No "free" lobster night sailing on a 6-night cruise?
Tatka replied to NC State's topic in Royal Caribbean International
$1.99 seems really low ... We live in New England and I do not remember such prices. Fresh? Not frozen? -

What are drink vouchers? We never sailed RC
Tatka replied to barric's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you do not you lose them, but you do have some time after midnight. They "die" at 5 AM next day and next 4 vouchers start. -
I was never loyal to Royal, so I watched 8 lines for several decades to realize nothing is perfect. Even though we sail almost exclusively with RCI now due to many advantages. (variety of ships and itineraries they do not far from us) , they all have cuts. Many have similar cuts. Not because they suddenly became greedy.

Honestly after cruising from restart after pandemic and knowing what is going on in the world I’m honestly amazed RCI survived and provides experience it does. If you love cruising you would too. Cuts are minor in comparison. If they diminish your experience that much imagine you have no cruising at all. RCCL lost about $21 billions. They continued losing money up to the fourth quarter of 2022. Changes are not done to make you unhappy. Somehow people notice inflation and other issues on land, but cruise lines in their mind exist in different universe and must adjust so you won’t notice. I prefer to have cruses with minor cuts, but multiple and affordable. By the way while cruising was not available we (being hungry for real vacations, not camping or Myrtle beach) had several vacations in all inclusive resorts. Nice ones. If you think there are no changes there … you would be in for surprise.

I don’t know … things change. Everything cannot stay the same as it was 20-30-40 years ago. Some things went away, but some arrived. I love nostalgia … but cruising is much more available now than it was in 80-es. Ships offer much more. Much more than is lost. Remember … that even though much more was included, but much more exists on ships and is still available. Additional dining? You aren’t required to use it, but your vacation is cheaper if cruise lines get additional profit from it. I’m not bothered at all by the fact that other people use it. It’s their priorities. Chocolate on pillow … nice touch, but in some reason I don’t miss it one but. So much food is available on every ship. I think HAL still does it, but I won’t switch because of that. Tons of free things and activities are on ships. Just because lines introduce something per fee is ok in my book. I’d rather sail 5 times a year without mortgaging my house than have everything included for high price. I’d pick what I need from everything offered

Drink question for Diamond member
Tatka replied to Sun Lover's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Drinks under $14 (now 15?) are included. Others I think you can pay a difference. -
We collect them in our albums among other "artifacts". It is about a year and a half we got D+. Pin was placed in our room, previous pins were also always placed.

I am not sure kids situation can be compared to cruiselines... even more particular cruiseline. If I suspected that business was lying to me as in some accusations I would just drop this business all together and use another. I am not married to business... and especially it is not my child. With kids who I cannot just drop I would try to change things.

I am a Cruise Groupie. 🙂 I live here on and off for 20 years!!!

Well.. Infinite veranda is controversial. Some like it, some don't As for your second concern .. which ships deck are you looking at. It is the same issue for some decks on RCI. Especially on Quantum class.

Royal Caribbean, A Lie is a Lie
Tatka replied to SailorMarg's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There is a difference between not 100% satisfaction and accusation in lies. OP did not say he/she was upset over H&H. Statement was about shiny Lie! -

What is a purpose to mislead you? To make you angry so you won't book with them? Are you familiar with Probability Theory. If yes please try to apply it in this situation. -

I would say with teens especially. For younger kids Celebrity is good, for Teens there is no comparison... at least it was like that 10 years ago.

This is the same corporation and they have reciprocity in statuses (not all the way, but for Select/Platinum and Elite/Diamonds), also Celebrity often offers all inclusive packages which include internet/drinks/tips. Fares are higher, but with this inclusion you get the best of both worlds. Oh, we are now loyal to Royal (sailed with 8 lines), but for Celebrity I would cheat. Missing my Princess somewhat.

" A Crown & Anchor Society member can be added into a relationship with other family members in the same household and receive equivalent tier status; however Cruise Points will remain according to actual cruises taken and calculated using the Program level accrual system described above. Pinnacle Club member tier status will not be awarded to dependents if earned by their parent and/or guardian. Pinnacle Club member tier status can only be earned by an individual, spouse or significant other by one of them accumulating 700 Cruise Points or more in the CAS program. For all tiers except Pinnacle Club, a relationship is defined as a spouse or significant other and children less than 18 years old. For Pinnacle Club a relationship is considered a spouse and/or significant other. Children will be taken out of a relationship with a parent or guardian upon their 18th birthday date. If it is found that a dependent or child is not immediately removed from a relationship upon their 18th birthday and accumulates a higher tier status outside of this time period, the dependents record will be adjusted back to the appropriate tier status."

In some reason Celebrity has 3 channels with music for Silent Disco. 😀 Blue, Green and Red.

I completely agree with every word about Edge class. Edge, Beyond, Apex... Ascent(?) Ships are amazing!!! The only controversial point is Indefinite Verandas.. which I like, but I only visited such room, never sailed in one.

"Saturday Night Fever" on Liberty Question
Tatka replied to broadwaybaby123's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I watched whole movie when we got back home. Scene is there, but it is not as intense as in the movie. I actually did not understand it completely from ship's show.
