  1. Long ago and very far away you could get room service continental breakfast. Now it’s MDR and Oceanview for restricted hours. Personally I think it’s lovely that on such a busy day for the crew we can have a lovely full service goodbye breakfast in the MDR.

  2. IMHO, wear and tear is one thing (though there needs to be a reasonable point beyond which it should not be allowed degenerate before refurbishment is done), but there is no excuse whatsoever for mold, especially to the extent shown on these photos. Mold is easily dealt with by the room steward using the appropriate mold cleaning solutions. I can't understand why the OP feels the room steward was so amazing if he did not clean the mold, or report it to his superiors for assistance. I personally would not have accepted a bathroom in such a gross and unhygienic state.

  3. can anyone answer a battery question? Im thinking of buying a SmartScoot - NCL says the battery needs to be a gel cell? Does that mean a SmartScoot won't be allowed on NCL ship?

They are worried about acid batteries which the Smartscoot battery is not. I have had no issues taking my Smartscoot on any airline or Celebrity cruise ship. If you want to be absolutely sure, go to Smartscoot.com and ask them to send you the battery specifications. You can then provide that info to the Special Needs department at NCL for a definitive answer.

  4. Love them! You get an extra hour to sleep in and by the time you reach FLL, at least for the eastern time passengers there is no jet lag when arriving home. Now eastbound TA’s are another story. We tried it once but didn’t like having to wake up an hour earlier every other day and then deal with a long flight home and several days of jet lag. YMMV.

  5. I need an accessible cabin. Ask your room steward to set up a dam around the shower using rolled up pool towels. I’ve found this works very well in soaking up water and preventing water from spreading out into the rest of the bathroom. The sink is regular height but with no cabinetry below to allow for a wheelchair.

  6. I agree with markeb. As a McCallan lover myself, I was very disappointed in the tasting. It was restricted to the McCallan available for sale on board, with no age distinction. I thought the ‘tutorial’ was amateurish. I would suggest your money is better spent on your husband enjoying a couple of glasses of 12 year old McCallan from the bar.

  7. I'm not sure what Celebrity can add to Elite Plus that would be financially feasible/responsible on their part, to satisfy cruisers who already have drink and wifi perks.

For myself, the Elite Plus benefits are great. I use the one category upgrade, the wifi, and the laundry/dry cleaning/pressing. I hardly drink, so a glass of wine with my coupon during Elite happy hour works well for me. DH is a very moderate drinker, and pays for maybe a high-end scotch and/or a glass or 2 of good wine at dinner. Best of all is the perk of complimentary tea and espresso based beverages at Al Bacio. Especially given our Canadian exchange rate, a coffee plus 18% works out to almost $8. We always keep USD singles on hand and tip for every beverage in Al Bacio.

I am very appreciative to Celebrity for our Elite Plus perks. I do agree, however, that it would be nice if there were a level between Elite Plus and Zenith. We won't ever make it to Zenith. May not even get to a mid-level, but it will be fun trying!

  8. I find the regular room service cheese plate quite dull. And sometimes the cheese is dried out. It comes with saltines.....:o.

I have tried to ask for crackers for cheese, but they claim not to have any at room service. When I do order it, I order it with a fruit plate as well. The only food I bring on board are crackers for cheese in a resealable bag.

  9. Have your room steward remove the coffee table in the sitting area to make room for the pack and play.

Agree that a 14 month old will be entertained by observing all the action and activity around the ship as well as from lots of attention he is sure to get from the crew.

  10. Sorry for the typos in my title. Should read:

Can anyone provide a copy of the current Concierge room service menu.

I am really disappointed to hear about the downgrading of the breakfast menu,

I also look very forward to a relaxing hot breakfast on my balcony every morning, including fresh eggs - not that awful premixed scrambled stuff, and 2-3 cups of hot coffee.
