise you from one person with acrophobia to another, to take one for the team and do it!
  7. Anyone have any idea as to why the NCL Joy itinerary changed earlier this month (and so far out - January 2024) to dropping Costa Rica and adding a Sea Day? I believe the Gem is still scheduled to stop there around the same time that we were originally going to. Joy is a full transit and Gem is partial. We are booked and really looking forward to Costa Rica. Eight of us going and none have been there. Should I hold out hope that CR will be reinstated? Anyone else have CR dropped lately?

  9. Is the Shareholder OBC showing up on the Amenity Invoice as TGXXX? (TG100 for a 7 night cruise, TG250 for a 15 night cruise.) My statement has that listed but I am not sure if that OBC was from a promo at the time of the booking.
  10. I used to find $50/night fare (Interior cabins) regularly as recent as 5 years ago. This was without the perks (gratuities, drinks, wifi). Now I am finding prices are a bit higher than double that for the same base fare. We have since come to enjoy the Free at Sea, Always Included, etc. and like the package deals bundled into one price. It is still sticker shock for me until I stop to do the math and realize the actual value of what I am getting.
  11. And?.... This is still an informative thread that has great info for stockholders.
  12. You seem to be very organized, have a lot of common sense, and to be very logical 🙂 You got this! Just don't forget your passport and cash -- from home or from the ship. Other than that, don't sweat the small stuff. Anxious to hear what you choose to do in Key West.
  13. Our NCL cruise isn't until Jan. 2024. I submitted the request on 5/5/22 and got an email 5 days later (from an actual person) stating my $100 had been applied. It is a 15 night cruise so I should have received $250. I went to my cruise summary and it had the correct amount posted. So it seems the more reliable source is your cruise summary, not the emails you may or may not get.
  14. Does anyone know if I am jumping the gun booking a January, February, or March 2024 Panama Canal cruise on Celebrity, NCL, Princess, or RCCL? If I use a 3rd party TA site to search those 3 months this far out I get 10 results. If I look at the same months for 2023 I get 30 results. A couple of the options for 2024 are OK, but the options are definitely limited. I am not finding my ideal itinerary, size of ship, amenities, # of days, and departure port all wrapped into one. Maybe I'm being too selective. Any insight on when lines post new cruises? Is there specific release timelines they follow?
