  1. First coffee at Al Bacio.

A glass of wine on our balcony at sail away.

At the end of the day, walking into our turned down cabin with the lights dimmed.

Cozy in bed highlighting the next day's activities in the daily and filling out the breakfast card.

Breakfast on my balcony in the quiet, unrushed morning of a sea day. .... looking forward to 9 of them on my upcoming TA!

  2. When you call celebrity ask for the 'special needs' department. If he is in an accessible stateroom, he should have already received and submitted a special needs form. If not in an accessible room, when you contact special needs you can ask for a shower chair if he needs one. Also it's a good idea to contact the scooter rental company the day before you sail to confirm your rental details.

  3. We will be Elite + on our upcoming Silhouette cruise, and one of the benefits states "Complimentary Tea, Lattes, Cappuccinos", but does not indicate at what venues. Is this benefit available at any venue serving these items.....Al Bacio, Al Secundo Bacio, MDR, Specialty Dining?

How is the gratuity handled, since there would be no charge with the tip included? Is the 18% covered by Celebrity? If not, how have others handled this?

    Thank you for any assistance.

  4. We used to prefer the aft 'long balcony' cabins on the M ships. Since their introduction, we sail exclusively on the S class ships. As of last year, I now require and accessible cabin. So when booking a veranda accessible, I have no choice but to book forward of the forward elevators. I do wish accessible veranda cabins were available by the midship elevators. It would make it easier to reach the MDR, Al Bacio, and buffet, and the rest of the common areas of the ship.

  6. A little while back someone on this board said Celebrity was trying out some extra surcharge items on their ship's MDR menu. One of the items was Nova Scotia lobster for $25. Does anyone know the status of this offering? Has anyone tried it?

  7. Some interesting lobster history: Prior to the mid-19th century, lobster was considered a mark of poverty or as a food for indentured servants or lower members of society in Maine, Massachusetts, and the Canadian Maritimes, and servants specified in employment agreements that they would not eat lobster more than twice per week.[31] Lobster was also commonly served in prisons, much to the displeasure of inmates.[32] American lobster was initially deemed worthy only of being used as fertilizer or fish bait, and until well into the 20th century, it was not viewed as more than a low-priced canned staple food.

  8. The coconut cake at Al Bacio on our 2015 Silhouette fall TA was to die for. On the Reflection fall TA 2016 it was disappointing. The layer cakes all tasted 'wet' on that cruise, like the layers had been drizzled with sugar water to keep them moist.

  9. I'm the OP and I ended up buying the Smartscoot in time for my October 2016 TA cruise. I paid about $800 more due to the low Canadian dollar. Has been worth every penny to me. With my bad hip It would have been impossible to navigate the airports and the ship. Worked beautifully for me in ports. It collapses to the size of a high end stroller so it fit easily in taxis or rental cars in port. No more waiting for someone to show up with a wheelchair and push me. And I love the wide range of speeds it offers me.

I am happy to wait my turn to get on an elevator. The majority of able bodied passengers I encountered in elevator situations were very courteous, moving back to let me on, or holding the door to let me on before they did, especially when I was on my own and DH was elsewhere. There were certainly some instances where it was clear that I had already been waiting for an elevator when some pax arrived at the elevator banks and ignored me while they filled up the elevator before I could get to it. Fortunately this was the exception rather than the rule. And yes, my DH also had to, from time to time had to hold back people who arrived at the banks after me, so that they didn't beat me to the elevator.

  10. I'm thinking about going for a Veranda guarantee with the understanding that I could get the lowest type of Veranda cabin available. It is past the final payment date. When I check on an overseas Celebrity website as well as a US internet cruise booking site, it shows that no 2D cabins are available. Lots of 2C's and above. Does this mean that if I book a Veranda guarantee I will likely not be assigned a 2D?

  11. If the population on board in any way reflected the number of snobby/snide/judgemental posters on this forum, there is no way we would be in our 21st year of cruising exclusively on Celebrity ships. The posters who advised you that there is nothing to be concerned about when it comes to fitting in , and that you'll have a great time, represent the real onboard demographic. I hope that when you return from your cruise you'll let us know we told you so!! [emoji3]

  12. I'm looking to book a cruise for October, 2017, and I want to book it now to ensure I get an accessible room, which I require.

I am not sure if I'll be taking another cruise until then, but if I do, will I be able to transfer the cruise to a future cruise in order to get any perks offered for future cruise bookings?

If I can't transfer it, is it possible, once onboard, to cancel that booking and rebook it as a future cruise?

  13. You have to know the specifics of each case before you can draw any conclusions. I know the stories in some of the people mentioned and they left for purely private reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with Celebrity. In fact one of the people named told me that they love working for Celebrity.

One also needs to look at the numbers of people who left and then returned.

I agree. While you certainly may miss a memorable staff member, it is probably incorrect to assume they left for a negative reason. Consider that there are an infinite number of positive personal, career and even pre-planned reasons for a favourite staff member to move on.
