  1. Today I am going to go completely off topic. Why? Because today is a special Birthday and if it is your Happy Birthday. It is also the birthday of a well known song writer and musician. And not just a birthday but a milestone birthday. It seems like “Yesterday” when Sir Paul McCartney and the Beatles arrived in New York City for the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 at only 21 years young. McCartney wrote and performed so many wonderful songs with The Beatles and as a Solo Artist. He took us to Penny Lane, Back To The U.S.S.R, and on a Yellow Submarine. Through his music we felt as if we met Eleanor Rigby, Rocky Racoon, Blackbird, Michelle, Another Girl, Martha My Dear, Julian by the way of Hey Jude, and Lady Madonna. He taught me that Money Can’t Buy Me Love, there could be Eight Days A Week and we could Follow The Sun. Although some said he wrote some Silly Love Songs he taught us about Love; Love Me Do, P.S I Love You, All My Loving, And I Love Her. He wrote My Love for Linda McCartney and each of us who also is and has been in love appreciates that song. He took us from the Beatles to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Club Band, to Wings, and all of this on a Magical Mystery Tour. He taught me it would be OK With A Little Help From My Friends and when we suffered a loss of a family member or friends we would remember his tribute to John Lennon, Here Today. We never wanted the Beatles to stop playing and it surely has been a Long and Winding Road, He took us Here There and Everywhere until it was time for The End and he told us we just needed to Let It Be. It didn’t end when he broke away to be a solo artist and performed with two of the bands he created. One was Wings and it at times it felt as if they were a Band On The Run. In time of trouble, I looked in the mirror to see My Brave Face and when I met Anne Marie, who would become my wife, there would be No More Lonely Nights because it was now the Two Of Us. As a solo artist and member of The Beatles he took us to the movies and while all the songs were not written by him he played and sang in tune and not Out Of Tune. We saw Help, Hard Days Night, Yellow Submarine, Live & Let Die, Vanilla Sky just to name a few. He made albums performing all the instruments himself including various guitars drums and piano along with the songs he wrote and his vocals. This year one of the final songs he wrote as part of The Beatles which became the title for the movie about The Beatles allowed me to Get Back and as he sang for you to “Get Back To Where You Once Belong” All I can Say, Say, Say, is Maybe I’m Amazed at all Paul McCartney has accomplished and today on the day he turns 80 years young I can say and sing It’s Your Birthday. Happy Birthday Sir Paul. May you continue taking us with you and I’ll Follow The Sun and maybe we might even meet the Fool On The Hill. Keith
  2. Oh I so wish I could pick up some of the C wine. That would make my day. There are a few wines I have picked up that were on the inclusive menu and some I have ordered on wine.com and when I look at the labels or have some of it I am reminded of the fun times we have had with Crystal. I wonder by the time we get to California if there might still be some of this for us to buy and ship home. Keith
  3. Roy that is so good to know. I have so many fond memories of Roy Rogers. I pretty much know the menu by heart and remember what my go to order was at the time. Keith
  4. Brian, you can start your own Crystal venue. 😀 Great price and also wonderful sentimentality. Great catch by you. Keith
  5. We could go with Name The City and in my earlier Post Name The Artist. Keith
  6. It took a few visits to this city before we had the opportunity to enjoy this view which is why we always love to travel and to revisit cities and other places we have been as there is always something new to see and experience.
  7. Two days from now will be a major milestone for someone. Care to guess? I can help you if you need some help with this. Keith
  8. Yes. Near Ward Circle. used to walk from school up Nebraska to I think Van Ness. Right on Van Ness to Wisconsin to Roy Rogers. I think to the left on Wisconsin we walked to Arne Waffle Shop. One summer I worked at Wesley Drug store. I suspect it is gone. But Foxhall should be there. Keith.
  9. Travel is such fun. So much to do and see and lots of history for those interested learning. Keith
  10. KenzSailing interesting. My school used the Eagles as their mascot but we sued to play those Colonials. Keith
  11. Three polar bears and a memory I will remember for the rest of my life. Keith
  12. Hello It's Me. Do you know whose concert this is from. Attended the concert shortly after debarking Serenity. Keith
  13. I know at least one of these couples who seemed to be in love. Or maybe one was simply feeding the other one. I'll go for the love story though. Keith
  14. Our next cruise. We booked the owner's suite. And the price was right. Can't wait. Keith
  15. The airlines have been lobbying for this change for the past couple of months. Personally I like the requirement or a mask requirement but so it goes. I do understand though why some are happy it's gone for fear of having to spend seven to ten unplanned days in another country. Keith
  16. When we travel we see all sorts of things. The key is to smell the roses. In other words don't run from place to place. Instead take it all in.
  17. Good morning everyone. I just wanted to say a quick high. Have a great day.
  18. You didn't mention which ship you are on and that can be helpful. WIth that said there is risk doing this because of unknowns including delay at Port of Miami and a delay at passport control which does happen and then the unknown at the Miami airport. I would not do this. Keith
  19. There are many things that the next generation will not know that many of us experienced such as typewriters, rotary telephones, hardwired telephones wired into jacks, black and white TV for the majority of people, life before cell phones, eight track cassettes, movie rental stores, public payphones (I know some exist around the world but not many in the USA), VCR's, Or how about the Sears and JC Penney Catalogs or S&H and Green Stamps? LOL. Well, now we have lost what once had 1,000 restaurants back in the 1970's. Yes, Howard Johnson closed its last restaurant. I remember those car trips we took with our parents for summer vacation and after hours in the car looking for that Howard Johnson's for lunch and having a grilled cheese sandwich, or fried chicken or a hot door with yes French Fries. We though that was special because other than vacation dining out was rare other than maybe going for a pizza or if you were like us and had a Howard Johnson's near you having one of those dinner specials which was mainly fried food that was mostly bread. LOL. Those were the memories. And still missing Roy Roger's Restaurants which when we lived in WDC was a favorite of mine in college. Keith
  20. Adrian, It is always a treat for me to follow your live reports and very much appreciate you taking the time to post and share lots of thoughts and photos. Your experience is very similar to what friends of us have said about Azamara and I think you have nailed it. Best to you. Keith
  21. So on another thread we are talking about food; Tongue, and all sorts of things. This reminded me that growing up we would go to this deli where you could get knish and could take it out. This was not your normal Kinish. They were large. I would say a five inch by five inch square and an inch tall and golden color and delicious. They would come piping hot and they would give it to you in white wax paper in a paper bag. I can taste it now. I haven't found them since. OK three other food memories. Pretzels. At my high school we would sell soft pretzels as a fundraisers. One for fifteen cents and two for a quarter and they arrived hot and almost wet like. Lots of salt. I would go from selling them to basketball practice but sometimes I would buy one or two myself. I am not sure if the coach would have approved but I was one who the coach would encourage to get a little more meat on the body. LOL. When we would go to the shopping mall I have fond memories of the candy counter where they sold loose candy and all sorts of nuts. Cashews, or mixed nuts. Very salty and hot. They would put them in wax paper bags. Do you all remember the warm nuts. Is that an East Coast thing or even a New York thing or was that all over? Keith
  22. Ivi....I am just starting your thread and plan to read each any every post. Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Keith
  23. Thank you Ivi. I so hope we sail with you both again. I will check out your live thread in a moment. Keith
