  1. I am not sure. The ship would sail anyway? I don't truly know if a full ship is more polluting (generating sewage, trash, food waste, etc) than a less full ship in terms of efficiency. It also are a few thousand pax less driving/flying to and from the port. It's not that extravagant if you think of widebody airplanes build as private jets for a handful of pax versus the hundreds the airlines squeeze in, yachts the size of smaller cruise ships with "just 20 staterooms" and a support yacht following the first yacht and constantly staffed. The factor is less with the charter from OP I think. Post Covid ships started up with those pax numbers or just a bit above, one more or less? Not wanting to turn this into an environmental thing.. 600 hopefully well behaved pax: where do I sign? And as for the tipping, I don't think the guests will be tipping but I hope the main guest will hand the captain a big tip envelope at disembarkation..
  2. Lodging in Alaska comes at a price (too, what not in Alaska.. ) is my experience, we've booked some conveniently located hotels too and in Anchorage even as short as for four or five hours of sleep and as long it's a decent enough bed and bathroom I will be happy. Some hotels looked really outdated, even some of the chain hotels. So not expecting much for those two, three star hotels.. They will sell their inventory anyway I guess. Long reply short; I lowered expectations and will get some sleep on the flight back home. Safe travels!
  3. Bringing an Apple TV media player onboard? Not better off with one of those Lighting (or USB C in case of newer iPads or iPhone 15) to HDMI adapter cables?
  4. Planning an Alaska trip.. Cruise: Vancouver, Inside passage, Ketchikan; Wildlife viewing, Potlatch Totem Park, Herring Cove, South Tongass Waterfall tour Sitka; 4X4 ATV Tour/ATV Wildlife Tour Juneau, ? Icy Strait Point, Exclusive Wildlife and Bear Search Hubbard Glacier; (cruising, not getting off the ship) Seward, Alaska 2 days land based: Kenai Fjords NP 7½hr boat tour (..Visit two active tidewater glaciers, best cruise for glacier viewing) Kenai Fjords NP 1hr scenic flight + glacier landing Alaska Railroad to Anchorage Some sidenotes: Like everybody we hope to see all kinds of wildlife, we've set the focus for port time on land based excursions as we hope to see plenty whales/marine life in the Kenai fjords boat tour after our cruise. We've decided to stay on board the ship at Hubbard Glacier, expecting a better experience at Kenai Fjords? We're too early for the salmon run. The big question for the experts: Would you plan a visit to Mendenhall Glacier with our itinerary as a must see? Juneau is our longest port of call, we had it optional in our plans with a DIY/taxi/bus but the thread about the Mendenhall Glacier recommendation from Juneau visitor's bureau made us doubt if we should pre book something? Any other suggestions? All feedback is appreciated! Thanks!
  5. Welcome to CC! It might be a too short ride for them perhaps, or try overcharging you for it if you don't use Uber. Budget wise: go public transport all the way, take R Net 382 from IJmuiden Badweg stop to Amsterdam Sloterdijk station and take a 5 minute train to Amsterdam Centraal station. Journey time is about 1 hour. Plan your trip with https://9292.nl/en Or try your roll call and see if you can share a pre-booked van or even an coach; random but trustful company: https://doelen.net/ Enjoy The Netherlands!
  6. Hmm.. well there could be a second stretched up part besides the larger Atrium part? Prima/Viva: Length 299.0m (981 feet) (some site even have 294 m / 965 ft) Aqua: Length 321.8m (1,056 feet) Lots of differences online on Aqua's length, https://maritime-executive.com/article/norwegian-s-next-cruise-ship-norwegian-aqua-is-floated-by-fincantieri takes 1st place with a whopping 1,506 feet. The Norwegian Aqua is 1,506 feet in length and will measure 156,300 gross tons when completed versus the Norwegian Prima which is 965 feet in length and 143,535 gross tons. That is nearly 460 meters, LOL that would make Icon of the Seas almost a tender boat.. heheh! Royal what? Aqua-uite can't hear yooouuu
  7. Excellent thread for all the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Rotterdam Centraal Station answers. The Intercity Direct that @VMax1700 used is also more tailored for larger pieces of luggage than the normal trains would be (and even those are actually good!). The first class advice given is also good for the added comfort but riding on the balcony or near it in second class is also very doable as proven. The Dutch railways website for those who are planning future trips: www.ns.nl Anything else?
