  1. 🐇🐇, and good morning, Dailyites. I'm thinking of you all today - Jacqui, Annie and Chuck, Terry and Tana, Vanessa (yay!), Gerry's DH, Bruno, everyone having a troubled time. We have been to Juneau many times, usually on cruises, but once flown in by DD when she was flying out of Haines. Actually, DD arrives from Gander tomorrow for a two-week visit, so you won't be hearing much from me, today we are changing Pat's office into the guest room for the summer. May, June and July are booked up... Pat's desk will be in our bedroom so he can work. The last time we were in Juneau, in 2022, I took no pictures, I had Covid, but in 2019 we took the tramway up Mt. Roberts to measure our wingspan in comparison with an eagle...
  2. I seem to remember someone on our recent TA on Nieuw Statendam went to the Front Desk to get a seasick pill and was charged.
  3. Good morning, Dailyites, I had difficulty with CC yesterday, too, so far today it seems okay. Just a few days ago, we were flying over Greenland on Iceland Air, there were some amazing views. I don't know if my pictures are of the correct area, but I was interested to see the markings in the glaciers so plainly from so high up. In the second picture, it is not obvious, but I could see open water glistening along the right edge of the waterway. Maureen, @RMLincoln, so sorry about your DSIL, consider yourself hugged today, too! I need to go to the grocery store today. Not looking forward to it, but it must be done! I will see what they have in the way of seedlings, too. I need some lettuce babies.
  4. On our TA on the NS, I can't remember if there were crackers or not, I didn't have the cheese plate, but Martha did a couple of times. I do remember there were fresh Wasa crackers out in the Lido. Maybe have a look there on Volendam and if there are any, smuggle a few into a plastic bag for emergencies! Jacqui, I'm enjoying your thread, thank you for posting. @1of4, I found that my stick would slip to the very back of the overhead bin if I didn't hide it, then it becomes very difficult to retrieve. I try to slip it down on the floor out of sight now, and have managed to get away with it usually. Either that, or I hang onto it until the very last minute and try to stash it at the very front of the bin.
  5. Well, then, it might have been the opposite and we had bits of paper and they didn't work, new ones were printed out for us. (Senior moment?)
  6. I only asked because the picture @julia posted was of dimenhydrinate. It confused me, so I looked at my Dramamine pills and that is also what it said there..
  7. It works fine, just look for the Priority signs. The Priority waiting room upstairs will be SRO, and will have an orderly embarkation with handicap first, through a separate gangway, shorter than the regular one. The regular one moves quickly, too, as long as you have your correct bar code - I think it had to be on a piece of paper, not a device.
  8. We also had a few accounting discrepancies on the NS - finally sorted before we disembarked. My DH intends to mention this in the survey. I miss the Night Auditor!🙄
  9. Looks like you are having a great time, @VMax1700, Colin! Great information - but our laundry usually took at least 2 days, so maybe they are speeding things up. We enjoyed seeing you and Ellen in Cobh - just wish you could have hopped on board then! Just an FYI - we had a few difficulties with our account on the NS - so keep a track of what is going on, even after we got back the charge was wrong, all sorted now. While we were on board I spent a fair amount of time at the Front Desk...
  10. Good morning Dailyites! Happy birthday to @ger_77 's HB (honey bunny)! I'm hoping for a new valve for him too. And great news from Vanessa, I hope things continue to get better and better. Next we concentrate our prayers on Tana and Terry. I lost a day this week, we got back Sunday night, Monday was fine, did lots of laundry, Tuesday morning I woke up at 2 a.m. feeling hot, took my temperature, it was 101, and I kept getting hotter and hotter, bad headache, and I slept most of the day, then woke up at 2 a.m. Wednesday and I was cool and it was over... talk about a 24-hour bug! Yesterday I was tired and cranky, but I'm fine today, like it never happened. I've never done that before. We've been to Santorini a few times, visited Akrotiri, Thira, Oia and other villages, and my pictures are like the ones already posted, so I'll show you (again?) my favourite penguin picture from Half Moon Island. This is a chinstrap penguin who had had a struggle to climb the hill - you can see his footsteps and wing marks in the snow - and is sitting there saying "I'm the king of the castle!" DD took the picture, as I had broken my wrist a few days before and fell in a drift trying to climb up, so I had gone back down the hill and had a little Zodiac ride around the island instead. Weather report from Victoria - it's rainy today, which we already need as the reservoir had gone down to 99%, foretelling bad things for the summer.

