  1. Thank you. And we always sail in the summer so families aren’t a negative, but this year both DD are spending Thanksgiving with in-laws so we thought it would be a great time to getaway. More was wondering for social reasons as families usually stick together and we are very social passengers. Plus the first Thanksgiving without the grandkids so a little melancholy. Just trying to put together options before Thanksgiving airfare prices start showing. Thank you again for the information.
  2. I know this is a holiday based in the US, but anyone that has cruised during the week of Thanksgiving, is it usually crowded, with a lot of families? If you did, which itinerary did you travel? We are looking at ones closer to the Americas for a shorter flight. But open to anything at this point.
  3. Our cruise on Emerald just opened to bids. I am not interested in bidding but was curious. (Traded cabins twice to get my perfect location as cabins cancelled) To upgrade from a balcony to reserved mini is 610. per cabin minimum. When we booked my TA quoted 1000. per cabin more if we wanted a reserved mini. So minimum bid is 400.00 difference. To some it may be worth it. I am just not seeing the value.
  4. We were able to make our specialty dinners with linked bookings. I made our UBD reservation for the one night. So all that is left is to make sure we get into the casual dining restaurants at least once. Do we go to the MDR midship to make those reservations, upon boarding?
  5. I have been on Regent twice and will be going on Silversea in the fall. The reason we are going on Princess is because of a family reunion with the in-laws. We have noticed that we are only a few hundreds cheaper on Princess. Balcony to balcony. We have purchased everything that we would get on an all-inclusive. The deals that you can get on the luxury ships make it comparable. With that said, looking forward to trying Princess. We swore off ocean cruises after family reunion NCL and the amusement park ship. Regent brought us back, then reunion on Celebrity and I like that Princess is comparable to Celebrity. Sun doesn’t appeal to me but I am sure it will to many. For the prices, I could easily be on an inclusive line. I have to compliment cc posters as the Princess folks are a lot less snarky (yes there are a few) then RSSC and Silversea threads.
  6. No it was only a guarantee. Maybe knowing which cabin would have made a difference. When we booked there were plenty of cabins and we could have picked a mini on deck 9, but I really liked Carib deck 10 and we like the end of mid aft. 1/2 covered deck on a large balcony is better than a sofa to us. The cabin is a perfect choice for us. The offer was only 200. more but regret is worth a lot more. This is our first Princess, and on Emerald. From looking on the website there are a lot of minis and only a couple of balconies left. I guess that was why our TA got the offer. And it was an email not a call. I got that incorrect. Maybe they are emailing now before moving.
  7. @GK95 I would pay 30.00 to see him again. He was so entertaining and enjoyed his stories.
  8. Is the chef Darren McGrady? We saw him on RSSC and he was fantastic. He moved to Texas after Diana’s death.
  9. My TA got a call from Princess that they will upgrade me for a small amount from balcony to a guaranteed mini suite. We turned it down as we chose deck 10, near aft and I don’t care to take the chance on a location I don’t like. It is marked no upgrade as we are sailing with others. I hope they don’t decide to upgrade us anyway. Hopefully someone else with take the upgrade.
  10. I am assuming sister ship Emerald is the same. Our cabin is aft so we had a lot of them Botticelli but I just changed all but 2 nights just for a change and those will probably be the casual dining nights anyway. @mamafunthank you for the question.
  11. We were across the hall from 2 closets and it was a mistake I will never make again. It was not only opening and closing doors early morning but trying to walk back to our room was an obstacle course of carts. It was 2 closets next to each other. One was where they replenished the carts and the other was storing carts. This was not on a Princess ship so walls may have been thinner. I make sure there are no blank spaces around us as well as above and below when I book a cabin. I am also a very light sleeper so that doesn’t help.
  12. Aft or mid-aft is our favorite location. And more walking means more calories can be consumed. There usually are elevators near enough.
  13. Dang, no banner. I will have to keep watching. Thank you for the heads up.
  14. Where did you see they were on sale? Princess website, not entered as a booked passenger? App? Email?
  15. Your symptoms sound a lot like food poisoning. Did you ever get a diagnosis? I hope you recovered and the ride home was bearable.
  16. Even the clam shells at Princess Cay went up $10 more.
  17. 1. Does the aft elevator go to deck 19? from deck 10? 2. Some youtube videos have a footstool with the balcony furniture on deck 10 cabins and some do not. Is this something I will have to ask for? What has been your experience asking for additional furniture? 3. We always stay aft as we find the back of the ship bars, pools, etc are not a busy. What is your experience with the aft spaces? Thank you in advance
  18. I was talking about the establishments around here that allows smoking in the assigned areas that are enclosed. If Princess doesn’t have an up-to-date system for smoking, then that is not good. Companies have developed great systems. I am sure that aren’t cheap.
  19. I guess I am a bit spoiled as our state that has 100’s of casino’s and a law that includes anywhere that allows smoking they must be in a separate room with a certain coded exhaust system. I don’t smoke and my DH may have 12 cigars all year, mainly on vacation. So no skin in this except I think Princess is doing this out of $$ not the goodness of health. An arcade is a casino for the young without any luck of winning.
  20. That is what could have been replaced. In RSSC they replaced all filter systems. The exhaust fans were amazing. I would never sit in a place full of any type of smoke.
  21. It’s 2024 and the vent filter systems they installed eliminates smoke quickly. We go to a cognac and cigar bar in the area because we love the bar and I don’t smoke. The bartender we love has worked there 7 years. I guess I didn’t notice that ball and chain that is attached to him.
  22. Per the Princess website: the Reserve Collection does include some extras if you are willing to pay the price. Wasn’t enough to entice us for 1000. more. We were able to get a mid aft balcony on deck 10 (Emerald Princess). We would much rather have the bigger balcony than stateroom and didn’t care for the Dolphin deck.
  23. @HaveDogWillTravel Just reserved a bungalow. We want to be by the water for snorkeling so did not get Sanctuary. I will go to the Excursion desk and ask if 8 is available. Thank you for all the. information.
  24. I am well past my partying days and relaxation is the only reason I would go. There are plenty other places onboard for visiting. We would be fine paying for the other couple if they let four, but I am not going to try and beat people to get one so this is probably a no-go. Both of our jobs are high stress so we try to keep vacation stress at a minimum. When we board I will go up and check and if there is one we will get one, if not, we will enjoy the cruise without one. We can make our own Sanctuary with our opened adjoining balconies. 🙂
