  1. Do you eat your meals together as a group or are the meal times flexible? I am asking because there are a few tours that I would like to sign up for but I'm guessing they would be pretty close to meal time. I don't want to miss out on the meals that I have already paid for but if the meal times are flexible - then I should be good. Any insight on this and other aspects of the connoisseur tour would be very much appreciated. We sail June 4th, cruise before land tour. Can't wait!

I've done the Princess C tour in 2009. Doing it again next year. There might have been two nights (out of 7) that were 'scheduled'. One was the first night for a wine pairing dinner (not sure if it is still done, but it introduced the tour guide and let you know the logistics of the land tour). The other was the Denali dinner theatre. Personally, I know that both nights were skipped by some for one reason or another. Letting your guide know what you are up to is of the utmost of importance. He/she will provide information for the next day of travel. If you DON'T let them know, scrambling ensues. Contact the front desk of the lodge that day if unable to find your tour guide. Communication is key.

Your tour guide will set up anytime you like for dinners, as long as the restaurants were open. *This is why you chose this tour in the first place* :) They will also help you with any tours you wish to schedule (Princess sponsored) and give wise advice on where/when to do certain activities.

Going on memory, any Princess land excursion ends at a time that allows you to have dinner. If you choose an outside tour, it would be in your best interest to let them know.

You are going to have an AWESOME trip!!!

  2. Trying to remember if you could choose an alternative for that show/dinner. Doing the same C tour again next year, with the show once again included.

Just looking to try something different. Does anyone know if you can choose a dining alternative?

  3. I am hoping to have a formal family photo taken on our upcoming Anthem cruise. Since there is no designated "formal night", do the photographers have an area set up nightly for photos? What type of backdrops do they have?

    Thank you!

Don't know about the backdrops, but I've seen the set-ups during sea days on the Quantum near the free restaurants.

  4. I tried to understand your reasoning until you said "I don't go on vacation to support the crew".

Agreed, if the service sucks that bad, adjust the tips.

But I would like to remind you that some of us are or have been in the service business and tend to get offended, including me.

The crew supports every part of your cruise. Yes, there might be a crummy waiter here or there. There might be a Guest Service rep that doesn't give you exactly what you want. But there are other ways to correct situations, labeling the whole crew tends to ruffle a few feathers.

I'm sure you did not mean to condone all the crew, but please understand why some took offense.

  5. I spent too much time on it last year trying to get a correct photo and downloading it, when going on the Quantum. After all my tries, and getting an 'OK' from the website....they still took my pic at the pier. It took 3 seconds.

Not even going to try to pre-photo for my Anthem cruise. They do it with their Ipad at check in.

Think about it. There are many cruisers out there who don't have the technology. There has to be a back up.

  6. I have a couple of questions about the Internet package on the anthem.

Can I share the 2 device package with another person?

Does wifi work in the cabins on Anthem? Would we then be able to stream movies in our room on our tablets?

You can even share a 1 device package but you both can't use it at the same time. Just log off one to use the other...logging off has to be done on the ship. :D

  7. We have sailed out of Bayonne. I put luggage tags on a case of water with packing tape and put it with our luggage. It was delivered to our room. Others purchased cases of water in San Juan when we docked there and carried it on. You can purchase a Evian water package if you choose. We are planning on taking a case of water on the Anthem on our 4/8/16 voyage. If for some reason it doesn't work and it is confiscated, we are only out $5.00.

Hi! Come on over to our April 8 roll call. http://www.cruisecritic.com/rollcalls/anthem-of-the-seas-april-8-2016/

  8. It's not a keeping the balcony door issue its a flawed design of the partitions. Maintenance has come up to the room several times to try and fix it. Unfortunately the ship is still under warranty and the German company that built the ship will have to fix it. Maintenance tried wd40 but unfortunately didn't work at all!

If that is the case, they solved 99 percent of the noise in the first three days.

  9. I have wondered if others haven't closed their balcony door all the way (banging noise).

On the Quantum, I noticed things quieted down when the air conditioner was a top priority in their cabin. In other words, if you don't turn the handle to the correct position, the a/c doesn't work. Simply sliding the door shut won't engage it.

  10. The closest experience I can think of to Azamara would be to do a Connoisseur Cruisetour. You start in Vancouver, sail north to Whittier, and then do an escorted land tour around Alaska. You can also do the reverse if you prefer. This would show you the most of Alaska while giving you a more All-Inclusive experience. As others have noted, extra costs on Princess would be tips, drinks, specialty restaurant cover charges, spa treatments, shore excursions, casino, and boutiques. Of course many of those are optional. The Voyage of the Glacier one way cruises take you to Glacier Bay, which is not to be missed. To fly home conveniently from Anchorage, you could take Icelandair or Condor. Whatever you choose, have a great cruise!

But if you do the Connoisseur Cruisetour, the land portion, there is no tipping. It's all included except for the tour guide...$5-$7 US per day.

  11. If you are going to Tracy Arm, then there is a Princess tour from the ship. If you are going to Juneau, I would skip Tracy Arm. It will probably take 4 hours, round trip to get there from Juneau. There is too much to see in Juneau to waste that amount if time in transit. Timsco has a Glacier landing tour that is very interesting, and Gasteneau Guiding has a number of great whale watching tours. Glacier Bay will give you your fill of glaciers.

When you say there is a Princess tour from the ship, do you mean they pull up along side the ship to pick you up? I did something like that in New Zealand. Very neat.

  12. I fear I"m missing something obvious here but want to make sure I get it right. I'm trying to redeem RCI visa points for OBC and there are two choices for each increment... ex. $50 OBC single occupancy or $50 double occupancy. Both are the same amount of points. What is the difference? Thanks!

I believe if you are sharing a cabin with, let's say, your spouse, you can choose to put OBC on your own account, or, let your spouse help spend it. :)

If you are sharing a cabin with a friend and you want them to use their own spending money, the single OBC would be the way to go.
