  1. My husband thought the same thing when I told him about this incident.
  2. That happened to me on my first NCL cruise. We were at Cozumel and did a full day ship’s excursion to Chichen Itza which requires the ferry to the mainland and back plus very long bus rides to/from the site. We encountered downpours on the drive back which slowed us down and caused traffic back-ups. We wound up back in Cozumel about 45 minutes after sail away time. The ship had already pulled away from the dock and was sitting waiting for our group. We had to take a little tender boat over to the ship and board from there. There were like 30 people or so in our group plus it was our last port of the trip with a sea day the following day so I’m sure those factors influenced the decision to wait.

  4. I see several references to a breakfast buffet in The Haven. Is this in addition to the standard Haven breakfast menu? What items are offered in this buffet?
  5. Okay. So it is coming. So many missing things on this ship. Nice to know they will be there eventually but so frustrating if you booked one of the early dates.

  9. So the Prime Rib trolley does exist? I thought someone in this forum had reported it was not happening on Sun?
  10. The S and M class Celebrity ships have Luminae adjacent to the MDR so they share a kitchen, (although I think Luminae may get its own section). That's because Luminae was carved out of a section of the MDR to create it. It has a separate menu, although guests can order from the MDR menu as well. On the Edge class ships, Luminae is located some distance from the MDR so it has its own kitchen, and it has its own menu. Guests cannot order from the MDR menu on those ships.
  11. I'm just telling you what people onboard Sun are reporting in other forums. Two different passengers confirmed this. There was a captain's reception in the piazza but no champagne waterfall. One of them asked staff if this was a miss for that particular cruise and was told they will not be doing it on Sun.
  12. Word is that they are not doing this on Sun Princess.
  13. Were these same items offered for free at the suites breakfast on other ships or just not offered at all?

  16. All about Sun Princess ice cream options
  17. This thread has proven to me to never book a new ship within a couple months of launching. I did it once on Celebrity Edge for a maiden voyage and got lucky that everything was operating but Sun has been a bit of a debacle. I think folks who have been on it so far and have been very disappointed shouldn’t write the ship off entirely. I don’t think we’ll be able to fully judge the ship for several more sailings once all the venues are operational.
  18. Is the room service menu the same for suites? I thought I read somewhere that suites get an upgraded menu?
  19. Here's an example of one in Tennessee. Obviously won't look the same on the cruise ship but it gives you a general sense of how it works.
  20. Yes. The video I grabbed this still from made the lounge look really, really nice with fantastic views when out to sea. It was a reel though so I wasn't able to download and share it here.
  21. You said "The whole point of buying a suite is to ensure access to a lounge chair on demand, just like I always had under the traditional system." That is a false statement. Booking a suite prior to Sun Princess (which is what you meant by "like I always had" which is referencing your cruises from the past which were not on Sun Princess since that is a new ship) did not guarantee you access to a lounge chair unless it was an included feature on your suite's balcony. That is what I was responding to.

  23. This is definitely the case and has been confirmed by someone on board the ship now. Suite guests can use any area of the Sanctuary. Any paid guests into the Sanctuary can use any areas except the Signature suites section. So yes, that's why all this panicking from certain folks is preemptive. There are a enough loungers/daybeds in the entire area that can accommodate all suite guests. We all know that not every suite guest will use the space every day so finding a space there for a suite guest should not be a problem.
  24. You are conflating two things here. Buying a suite has never "ensured access" to a lounge chair on Princess outside of booking a suite that has a lounge chair on your balcony; that is a false statement. Purchasing entry to The Sanctuary (if you were able to make it there in time on embarkation day and not get beaten out by other cruisers) did guarantee a lounge chair but had nothing to do with being in a suite; it was open as an option to every cruise passenger. Sun Princess actually makes it almost guaranteed you will get one since the space is giving priority to suite guests and has enough seating space to accommodate every suite guest. That is not the case on any other Princess ship unless you are lucky enough to snag a Sanctuary spot that you have to pay for. Plus, on Sun Princess you get a pool, hot tubs and bar that are all exclusive to the area, so you are not competing for use of them with every other adult on the ship as on the other Princess ships.
  25. It's in the main Sun Princess thread, this is the staterooms thread.
