Wow -- so glad he didn't get a lot of damage. I have a friend in Fort Myers who didn't evacuate against evacuation orders and everyone's advice and now her house is flooded and and she has to leave. She kept insisting she would be fine and she had a generator. That generator is now under water. Sandy was a devastating storm as well. A lot of property damage -- glad you made it okay.

6 deaths reported in Charlotte County and 1 in Osceola and another in Volusia so far. Cuba also had a few deaths. Ian is back on water again and has increased from Tropical Storm to a Hurricane again headed towards South Carolina.

This might have been me. I didn't loose any documents and no husband but when I disembarked a few cruises ago, I accidentally took someone else's luggage (looked like mine) and only discovered it after I had called Uber. I quickly cancelled Uber and asked the RCI agent outside the terminal if I could go back in and retrieve my luggage. The answer was a plain and simple NO. Okay then, I asked him if HE could do it and again the answer was a resounding NO. To make a long story short, I had to wait outside in the Miami heat until the last passenger disembarked and only then did Border Patrol / Customs allow the RCI agent in to get my luggage and return the luggage I accidentally took. This was 3 hours later. The takeaway I got from this experience is that going forward I always take my luggage with me when disembarking and never put it outside my cabin the night before!!!

You're right -- we have what they call REAL ID-compliant driver’s licenses not EDLs. Not sure what the difference is.

True, their ships -- their rules. I agree with you, a few drinks is not like giving away the farm. It would go a long way in customer satisfaction if they did like other cruise lines and awarded the status when you actually earn it. Having to wait for the next cruise is not what most cruisers want, but I can see their dollars and cents way of looking at it.

Wow that Ian towers over Charley and Irma put together. Poor folks in that area. I feel for them.

Not sure about now but when I was on Freedom and Jewel (smaller ships) right after the restart, reservations were available and it was recommended to make them. It doesn't hurt to make a phone call once onboard to see if the ship allows it and to make them.

Onboard either via app or phone. I believe on all class ships now.

Yes those are good points. The anticipation of the higher level makes for some crazy decisions. LOL 🙃

Besides the obvious, passport etc. bring more than one credit card. I've heard horror stories about the CC company freezing a card due to suspected fraud. You don't want to be left without a card. Also, if you purchased trip insurance bring a hard copy or have it electronically accessible.

Yes and as discussed before on another thread, why is it that on some cruise lines you get that new level automatically on the current cruise and not have to wait like RCI until the next cruise to benefit? Okay the answer is all cruise lines do things differently but I think RCI should revisit this policy.

I would love to do river cruises here in the US and in Europe. I'm glad Viking is now doing Mississippi cruises. While I was in Mackinac Island, Michigan this past Spring, I saw an American cruise line sailing the Great Lakes -- would love to do that one day.
