  1. Thanks, We are deciding wither to take an early 10:30AM flight from HND or later 5:30PM flight from NRT.
  2. Surprise - We're booked on the Riviera Sept 2025 and the fare has gone up $800pp. Which is why we book as soon as we know which cruise we want!
  3. We take a large suitcase and never have had a problem. We really don't lug anything, you have porters at the hotel, ship and even at the airports. I'd rather wait 10 or 15 minutes than have to carry you bags on and off the plane, or hotel room and the ship.
  4. Question: If you arrive in Tokyo via the ship and you over night on the ship before debarkation, do you clear Japanese immigration the dy you arrive--and can you get off the ship early the day of debarkation? Thank you ahead...and great reviews........
  5. I'm 81 now and if I can't travel because of my health (really age shouldn't be a factor) that is my decision and my Doctors. That is also why I carry travel insurance. It's a choice you make, plus when leaving the ship I always plan or my returning to the ship 4 hours before departure. A lot of people cut it short leaving only an hour (for me that isn't enough time should something happen.
  6. Don't you think that is different that someone just being late because of shopping, or staying later at a spot of interest to them. We're talking about inconsiderate people.
  7. Sure it happens, but not so much these days. Lufthansa waited once, we were in First , but they really waited for 110 students they didn't want too put up for the night nor keeping them safe. The others on late flight going to other major cities didn't fair so well. Basically they didn't hold the flight because we were flying first, it was the cost putting up the kids flying.
  8. Just an opinion - it cost the ship more $$$$ to be headed at a port longer than planned-which in turn is passed on down the road to those that got to the ship on time. It's all about profit overall and that is the bottom line.
  9. Do you think an airline is ever going to wait, even when you are arriving on that airline that was late for you're connecting flight...............
  10. Sorry, I didn't mean you personally, I was generalizing that things happen and would make you late. My apologies for using your story as a base for my comment.
  11. Things happen, but why should 1198 other people have to wait?
  12. Unfortunately it really doesn't matter--if you go on your own, you are responsible to get back to the ship (on time). I would say I go off myself 90% of the time-and I've never been late because I keep track time and always leave extra time for mishaps.
  13. Must mean the ships now are going out maybe pretty full-and they don't except a slow down in travel.
  14. I think people that make a choice to go on their own have to be responsible to get back to the ship on time. Why should a very few people make everyone else wait.......Same with tours, how many times have you waited on a bus for someone because they are late for a tour. Come on, people should be responsible.
  15. Same with us, our TA never charges fee--but for the booking gives us perks or amenities. The air I prefer to have control so I book myself to get the dates and class of service. We always go in two days early and usually stay a week after the cruise.
  16. If it was non refundable, it most likely was coming from your TA. It came from Oceania or if your TA is part of a travel consortium. The TA we us always gives refundable.
  17. For, even without the name as long as the food stayed the same. I just think that restaurant on the ship is outstanding.
  18. Isn't authentic what ever you think is. Authentic to one isn't authentic to someone else.
  19. They always bring on an expert on the canal, they have a pre lecture and once you start the canal they will speck thought out the crossing.
  20. Let's just hope everyone washes their hands many times during a cruise. That will help a lot.
  21. Our preference is to book air separately from the cruise. That way we can go and stay a few days before and after the cruise. We can book the day, time and the carrier we want. Plus getting the seats we want, not depending on anyone. We also enjoy leaving the hotel at the time we want-no crowded buses and arriving to the Port at the time we want. It's just nicer for us. The ports have plenty of porters so no worry about luggage, the doorman puts in the car, the porter takes it and we find the luggage in our suite. A great way to start a cruise. I realize it isn't for everyone, but works for us.
  22. I hope they keep the restaurant on the ship, that was my favorite ones on the ship. Food always top notch (in my opinion).
  23. We when port to port on Silversea over Christmas/New Years 2023-2024 and we got points. We deport to port because we like control of travel and the days before and after the cruise.
  24. I like the idea, but should be system wide.