  12. Strangely enough, I can't get your link above to work - and I used to find it on the HAL site at the bottom of the home page under "Cruise Deals", but it is no longer there. I wonder what's going on...
  13. I believe you have to confirm your continuing membership of the AARP each time you book or request the OBC. How do they know you are still a member a year from now?
  14. Good morning, Dailyites! We returned home last night after a very long day of flying from Amsterdam to Victoria. I think we were up over 24 hours. Everything went smoothly, and our bags arrived home with us. They are, as yet, still unopened... Wishing @JazzyV a very successful surgery and no more pain after! In 2016 we visited Mykonos for the third or fourth time, but this time with our DD, Cathy, and we also met Tony, @sailingdutchy, for the first time. We had dinner with him and Martha the night before the cruise in Athens, and he had organized some interesting tours for the Prinsendam cruise. We loved sailing with Cathy, and we sent her to Delos the morning of the day in Mykonos that time and then we met her at the dock and wandered around, it's another one of those pretty blue and white Greek towns. We had an amazing lunch on the waterfront, so good I forgot to take pictures, of course. Lunch break Local guard cat
  15. Hello, Dailyites!(I have no idea what time it is, anywhere…). Lots of news today, I’m so sorry, Bruno, about your Dear Dad, you did so much for him these last years, it will be a big empty hole in your life for a while, but I hope your wonderful memories of the time with him help. Lambie, nice to see you here, I’m sorry your sister is having a difficult time with cancer, and Terri and Melanie on the loss of your friends. A friend in Victoria, Ruth, just lost her DH a few days ago, the day before her 90th birthday . A hard time for her. Jacqui, I hope the foot nurse has solved your problem and you can travel pain free. We are thinking of you. Terry, I think of Tana so often, and all you do for her and the teenager. You are wonderful, I think we all agree! Here on the NS, we are having a quiet and very restful time. DD has emailed that she thinks we should stay away longer, so she must be managing okay with her broken shoulder! We had the Mariner Recognition Event today, and our friend Jane said it was the best meal we’ve had so far on the cruise. I will try to post the menu and some pictures, if I can. Tonight we will definitely want to eat light!
  16. Like Overhead Fred, I went to “All That” last night on the NS. It was okay, I wasn’t overly impressed. Lots of costume changes, a few songs I recognized, seemed to me just a new iteration of the One Step group. The dancers were 4 women, one man, which seemed a bit lopsided. The singers (2men, one woman) were okay. Canned music…
  17. Good afternoon, Dailyites, from the cold and windy mid-Atlantic! We are leading a fairly quiet life here on board the Nieuw Statendam, mainly reading, chatting, eating and sleeping. My one main observation has been that they are using tiny scoops in the Lido to serve the ice cream. They must be an inch and a quarter in diameter, so I’m going to have to ask for two! Jacqui, I noticed the Fleet Report says we are heading for Brest, actually we are en route to Cobh, Ireland. Brest was taken off the itinerary some time ago. We’re looking forward to seeing @VMax1700 and Mrs. VMax on the 17th. we have been invited to the Mariner Recognition Event tomorrow, to be followed by a Luncheon. I will take pictures. I haven’t done much of that so far.
  18. Off to an early dinner now in the hopes we’ll be able to watch the SpaceX launch later. Thanks all!
  19. Six of us are on our tiny balcony just forward of midships on deck 6. We have Canadian flags.
  20. I only bought Surf internet. It seems to be that I cannot see what’s on the webcam. go a picture of Rotterdam.