  8. You are overthinking this. I am sure the paper ticket does not has to be fitted into something but the reference is just a measure to assure decent sized QR-/barcodes for properly scanning the paper tickets. From the Tower of London website: RECEIVE TICKETS BY EMAIL OR PRINT AT HOME Download your PDF ticket to your mobile for scanning at the entrance or Click the link in the email that we’ll send you and print out all your tickets If you are not able to download your e-tickets using the link in your confirmation email, please show your reference number which begins 42xxxxxxxxx to the ticket desk when you arrive and staff on site will be able to print your tickets for you. You can show them the PDF files (stored in your cell's email) or the reference number in case my assumption is wrong.
  9. Hull 6301, Leo 4, also arrived last week @Steff79. Greeted by the Venice linesmen https://www.facebook.com/ormeggiatori.venezia and already in dry dock. Some nice photos on their FB! Great for an opening post of a Leo 4 thread if you are up for it, despite the slow pace the threads are a nice timeline or reference work for future cruisers.
  10. I guess not, almost any ship except Reflection: https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/pickleball
  11. IJmuiden is definitely a port to pre-book transport unless you only fancy a walk on the nearby beach with a coffee or beer afterwards. IJmuiden is not connected by public rail but does have public busses to Haarlem and Amsterdam which are not sufficient for cruise calls I guess.. As said, price will be high.
  12. Hi fellow CC'ers, would love to hear Seward restaurants recommendations and/or some alternatives for some sweet pastries.. for a family birthday, might be a dinner, might be just a piece of cake on the hotel room depending how the day goes. Thanks!
  13. Perhaps here's some more specific dates for future Leonardo ships: https://www.fincantieri.com/globalassets/supplier/fc---2024---dichiarazioni-alto-mare-ricevute-16.01.2024_v.3.pdf (note the filename has date 16 Jan 2024) May be a bit too small to read so here goes a quick copy paste and small edit: 6298 PRIMA 6299 VIVA 6300 mar-25 3 (AQUA) 6301 mar-26 LEONARDO 4 6302 apr-27 – LEONARDO 5 6303 apr-28 – LEONARDO 6 And the latest NCLH order: 6354 dic-26 NCL BAHAMAS LTD 6354 6355 lug-29 NCL BAHAMAS LTD 6355 6359 lug-27 NCL BAHAMAS LTD 6359 6360 dic-28 NCL BAHAMAS LTD 6360 6361 apr-30 NCL BAHAMAS LTD 6361 With one of them probably be one of the two new builds for Oceania, as hull 6367 down the rows is intended for Oceania with the note "New Oceania" added to it. In total eight new ships after Aqua, only the dates don't match with recent media postings.
  14. Thanks for replying. Although indeed not the same this seems to best way(s) to go for a birthday celebration! Thanks!
  15. That's gone too, just realised that. They did delete the floral category, that is something at least. Still wondering why they did half a job..
  16. The Gifts by Celebrity webshop is a mess.. it's totally stripped with zero items in some categories now. Does anyone know if there still is a way to (pre)order a birthday cake for cabin delivery? What's available does not meet our needs and wishes as a gift to someone: The Premium Package: "For the ultimate indulgence, start off the morning with breakfast in your stateroom complete with mimosas, reservations for two at one of the chic specialty restaurants on board, and a personalized cake (choose from 5 different cakes). Later, in the evening, we’ll deliver a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne, and a dozen chocolate-dipped strawberries." Very romantic but not what we need, we just need a cake or at most a package of a cake and stateroom decoration. The mess I mean, example: https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-gifts/items-results?category=CULDEL&collection=CELCAKE this gives you zero platters (I know I said I want a cake but checked all categories..), click the pull down Culinary Delights and a Cheese & Fruit platter appears. Wished it still had the cake category around to do the same trick heh. I emailed X about this too, this was the reply: "I am very sorry, our Celebrity Store did go through some changes, and we no longer offer cakes for purchase, the items that are shown on the website are the only items that we have available to purchase. We have not been advised if cakes and other gift items will be brought back. If you do have a cruise booked with us, and you are not trying to purchase a gift for someone else who is sailing, there should be an area in pre-cruise planner (where you booked shore excursions and things like that), called gifts and gear. There are some items in there that can be ordered . I don't think I have seen a cake but there are other items." I am not aware of any other ways to order a cake for a standard cabin?
  17. I think the vodka is something from the past. It's wine, water, fruit plate etc, as posted above. Staff will be reducing service when the dinner service starts at the Lawn Club Grill and it may get chilly and they will clean up other alcoves around you before anybody will, even at all, tell you it's time.
  18. Found this guy sharing his photos with shoe covers, I guess he liked the Aqua more! Close up of one of his photos, the hull art is coming on! Originals:
  19. For those posted here and/or anyone's future reference, @Beezo's thread has some excellent info, including some incredible renders: Probably best if we keep that one and discuss it there but I thought that thread was started on April 1st when I first saw the renders of those mountains.. 🔒
