  1. Thankyou again Selbourne for your reports. Loved the photo of your wife with the monkey. I don’t find most of the lunch menus that interesting. We tend to have a ham salad or similar in the buffet for lunch, suits us. Or the glasshouse on a sea day! Hope your poorly passenger will be ok and your sore throat gets better very soon.
  2. It wasn’t that soon after the war about 1970! 😏
  3. Had a good meal out last night with my lovely friends I met in the early 90’s while working Saturdays in Sainsbury’s when our children with small! Now 3 of us are 60 this year and all but one have grandchildren! We were the loudest group in the restaurant and the only ones there at 10.30pm! 🤭
  4. Sorry to hear this Michelle, hope it all goes well.
  5. Hmm perhaps I’ll have to get some probiotic tablets. I was born not liking milk - honestly! Milky things make me heave! My mum had to write me a note every year excusing me from the school milk …
  6. Very pleased to hear it! Don’t tell anyone Avril but I’ve never had an oatcake either 🤭
  7. Re your child, we went to some sort of flower/greenhouse at Honfleur that had loads of butterflies flying round, my son was about 16 at the time but he enjoyed watching them!
  8. Josy, after your post I decided to have a little look at my NHS app and would you believe I should have had a phone consultation yesterday at 2pm!! I knew nothing about this! I am having a blood test next week ready for my annual review. Now I’m waiting a call back from the surgery as I didn’t get the call anyway! Let’s hope someone phones before I start work at 1pm.
  9. That’s very disappointing, La Rochelle is gorgeous. If I were you I’d go to Honfleur, beautiful place, we stayed in a cottage near there a few years ago.
  10. You would think they’d marry up wouldn’t you? Unfortunately knowing what I know about NHS systems I’m not surprised. The biggest team where I work have now got a different computer system to us . This means if people select the wrong phone option (which happens loads) and get me I have to put them through to the other team who often have a long queue wait. If it was a simple question like can you check my appointment time I’d do it for them. Now I have to put them in another queue, how is that progress? Hope your husband is ok .
  11. Morning all, it’s very dark here with heavy rain. At least it’s not snow! Thanks for your kind words re my mum, of course life is never smooth as it looks like there might be a bit of a problem with the person who owns the freehold on my mum’s flat! This could hold up the sale 🙄 John is getting a bit stressed but I’m trying to leave it to my sister as she’s offered to deal with sale as she’s moved dozens of times! The last time we moved was 1996!!
  12. Oh no Selbourne I hope the sore throat isn’t getting worse again. Pleased you had a good sleep though, that always makes things feel better.
  13. Got an early dart today as mum had a speech and language lady visiting her. It was nice seeing her at lunchtime, different vibe, seemed more relaxed. She did very well and she was pleased with mum’s progress. Mum couldn’t wait to go back to the lounge so it seems she’s settling now. I spoke to two more carers today who said how lovely she is! That’s 4 or 5 different ones now. They were having a musical morning and apparently mum was shaking her maracas with gusto 😂
  14. Funny 2012 and Azura being mentioned - our first cruise was on Azura in 2012 and we had towel art every day I think, certainly most days. We also were onboard Azura on my husband’s birthday a few years later and he put his cards out on the desk. When we came back later a card had been left signed by Captain Camby.
  15. My goodness @Snow Hill what a shock, thankfully you went to A&E shame about the long wait! Rest up now and get better.
  16. If there’s nothing on I’ll often watch an episode on ‘Gold’ now! Of course Ian Lavender was on Eastenders for a while too, in the days when I used to watch.
  17. I know that’s the dilemma, isn’t it? Don’t worry I am a planner so as soon as I can see I can book I will book things!
  18. I agree about the Beach House. We loved it on Ventura and Azura when it was the free Italian! We couldn’t believe it was free and as the cruise went on and news got out there was a long queue every night! However the more American menu isn’t so much to my taste and leaves me bloated! I haven’t tried the spicy one but that wouldn’t be for me. This year I might try it again, we’ll see!
  19. Mrs Goggins, thanks for your reviews, I do like Ventura, hope the rest of your cruise goes well.
  20. It wasn’t a question, I just said I had considered trying fixed dining as we have had some problems with Freedom on the last cruises we’d done. We’d missed entertainment we’d wanted to do as we didn’t get into the dining room as soon as we wanted. I have no problem with getting a pager and waiting but some evenings we missed shows because of that. However, if we changed to fixed dining we wouldn’t be guaranteed a table for two which we like. We’ve paid for speciality dining so that we can get to the shows we want to see, which is our choice.
  21. Morning all, a rare lie in for me today, after briefly waking at 3am I woke at 7.37! Amazing, I feel all behind now! Luckily John is putting a mirror up for a work mate after work so he’ll be home a bit later so I’ll catch up on everything hopefully! It seems pressure has been put on my manager as I had a look at my work emails and she’s asking for any definite dates we want for holidays to be sent to her by the 16th Feb so at least I can move my cruise before final payment date now if I can’t get it, Phew!
  22. I was going to mention Ian Lavender too, sadly I’ve seen nothing on the news about it as it was all about the King.
