  1. We did just what Port Royal said. Our port time was 9:00-7:00 so plenty of buffer time. We got on the 10:00 ferry, stayed on the beach for a couple Hours and got on the 2:00 or 3:00 ferry heading back. Plenty of cushion as far as time goes.
  2. We just did this last week. Like others said we took taxi to Red Hook, bought ferry tickets online. Then taxi to Trunk Bay. Plenty of taxis waiting at Trunk Bay. It was a bit of a hassle and not cheap but pretty flexible with timing.
  3. We just went to GSC today on the Encore. it was pretty calm.
  4. I am on now. We have to get tender tickets through box office or the touchscreens.
  5. So it looks Ike you transport and set it up yourself then?
  6. Hi. The St. John website lists that there are chair and snorkel rentals but does not mention umbrellas. Has anyone been there recently and are there umbrella rentals? Also is this site legit for rentals? https://www.sandyspot.com/sandyspot-faq-help thanks
  7. Hi. We leave this weekend and trying to decide which beach to go to For a short port time. Does smugglers and Long Bay beef island have umbrella rentals? this is a must for My mom.
  8. What is the nonsense? Personally, I like both celebrity and NCL. I thought food was a bit better quality on Celebrity a few years ago when I sailed with them. The Edge was a beautiful ship and calm. The casino gave us a killer deal which was better than NCL deals. We are booked on NCL for January and hope to sail Celebrity again soon.
  9. If you have cruised with them call CAS and book direct. We typically only Have to pay the admin fees and taxes, the drink gratuities if we take it. The next cruise I have booked we did end up paying $1600 for 3 of us because it was a high demand time.
  10. I would say from what I saw Venice is not a handicap friendly city. You need to go up Bridges and stairs to get around everywhere over the canals. There may be ways or ramps around but I don’t remember that.
  11. Yes like Brian said train from Santa Lucia station is the easiest way, no need to go back to the airport. We took the 10:00am train the morning of the cruise and it was quick and easy.
  12. I will be in Tortola from 6:00-2:00pm. Some of us would like to snorkel but mom needs a chair, shade, and bathrooms. There is a snorkel trip to Normans island, does anyone know how good snorkeling is? I have enjoyed snorkeling best at grand cayman and st.thomas/st.john. Another option is Brewers bay, how is snorkeling there?
  13. I have been following you for a long time (that sounds creepy 😁). We are also in port 6:00-2:00 and want to snorkel. Thinking of a cab to Brewers or break down and take the NCL Normans snorkel excursion. I don’t like the ship excursions but port time is so short!
  14. All it says is private ferrry, Safari like vehicle through the park. Maybe they consider that part like a tour: In any case it seems awfully expensive.
  15. We will be coming in on NCl and see 2 excursions from NCL: “Beach day” and “on your own”. They both get you on a private ferry to Cruz bay. The beach day excursion puts you on a Safari type vehicle to Trunk Bay. It’s a lot more money. I’m thinking we could do the on your own excursion and just get a taxi to trunk bay. Should be way less. Anyone have experience with these options?
  16. Like others said, I liked carnivals extra free places to eat like Guys burgers and Blue Iguana. The pizza and desserts on Carnival are also better. But buffet is much better on NCL and the main dining room food. Entertainment shows are better on NCL but pool area is fun on both. Long lines on carnival like buffet, getting a sandwich made or Mongolian wok. Free at sea is a great deal on NCL, $300 for 2 people on a 7 night cruise.
  17. Hi all. Has anyone grabbed an Uber from the Taino Bay cruiseport? Seems to be WAY less then the posted taxi rate to the waterfalls. I'm wondering where to pick up the Uber, would we have to walk out of the cruise port area or go to the taxi area? Thanks
  18. I was wondering the same thing but was thinking of a taxi. My company has a site in the DR (not near these waterfalls). It’s the only place we are not allowed to rent a car and drive. We must get around via our local coworkers.
  19. So for calm water, wide sandy beach I would say Magen. For snorkeling either of the other 2. For folks Like your family Magen’s.
  20. We found the snorkeling off the beach at Coki to be good. Lots of weed selling going on (mostly in the back area) and you may smell it in case that bothers you.
  21. There are plenty of modest people wearing the same thing you do. No worries!
  22. We also have sailed NCL several times and recently put in for a virgin cruise with the casino. We are waiting to hear back. What did you miss about NCL?
  23. Here my 2 cents. I think Carnival has better desserts and pizza. And I like Guys Burgers and the taco stand. The food in MDR on NCL is better, I like all the fish choices. The buffet is much better on NCL. The entertainment is better on NCL, if you can see Burn the Floor that is my fave. I found lots of lines on carnival, for the buffet, dining room, buffet stations. I never did get my Mongolian wok.
  24. Thanks! One more question, for a third person do they have pull down beds or sofa?
