  1. I have never transferred a reservation from my PCC to a TA! but, why would you think the promo would change -- it is attached to the booking -- the person doing this is doing so within something like 60 days and simply moving "ownership" of the booking, not re-faring.
  2. To confirm, go to HalFacts.com and find pics of a room near yours on the deck plan. Note: on the Pinnacle list of cabins, specifically on Deck 4 (but maybe other decks), some of the Vista Suites are marked "V", for verandah. If you look at the photo and the bed is near the balcony, the cabin is a VS or mini-suite. As pmjnh said, all of the Verandahs at least on the Pinnacle ships have the bed near the bath.
  3. I have not cancelled using FCDs, but I did ask my good and experienced PCC about your very question. See the middle paragraph above (post #4). They would 'come back' up until Final Payment, then lost.
  4. I forget what page I was on today, but it referred to passenger laundromats requiring coins! ETA: good IT is hard to find, in Seattle?!!
  5. Probably ZOMBIE text. Left from some age ago. HAL website peppered with such.
  6. Here is a video of a sideways inside on the Main Deck of Rotterdam. It may be helpful!
  7. 4, We applied our (6) FCDs to a 24-day north Atlantic cruise. When I realized that we were going to be gone over the same sensitive dates with the 24-day as the 35-day Voyage of the Vikings, I moved the FCDs to the VOV. When I went to book the VOV, a non-refundable fare came up $8,000 cheaper than the refundable HIA fare. I still do not know why! but either a Mariner's special or a Private fare! I could not argue with that kind of savings! A bit later I got wondering, and asked my PCC if I had made the FCDs non-refundable by applying them to a NR fare, and she replied that they were refundable or movable, up until the Final Payment date of the VOV cruise. 5, Cruise Critic has a Travel Insurance board, https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/499-cruisetravel-insurance/ HOWEVER the company that provides our industry answers (TripInsuranceStore), does not handle Allianz plans. You could ask on the board and hope for other subscribers to have an answer.
  8. I am unlikely to map the MDR, as the only time we have dined there at all regularly was when we had a family group (we were fixed on the open level on the Zaandam). But I do intend to submit photos of the K'dam from our next cruise -- lots of sea days to take them! Also a Cruise Critic review.
  9. It may (likely) be that I don't know where my OBC comes from!
  10. You seem confused as to what one person (or TWO people) can pack in roll-aboard case and personal item tote or daypack. We always have hats/caps, jackets and/or raincoats, and additional bag(s) besides the tote/daypack. Surely any solo or couple could put away every little thing they pack (carryon or checked) in most cabins. But sometimes having your jacket handy for a stroll around the promenade or a sunhat for the Lido deck is convenient.
  11. I think the codes (ZPM or VPM) are offered to each person, but applied as one per cabin, showing up as per one person, the primary. @kazu can you correct me if I'm wrong?
  12. Yes, I should have mentioned that the HalFacts' maps were from 2014 and may have (likely?) changed.
  13. Here is a PDF from HalFacts. I don't remember which level was fixed; hopefully someone comes along who does. @Crew News? https://halfacts.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/WEDM.pdf
  14. Yes, we do -- we re-wear unsoiled clothes that still look nice (and I have eliminated pants/leggings that bag at the knees from my wardrobe) at home and on vacation. If you don't at home, you probably won't feel comfortable doing so on the ship. Our longest cruise was 28-days (trans-Atlantic + Mediterranean) on the Nieuw Amsterdam. I washed all of our clothes (that needed it) in the sink! This was before I learned that Holland America's laundry service is as good as it is. They will follow special care requests, even air-dry! Subsequently I have made use of laundry-by-the-bag on our cruises -- all HAL except one RCCL (which does not have large cloth bags, only smaller paper bags which tear and even if they don't tear are restricted to smaller items). Having achieved 4* loyalty, we will have unlimited laundry on our THREE 35-day cruises this year... but we will still re-wear clean clothes!
  15. Erica, Love your attitude! I didn't answer the first time I read your post, as I have no experience with either Celebrity or the Caribbean. But mulling the question, I think I do have one area of slight expertise: PACKING! Pack as little as you can. (Exception: if you are a swimmer -- pool/beach/snorkle -- take two suits. One to wear, one to wash out and drip-dry.) Ask about laundering on the Celebrity board: price and quality. Ask if anyone has warnings! I see you will have to fly to the ship. Try to keep to a carry-on and a tote of some kind, maybe a daypack you can use for excursions.
  16. Yes, but various prices have been encountered recently! It is still the most economical, I'm sure, if you don't count having to pack enough clothes to fill the bag and wear for a couple additional days until it is returned. ETA: also wash and hang for appropriate items. Anything you can fit in the sizable cloth bag, unlike some lines that specify only "undies/t-shirts/PJs" and give you a small paper bag prone to tearing.
  17. Not that all Indonesians are so devout that they would not handle alcohol, what I learned somewhere on CC -- the Indonesian government will not let HAL have bartender/server classes in their "Learn to Be a Steward" school(s).
  18. On the K'dam last January, there were no beverage servers in the Lido (yes I know you excluded restaurants, but I haven't seen this mentioned at all or not lately) -- there was a small bar on at least one side but I hope both sides, with limited choices (I recall beer and wine only). The circulating stewards would fetch drinks with your card if you needed them to, but they were really stretched thin just keeping the tables clear and clean, so I would go to the small bar myself. In the Crows Nest we were well taken care of. I do add an extra tip on the paper slip at least once or twice a day, but I am also friendly, treat servers as people, and try to remember their names. And if a big group is taking up servers' time, I am not above sidling up to the bar and getting a round myself.
  19. While I agree with the above answers, I will mention we had a French waiter in the Pinnacle. Luck of the draw, he served us twice! He appeared to think he was superior (perhaps even to us!), but in fact his level of service was inferior to the average Indonesian/Filipino steward.
  20. And I'm sure you will! If you should happen to feel self-conscious for any reason, you can always say "First time on Viking!" instead of "New cruiser". You will probably get answers like "You'll never go back" -- at least my aunt doesn't want to!
  21. Maybe because I have already bought it? That would be pretty subtle programming for HAL's IT! I currently have no bookings without HIA, most included in the fare and the one that I bought in November. ETA: maybe because I am in US and you're in CAN? Maybe they are doling out the new website options to a limited audience? @kazu
  22. Hi Henk! Both the Signature and Elite Beverage Package covers Coca-Cola products, fountain or can; it's only on the Pinnacle Ships (including Rotterdam -- they just haven't updated the references after R'dam joined the fleet) that you will find the Freestyle Coke machines with their almost unlimited and somewhat crazy flavors, dispensed into a special plastic glass with a chip embedded in its base. As Nancy said.
  23. I couldn't find it under Packages today, Jacqui! They sorta hid it, see post above.
