  1. Thanks Graham for thinking of Mum, she looked a bit frail when we went to see her Tuesday but when I phoned her yesterday she sounded quite perky!
  2. @SarahHben, glad to see you posting but sad you’re having a rough time. We went to Norway in 2013 in the last week in April going into May, there was snow on the high ground (Ok at ship level) We almost got snow blindness from looking out the Flam train! The famous waterfall was frozen 😱
  3. Yes we sat on the left hand side and I was very grumpy going back as lots of the people on the right just fell asleep on the way back down 😡
  4. Morning all, sunny this morning after a really nasty day yesterday, the wind was horrendous, it was bitter when I walked home from work. @Peanut006 so pleased your mum is much better, hope she continues to improve. In a moment of madness I agreed to cover the late shift tomorrow (1-6) instead of my normal 8-1. I shall enjoy a bit of a lie in but it mucks up visiting mum tomorrow so we’re going today. On Thursday it’s my normal late day but I work from home then, tomorrow I have to go in the office.
  5. l’ve used Premier Inn many times. I’ve had an issue last couple of times we’ve used them, the air conditioning has been so fierce it put me off! I was in one in Poole in 2022 in June shivering! It was really annoying me blowing over my face while I was trying to sleep.
  6. We saw Paul Stickler on Britannia in 2017 and he’s brilliant! What I want from a guest speaker. He also did the Port Hole murder. There was a second talk on the next sea day then we had a missed port (Guernsey!) and he did another talk on the extra sea day. I got the impression he would have done one every day if he could!
  7. Ooh lovely, I’ve been looking at York but it’s quite expensive. I’ve been to Castle Howard once but it was raining hard so we didn’t see much of the gardens so would happily go again.
  8. Thanks all, I know the Home did the right thing but I was a bit grumpy they didn’t send anyone with her. She was sitting there all alone in a hospital wheelchair. I hope I didn’t sound blasé but honestly she has done this sooooo many times! She’s tougher than she looks! One of my friends thinks she shouldn’t be falling if she is in a home, but she is very ‘naughty’ and won’t wait for anyone to help her! I’m proud she never fell once when staying with me because I followed her everywhere!
  9. Hello all, as you can see I’m catching up while not sleeping! Luckily it’s Saturday so I can go back to sleep hopefully or have an afternoon nap later! @Megabear2 what an horrendous experience you had! Appalling service as well trying to get the plumber. Everything seems to be a trial nowadays. @Peanut006 so pleased to hear your mum has turned a corner. I loved her saying she won’t go out every day on holiday as Wimbledon is on 😁 We had a bit of a drama Wednesday. I was at home in the afternoon after being in the office earlier and luckily John was home. I got a call from Mum’s home saying she’d had a fall and she seemed ok but had bumped her head so had called the paramedics to check her out. They, of course, decided to take her to hospital ‘ just in case’ which meant we had to rush to A&E because no one from the Home had gone with her . The traffic was horrendous as it was raining hard and was school picking up time! Anyway we were’only’ there for about 2 hrs and she was declared fit to go. Phew! If they’d decided to do a scan it would have been hours more so we got lucky there. I thought things were going to be easier with Mum in the home!
  10. Thanks for doing this Tiger B! I do enjoy your tales of you and your lass’s adventures. I look forward to reading more.
  11. Good, detailed review, thank you. Still not been on her!
  12. On the gravlax of salmon debate - I tried it on Ventura last year as I wondered what it was like (but didn’t want to risk paying for it on land!) I didn’t like it 😆
  13. My husband’s friend is going on his first cruise in May on Iona. He wants to know how you pay for the casino. I have no idea as we never use it. Does it just go on your cruise card or do people use cash? Thanks for any help.
  14. That must be such a worry for you Michelle. Sounds like this has knocked her confidence. I hope things settle down soon.
  15. Afternoon all. Was a lovely sunny day yesterday but lots and lots of rain today. Milder down South as there’s lots of daffodils out here including a few in my front garden. John and I went to Bluewater yesterday and had lunch out. The shopping centre was very busy when we left about 2pm. I hope Michelle’s mum is getting stronger xx
  16. Thanks again Selbourne, loved the excitement of the Panama Canal. I saw a time lapse video from someone on your cruise elsewhere and it looked amazing. Fascinating.
  17. I’ve cancelled a couple of excursions before, just sign in your cruise Personaliser and cancel them before you cancel the cruise if you have to. The refund is almost immediate. Good luck!
  18. @Peanut006 good new about your mum, hope she recovers well. Don’t forget to get her wound check booked up!
  19. I was really shocked to hear that, seems it was very sudden and he was no age really.
  20. Sorry to hear this, hope you can manage to get a much needed break.
  21. I’ve seen recent YouTube videos where 99% of toilets seem to take cards now in Norway (obviously this thread was started in 2019) However there was one trip someone went on where they only took cash! A boat trip I think it was.
  22. Sorry Presto but 🤢! I was given a white coffee at my mum’s Home the other day when I clearly asked for black! It went down the sink!
  23. Ugh, my poor mum would have been writing notes until I was 7 then 😆 My sister doesn’t like milk now because they would put the school milk near the radiators !
