  1. I don't use a cover. I think (hope) the ground crew will take better care of my Smartscoot if they can see what it is. I don't remove the seat. I fold down the backrest and the steering column. I wrap a wide Velcro strap around the steering column and base crossbar to immobilize the steering column. I also ordered the Hobby Tiger battery case from amazon. It's perfect for taking the battery into the cabin.

  2. You are NOT entitled to 3 drinks as a perk of Elite Plus. The three drinks is only done when you are on a cruise with a lot of Elites that can't be accommodated in the Elite Cocktail party. That is done as the last resort. The cocktail party is the default and the three drinks is the last resort.

Dkjretired - I'm the OP. Should clarify that we only sail transatlantic in past few years.

  3. Hi all, we are heading to Eastern Carib in Sept on Allure. My fiance is paraplegic... we have an accessible room but have any if you booked wheelchair accessible activities in st thomas, st marteen, or nassau? Were they truly accessible for someone paralyzed?

  4. As an Elite Plus I am entitled to 3 drinks at cocktail time and complimentary coffees and tea at Al Bacio. Unlike drink packages (which I don't use), gratuities are not included. I am interested in what other Elite Plus passengers without drink packages do about tips in these circumstances?

  5. I was interested in this story and would not have seen it otherwise as I only view the Celebrity forum and roll calls. I don't believe anyone other than the official moderators has the right to censor comments or posts. The subject line was clear that it was not Celebrity. Those who are not interested can skip it and let the rest of us make our own decision as to whether or not we find it of interest.

  6. I'm curious. I've noticed on my roll call, that some people have 'just booked' our cruise less than a week before final payment date. I was wondering why, if they have waited this long, and there are still a fair number of cabins available in the cabin type they have booked, they don't wait until after the final payment date? The rates normally go down, and there are no specials or perks available at this time since it is a Transatlantic.

    Am I missing something?

  7. As of a year ago, I cannot sail if I don't have an accessible cabin. I like to have a balcony. There are very few balcony accessible cabins on the ships. I cannot ever take advantage of a balcony cabin guarantee when offered, or get the least expensive balcony offered. I can take a chance and try to book after final payment to save $$, but I take a very big risk that there will be no available accessible balconies available. If someone has booked a guarantee balcony and is given an accessible cabin because it is close to the sailing date, that is one thing. But actually booking one without needing the facilities of such a cabin is just plain wrong and selfish. If that is what has happened here, the OP should have received the special form from Celebrity as a previous poster noted, confirming why an accessible cabin is required.

On my last cruise, I noticed that someone on my roll call had my favourite accessible cabin. (also with the grab bars on the side that is best for me). This was months before sailing. I thought nothing of it, until I saw their post on the roll call asking if anyone wanted to join them on a day-long bicycle tour to outlying villages. I understand that people may have disabilities that are not visible.....so maybe someone can educate me on what accessible cabin facilities might be required by someone who could participate in this type of excursion?

  8. We always sail on S-Class ships (since they came out), in Veranda cabins....love the balcony, the floor to ceiling window. I have recently begun to require an accessible cabin on our last 2 TA cruises. I spoke with a number of passengers who were just crazy about multiple Alaska cruises (which we have never done).

There is what I consider a post-final payment good deal on an upcoming Solstice Alaska itinerary. The only accessible cabin available is an Oceanview on Deck 3. Even if there was a Veranda available, it would be $2000 CDN more for the cabin.

It's been so many years since we had an Oceanview (M-Class).

Expecting that the weather will be chilly for balcony use, does anyone have an opinion as to whether or not a window instead of the large glass balcony door negatively impact our enjoyment of this itinerary?
