  1. I was on a carnival ship for thanksgiving last year. It's not your grandma's cooking, but still a pretty decent Thanksgiving spread. The pecan pie was pretty amazing.
  2. 40 days, 14 hours and 20 minutes until im off for 2 weeks to the Panama Canal
  3. this is one of the greatest posts that i have ever seen in my entire life, in any place, at any time, on any forum in all of history. OLE. Old Lady Error. i'm stealing that and using it. probably as soon as tomorrow.
  4. Can confirm. $15 blackjack tables in Tunica, MS on a Tuesday.
  5. I think that recently they removed that option for cruises that are under 2 weeks or something like that. Log into carnival's site and go to the spot where you shop for in room beverages. If your sailing is long enough, the liquor will show up on the list and you can pre order it and have the bottle delivered to your stateroom. The prices are high, but probably still a discount compared to what it would cost at the bar.
  6. i think it has been upgraded by like a half dozen banks. it's trading over 17 today. im in at 9.84 for 100 shares just to get the onboard credit. currently up 75.73%. im probably gonna hold and bet on some real upside over the next year or so. here is my completely non technical analysis which is in no way financial advice. they went for a year with 0 revenue and bills to pay. that tanks them since technical traders have to get out for a reasons like that. but now they're back to normal and beating earnings estimates, and going into the quarter where i assume they'll post the biggest gains (summer cruising season) they are too big to be broken up and managed by other lines. the likelihood of bankruptcy and getting sold off is slim. nearly 50% of the shares are held by institutions. they refinanced debt and issued some shares not long ago which put them at a 5 year low when it dipped into the $6 range. it is now up like over 100% in the last 90 days. bookings are up. earnings are up and beat expectations, although still negative...but way up. revenue is up like way up. and now it appears that they are well on the way to going back to what they were doing in 2018 when they were trading at around 3x what they're trading at now. that being...operate casinos that charge for drinks and that you have to pay to access by way of the cruise fare. if you can't make money doing that they you can't make money doing anything. fuel cost headwinds could be a concern but it's my understanding that they contract for fuel into the future as a hedge against just that sort of thing. so i wouldn't expect those prices to lead to a catastrophic event. maybe a headwind here or there, but they know what they're doing. they've shut down i believe...most of the fantasy class ships which were less efficient and carried less passengers...and thereby less profitable. so the fleet should be more profitable than it was in 2018. long story short...most of the big banks have moved them from hold to buy and are suggesting long positions. they're more efficient than they were in 2018 which should all things equal make them more profitable. they beat most earnings estimates and the share price has reflected a great deal of confidence on the part of investors that they will continue to do so. (if im wrong...like totally wrong and you drop 1400 on 100 shares and it drops back to that 5 year low of 6 bucks...the way to claw back your value is built in with the shareholder onboard credit...so you can drink and vacation and do your part in the casino to recover your capitol and contribute to their bottom line for both their sake and your own).
  7. Here's a little video from my phone that shows where the small boat arrives in Belize.
  8. The package says that gratuity is included, so you don't have to give them anything extra. But they do print a slip for you to sign with each drink, and I always write $1 in for an additional tip. The package also says no sharing, and so they're not required to let you share, but the impression that I got was that the bartenders loved it that I was doing the gesture of throwing in that extra $1, and that they did not seem to notice at all on the few occasions that I decided to share a bit.
  9. To rationalize it to myself that I was breaking even, I opted for nice glasses of wine at dinner and top shelf booze at the bars since they're priced at the higher end and therefore it takes less of them to get to the break even point. There were a few glasses on the wine list that were $14 and so over the course of a day it's not hard to get to the point of saving $.
  10. Loved Belize. Quick ride in a small boat from the ship to the shore. Very walkable, lively, and easy to get out into the area on foot. One of my favorites.
  11. on the glory in november you could get cartons of coconut water at the bar next to the pool
  12. I got cheers on my last cruise and for me it was worth the price for a few reasons. 1) I like the espresso bar and those are included, 2) it's nice to be able to get the coconut waters, bottled waters and the gatorade and the milkshakes (which also add value) and 3) you don't have to shy away from the more expensive drinks, (there were some nice wines that were priced at $14 per glass as well as some really good cocktails at the alchemy bar that were around $12, and so you can have a few at dinner and get a lot of value out of the cheers package. And finally, 4) it's nice to not have to think about what you're spending while you're on vacation.
  13. Just tell her to close her eyes and take her to the airport and get on the plane and just keep telling her not to open them until you're on the ship.
  14. This is the best way to do it. You can give your sail and sign to the dealers at the tables and get chips that way, but there is a 3% charge. Charging it at the slots and then exchanging for chips at the cage avoids the fee.
  15. I was on the glory with ytd in November and I forget the name of the dining room that I was assigned to, but it's midship and can be entered just behind the main bar at the bottom of the elevator in the lobby. I liked it because I could hang out at that bar and listen to the bands while waiting. Service inside was great every time.
  16. I did 8 days solo in November over Thanksgiving at it was awesome. Drink, gamble, eat, nap in no particular order, repeat. You'll love it.
  17. There are several wines on the menu that area around $14 per glass. If you feel as though on a certain day you may not get the value out of the cheers package, just have a few of those glasses of wine at dinner and you're halfway there. Also being able to just pick up a bottle of water at any bar is a nice perk. The coffeeshop, gatorades, coconut water, milkshakes...it's not hard to spend $60 bucks a day. I think about it like this...if you got cheers, and ended up not breaking even...like say you would have spent $50 less by just buying drinks one by one...the $50 might still be worth it because over the course of your cruise you didn't have to think about it or worry about keeping track of your tab. There's some value in being able to relax and just not worry about it.
  18. it was already answered but thank you for your input. you've been helpful and i appreciate your kindness.
  19. Just got off an 8 day on the Glory and the food was better than I remembered from the last times that I cruised, (2014). Some standouts.... The pig patty at guy's burger. This was really good and if they sold them at a place in my city I'd go there and order one right now. Everything was hot and fresh and consistent over the course of the entire cruise. Excellent lunch. The french toast at the sea day brunch. Remarkable. Again, I would pay for this and be excited to eat it any time, any place. Wake up early, get down there, and don't miss it. The BBQ joint in the red sail restaurant. Only open from 12 to 3. I tried the pork, the chicken and the brisket. The pork wins hands down. Don't forget the mac and cheese. Those carbs are critical for your recovery from a night of trying to max out your cheer's package. In the MDR... The bitter en blanc. Just call it bread pudding ok? It's bread pudding, it's simultaneously soggy and crispy, and you should order it. The brisket served on what I think was day 2 maybe...excellent. The shortribs...I was shocked. Came apart with just a pull of a fork and had a great texture. Would definitely eat them again. All the cold fruit soups. All the cheese plates. All the wine. 10/10 would do it again.
  20. i just got off the glory and i noticed that the 1 day wifi plans are available but not for the lowest priced plan. so you'd have to get the 2nd one up and it was $20 per day.
  21. You should definitely buy cheers. The good drinks at alchemy are over $10 each. There are a handful of wines by the glass that are around $14. Coffee bar is included. Bottles of water, gatorade and coconut water are included. It's not hard to hit $60 a day. If you buy it and you feel like you're missing out on value, just have 3 glasses of wine with dinner and then grab another later in the evening and if you get the expensive ones you break even after 4 of them.
  22. Not necessary. Most people don't wear them. Some do. If he wants to dress up, a tie should be enough.
