  1. Yes its the central stations or Københavns Hovedbanegård (København H)

You just continue straight ahead when you exit the baggage claim area and go to track 2.

When at track 2 you get on any train from there (all stops at the central station), the train will most likely stop at Tårnby and Ørestad before it stops at the central station.

From the central station you just use the entrance on the left side of the main hall (opposite the Tivoli entrance)

Yes the easiest way to the cruise terminal is by taxi but also more expensive.

But if you take any train for Østerport and then change to bus 25 or 27 you can then go for only 24 kroner per person.

    Thank you!

  2. Thank you :)

I used Danish Krone in Copenhagen and Swedish Kroner in Stockholm, although both countries take credit cards for virtually everything, so it was mainly tips for the guides. In all the other ports, including St Petersburg, I used Euros or credit cards. I had to pay Alla Tours in St Petersburg for all the tours and they charged in Roubles, because of a new regulation, but took it by card so that was fine - the tip could be in Euros or dollars.

Basically, if you have a credit card with a pin number, you can do without cash for everything but tips in every port.

Did you notice if they took American Express? We try to use it for everything cause it's our air points..but we have a visa too if we need to use it. Thank you!

  3. Hello Danish Viking! Thank you for being our contact and help...I'd like to know the detail of landing at the Copenhagen airport and taking a train to what I think is the central station. Our hotel is the hotel Nebo, which is very close to it..at least on a map..and then, the best way to get to the port, which right now, I'm thinking is a cab..thanks in advance!

  4. I have no idea what to expect on my 9 day cruise in August. I'm going on the Norwegian getaway and seeing the tour excursion prices is shocking. A simple walking tour is $100.00! Any insight would be great as to seeing things on your own at the ports. Do they check your bag or luggage for alcohol? Can you sneak anything on the ship instead of having a huge bar bill? I read a private tour company in Russia is better... Please any advice, would be very appreciated.

We are also going in August, have you joined your roll call? That will give you an idea of what your shipmates are doing for tours. We are going August 23 on the Getaway, spending 3 days in Copenhagen prior to leaving. We are using Rick Steeves Copenhagen book and the HOHO system to tour there.

We decided to use TJ Tours for all of our port excursions. I know that we could have done Tallinn and Stockholm on our own, but decided the convenience of using one tour company for all the ports was how we wanted to do it...we are also going to Berlin with them despite the long ride there and back, since I have no idea if I will ever be back to the Baltics again.

I agree that the NCL tours are crazy expensive, but I think if you start pricing tours with other companies you will find a huge difference.

Question: was the beverage package not one of the options when you booked your cruise? I can't even imagine what our bar bill would be for 10 days!:o

  5. We loved our trip on the Epic! We got to Barcelona 2 days early..what a great city to wander..the public transportation can get you anywhere you want to go! Our flight landed at 9 am also..we took the airport bus to downtown and walked to our hotel..that woke us up! After dropping our luggage we just walked around ..found a cafe and had a snack..then walked around and tried some different sangria's at different places..at around 3 pm we went back and took a nap..then at around 6 ish went back out again for dinner..I think we went to sleep about 9:30.. I don't really remember feeling bad the next day..so I guess our jet lag wasn't very bad. Hope you have a great trip..

  6. We loved our forward facing suite on deck 10 on the dawn..enjoyed it a lot while cruising down the Mississippi River out of New Orleans...at sea was iffy...but we are usually doing other stuff then anyway..really enjoyed an early breakfast served in our room with the door open and the beautiful scenery!

  7. In reading through these boards, I see that a chip and pin card is usually needed in Europe. Does anyone know if they usually take American Express? That is the credit card we use while traveling since it has no fees and is a airmiles card too.

My other question is I am watching flights to Copenhagen for August 19, they were about $100 cheaper about a month ago...do the prices continue to climb this far out? I know there is no crystal ball, but I'm not used to booking international flights so not sure if the sweet spot to book has passed?

    Thank you!

  8. We had ours in the Manhatten room on the Escape..great venue for dinner and live music..get up and dance too if you feel like it..they brought a cake to the table and sang..we were full so the maitre d had it delivered to our room..

  9. i did this on the Star last May.

we saw a few items here and htere at the buffet. i dont remember anything else being region specific.

that said, we got some AWESOME food in port, particularly thru our independent excurions.

i highly recommend TJ Travel for St. Petersburg - but they will do tours for you in any of the Baltic ports.

Good to know! We are booked with TJ travel!

  10. Menus are standard across the fleet. Sample "real" local foods while you are ashore.

That's not our experience..while on the Epic in the med, the chef had a local specialty on the menu each night..also, in Alaska on a cruise, there were options of local fresh caught salmon..etc..

  11. Hi, we are sailing in August on the NCL Getaway to the Baltics and I was wondering if there were regional foods served in the main dining rooms? It would be great if some choices were given to try some new dishes! Asked this on the port of call board too...
