  1. I had the same experience yesterday...booked on Serenity for next June/July and received 2 1/2% Crystal Society discount.
  2. There is a licensed physician on board. If you give him/her a list of your medications and tell them what your medical diagnoses are, they will be able to make the determination whether Paxlovid is appropriate for you. If one doesn't trust the physician with this fairly routine matter, perhaps one shouldn't be on the ship. After all, there are many much more serious things that can befall you while on the ship, and that very same physician will be in charge of your care.
  3. For sure. And if the day comes when Seabourn starts to include excursions (or airfare), we'll seriously start looking elsewhere. Hope it doesn't come to that.
  4. The blue jackets with orange trim that were given out last year are much more than vanity wear. It was all I needed for my Alaska cruise last fall (end of September and beginning of October). I also brought it along as my only jacket on my 2-week Iceland cruise last month and it was the only jacket I needed. I'm not sure if the new jackets are different, but the ones that were used last year had three layers, were wind- and rain-resistant, and were lightweight, so easy to travel with. You certainly couldn't use them as ski parkas, but they are more than adequate for the usual Alaska itineraries...and they might even help you survive a summer in the Outer Sunset!
  5. That's exactly what happened with Seabourn: After recently going paperless (and therefore necessitating use of the app for virtually all information), so many passengers asked for the printed schedules etc. to continue that they have now resumed delivering them each evening to every cabin. But that only happened because passengers complained/asked that the printed information be resumed.
  6. Why would an iPad be necessary? Isn't the device in the room basically used for Crystal-related activities such as excursions, menus, daily schedules? Just about everyone already has their own smart device, so maybe I'm missing something, but what added value would an in-room iPad have?
  7. Peanuts. Anyone remember this Crystal excursion? https://uk.news.yahoo.com/most-extravagant-cruise-excursion-ever-091100870.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAADjvLhXxJ7X44VroTmnnS0ht_2DXHDAMLZunf6eazbPxwfmDwQoMgkKvHQRyq3UDsJ7yQOqFZAWcaZ3_Itjfj6JPATCBvRadEPLKcQcWeHj-T-KG0JxDSPAzqHS65x8T0_fCFvSNARNlgdnNrTth5Q1-VO-ek1TKdXLd-8H2d7E-
  8. @jondfk I hope you speak both to the F&B manager and to the maître d’ regarding these totally unacceptable experiences. I would also be tempted to email Seabourn CEO Natalya Leahy, who apparently is taking a hands-on approach and just might be able to address this situation. I'm sorry you've had to put up with such horrible service and hope that things will turn around soon.
  9. Great advice. Even better...take two test kits per person because if you are symptomatic and the first test is negative, you should do a second test 48 hours later.
  10. Wallmart has been in business for 61 years, with 10,623 very successful retail stores and more on its way.
  11. I believe Prego on OC had beef carpaccio, not tartare.
  12. We stayed at Hôtel le Priori several years ago and liked it. Small boutique hotel located very near to the pier...in fact, we walked to the ship for embarkation. Located close to all the sites you want to see in QC. Has a nice lounge/bar. However, the standard rooms are tiny, so you should seriously consider their larger-sized rooms.
  13. In reality, the TK "bars" on the Odyssey-class ships are not really bars, they're purely ornamental. You don't sit there and you don't get served there. On the other hand, the TK bars on the Ovation-class ships are good-sized, comfortable lounges with exceptional service.
  14. I'm confused. If this was a "quick hop hover," what was your flight itinerary and where was the "tight connection?" I'm very sorry that you are having to go through this turmoil. Try your best to enjoy every moment of your cruise and put this inconvenience to the back of your mind!
  15. I would use the word "Only" advisedly. They sometimes add excursions (port city by port city) much closer to the cruise date. It would be worthwhile to check once a week or so up until the cruise.
  16. If you're keen on tonics, you might be interested in the "Ship Made Tonic With Gin" cocktail which is listed in the "Celebrity Cocktails" menu of The Observation Lounge bar. The tonic is made onboard using raw quinine powder. Regarding Fever Tree tonic, I have asked for it several times pre-cruise via the Preferences section of the Online Registration, but have always gotten Canada Dry or Schweppes in my mini-fridge instead, which is just fine.
  17. Well, Nancy, tell them to get on the ball and get it ready by October 21! 😀
  18. I hope that Crystal re-implements the ability to book a cruise directly from their website. This was possible on OC and I found this very useful, especially because we could see which specific cabins were available. I'm actually surprised this is not currently possible, because it most certainly would lead to more bookings.
  19. By all means! I very much appreciate your perspective on cruising.
  20. It is well known that there is some transmission of Covid by fomites, but numerous studies have shown that this is markedly less significant than airborne transmission. Some important quotes from this article: 1. "Despite the important findings, the researchers note that this is an observational study and as such cannot prove causation." 2. "Since we didn’t systematically sample household air, we cannot rule out airborne transmission occurring in parallel." This last point is critical and seems to make the findings of the article rather meaningless. It is still useful to wash hands and to clean surfaces, but doing so will only put a small dent into the spread of Covid.
  21. @USN59-79 That's a good point. However, I would say that what's left over from dinner one day is often incorporated into lunch the next day.
  22. As several people have mentioned, there's a lot more involved than just the price per square foot, of course. But those things (food, service, entertainment quality, etc.) are subjective. There are two measures that are objective: price per diem and size of cabin. Some might prefer the Seabourn experience over Crystal, while some might prefer the Crystal experience over Seabourn...that's all debatable. What isn't debatable is the price you pay and the size of your cabin. In any event, this is mostly a moot point because there are very few veranda or ocean view cabins on the new Crystal ships and they are mostly in undesirable locations.
  23. ...and at ~ 50% higher price. The point is that the entry level veranda cabin on Crystal is markedly smaller than the entry level veranda cabin on the other ultra-lux lines. And when you say "50% larger," yes, the old veranda suite was 215 sq ft, while the new Aquamarine Suite is 323 sq ft. But on Seabourn, for example, the basic veranda suite is 315 sq ft. Since, on average, the price per diem of an Aquamarine Suite is 50% more than Seabourn's basic veranda cabin, you're paying quite a bit more for an extra 8 sq ft of space.
