  1. As Gary just said...we will be official Guinea Pigs for first roll out of new menu here on Jewel. Was surprised at the Chef's announcement, and looking forward to when the app updates to see the new items. First leg last week was old menu...this will be nice for a change in food offerings for second leg! 🙂
  2. Was much better than Serenade a couple of weeks ago. Back to Surf and Turf, which we like, and two other items that I can't remember right now...6 am brain. 😉 Though unlike Wonder and Harmony...the "surf" is shrimp not lobster. My steak was fantastic...big thick Chop's steak perfectly prepared. Clam chowder and salad were appetizers.
  3. At the Pinnacle lunch just now on Jewel...the head chef announced that the new menus start for us next week. Will be an interesting six night cruise. 😉 Happy we don't have any specialty restaurants booked...want to check it out.
  4. Well at least when we age...we still have alcohol. 😄 🍹
  5. Getting mine in a couple of weeks. One of the rare times it won't be a duplicate! 🙂
  6. I think the OBC went away some months ago. It was really not an option before Covid, but there was a short time that they awarded OBC (only) as a refund after final payment during price drops after restart. Am currently wearing a beautiful watch from one rather large OBC we were able to score. Sigh...those days are gone now.
  7. Exactly what we do. I can't just suddenly become a slob while on vacation. 😉
  8. That was the Halibut I caught while in Homer Alaska two years ago. 😉 I don't think we will see Halibut on the new menu. 😄
  9. That is terrible. True service dogs don't wander the dining room...they have to stay next to their person to be of service. Shame on these pax that take advantage of the system with their pets...which is a slap in the face to those that really have service dogs and a true reason to need them. Shameful. 😠 I really wish RCI would require a proof of certificate for those dogs. Once again, thanks for your review...and great info about the school schedule. Wow...that is a long school break!
  10. You have just met one that refuses to eat fishy fish...no matter how pricey or "special" it is. Now...indeed I have my favorites. Redfish: Mmmm...blackened with Paul's seasoning in a cast iron pan. Trout: Seared with almonds and butter. Grouper...in any form of cooking. Halibut...on the grill with my homemade marinade prepared by my favorite grill chef.
  11. Totally agree. We don't cruise to eat. If I want superior food only...I will stay home. 😉 Or cruise on one of the $$ small elegant ships that cater to foodies. We cruise to adventure...but needing sustenance to survive...naturally we need to eat. Never have had a problem going hungry, and also am fully aware that it is "mass feeding" venues, no matter what is on the menu.
  12. That is the one thing I miss on Radiance class ships....the promenade.
  13. I have never seen anything other than two single beds that had the option of "both together" to made into a king size....in any cabin. Though there could be queens in single cabins...no sure. And of course bunk bed set ups.
  14. Told by whom? Definitely not our attendants. They are tired of the spilled food, drinks, etc. in the hallways to have to clean up. Not to mention trying to get carts around those. We have been thanked more than once at rinsing and stacking our dishes in our cabin for takeaway...which naturally can be done twice a day. And also (when convenient), we take back up to the WJ to one of the cleaning stations. If I am able to take them down (or up) to the cabin...I can take them back.
  15. Simple protein I guess. I love fish...but no matter what kind of so called high class quality or delicacy it is .....if it is fishy tasting...ugh...nasty (and would be what I would call trash fish). Spent most of my life during my free time and on vacation in the past, (before cruising took that over) doing my favorite sport...fishing. Even did my own cast netting for bait. 😉 That was some fresh fish for dinner that night! And we never kept anything over what we would eat that night.
  16. Walmart sells filets of Swai in large bulk. It's a mild white fish. Actually quite easy to use in various recipes, and never fishy. No real flavor itself, but does take on the flavors of what you add to it.
  17. I have had "other" things chunked over the balconies above us...was not pretty.
  18. We never put plates of half eaten food in the hallway. If we don't have the opportunity to take plates or cups back to the WJ, ...we simply leave them in the cabin for the attendant to remove, dumping the liquids from the cups down the sink. Not piled up as garbage dumps in the heavily used carpeted hallway.
  19. The passengers are there on Freewinds...but have never..ever..once seen the small ship leave Aruba port. Plus you don't see a lot of anyone going on or off the ship. Notice the heavily loaded three large dumpsters next to the ship as well. 😵 NCL Epic is next to us right now in Cuacao....indeed very busy in town. Huge (and IMHO...not very pretty ship).
  20. I always look at it like you do for a picnic at the beach, a park, etc. "Pack it in....pack it out". If you can bring it into the cabin, you can bring the plates back out to return to from where you found them. Beats having dirty dishes in the cabin, and most definitely less gross and more sanitary than leaving your garbage in the hallway for someone else to clean up. 😛
  21. I keep a little carton of milk in the "almost cool fridge" in case the milk vat is empty at the coffee machine for my Latte. The boiled eggs.....midnight snack works well to keep stomach acid at bay since we eat so early. But no crumbs, leftovers, odors, wrapper, plates, cutlery, or cups are included. 😉
  22. Same thing on the Pinnacle event in Music Hall on Odyssey. Attendant stood behind the rope and gave you a plate of whatever you pointed at. We thought it was a well run operation. 😉
