  1. No, any wine or alcohol purchased in a port will be taken from you and returned the last night of the cruise. Occasionally they don't take it but that is the exception rather than the rule.

While that is the official policy, on our last cruise, we bought some wine in one of the port and security didn't care to even say anything about it after seeing it in the xray machine.

  2. Just finished a tour with Barcelona Day tours with Christian as our driver.

Christian was very prompt and extremely great in all aspect of the tour. The day in Barcelona was great and we even got to go to a flower shop as an extra before we got back to the ship.

He dropped us as close as possible to all the sights and was there waiting for when we are back.

Thanks again to the BDT team and Christian for making our day in Barcelona unforgettable one.

  3. We stayed in a Celebrity Suite on Eclipse for our March Caribbean cruise and had no issues with the air conditioning in the bed room. My only complaint about the a/c is general and not just to this suite is that it seems Celebrity cuts power to the a/c at night so the rooms all get a bit warmer.

I'd beg to differ about cutting power. We are currently on the Equinox and usually at night I have to get up and turn down the ac as it was getting too cold for the past 8 days

  4. We will be in Russia for 3 days. On a private tour. The cost is $650 each which includes a train to Moscow from St. Petersburg. The tour company suggests 10% to the guide, 5% for drivers. We will have different guides and drivers in Moscow. How do we tip and how much?

10% for 650 is crazy if you ask me.

Rome In Limo used to suggest 10-20% but since has removed that line from their website.

No European is going to tip that much on a 500-600 dollars tour.

After much reading on here and trip advisor, I'm going to go with $20 for a full day and $5 for a private guide in museums.

  5. At Port of Miami, I had one of the porters include as part of his spiel when taking my bags that now was the time to give him his gratuity. I had fully intended to give him $ per bag and had it in my hand ready to go but instead went to his supervisor and complained. Another porter was summoned to finish the transaction, and he got the tip. It's inappropriate to beg customers for cash, period. Most businesses hate when they find out that their employees are doing it. I wish more people would report those rogue employees because, in addition to being extremely rude, it's not fair to their fellow workers.

I had the same experience once at Port Canaveral, as we were unloading the luggage and the porter said to me "tell that man (my dad who was coming with us) that tip goes to me". We were on vacation so I let it go but porters like that shouldn't be working in a service industry for tips.

  6. No, it means that the companies know that most English language clients can be easily led to give tips.

Romecabs.. a highly regarded company here on CC even on their page suggest that 10% to 15% begin. Which I find highly misleading if not outright con.

  7. The perks seemed to have changed again!!

We have a september cruise booked on Relfection. This time we booded AQ as we fancied the use of the persion gardens and dining in blue.

Our last cruise was CC and even though we enjoyed it, the spa was a big bonus for us

Checking the uk web site i now see AQ is listed as having access to the relaxation room only..not the persion gardens!

I realy don't understand how we can book one thing and then when we turn up discover we have lost one of the main reasons we booked that class of cabin.

Also notice that 'welcome water' is listed rather than sparking wine! Not important for us, but it may be for some people.

GRR That would make me pretty mad, we have a CC cabin coming up in 3 weeks and the expanded breakfast menu in addition to the cabin location is what made CC worth it to us when we booked it a year ago. Now they're charging it?

  8. Hmm...I'm confused as to why some of you can't see them. I didn't do anything different between yesterday and today. For those of you that can't see them, what are you using to read this review (mobile app, iPad, desktop PC, etc., and what software)?

Thanks for posting this review but alas, can't see the pics either

tested on both iphone via tmobile's cell connection and also on my main pc with landline ISP.

  9. Last time in select dining, we were offered the choice of our own table or a shared table of 10 if none for 2 were available.

Although with though with the shared table you are most likely have to wait for the table to fill up before you're offered menus etc

  10. The evening service is not just a turn-down, the steward also cleans the bathroom again and changes any towels that are needed. As well of course, as sometimes producing towel animals.

Exactly. We would have appreciated new towels etc more then them turning over my bed but it's part of the cruising experience and my wife does love the towel animals. She usually save them all and make a mini zoo
