  1. Well I have been wanting to sail on Cunard for ages now and saw a good deal for 2019 cruises. I have just this moment booked for May to the Fjords on Queen Victoria.

Dusting off my long evening gowns and gloves already :)

No doubt I will have many questions so bear with me

  2. Yes the Spanish army is planning to invade ...now what ..

I dont want to be there if thats whats happening

I hope we skip Barcelona ..no need to go where trouble is brewing ..we are there Nov 8 ...too close for comfort

Hey NCL time to move ports ..how about Gibralter , Tenerife, Palma ...get awAy from Barcelona

    Michele

Absolutely NO indication of the Army invading Catalonia.

Some times for information it is better to check the British or European press

  3. Hi There

Was in St Petersburg earlier this year.

In my opinion it is well worth doing a tour be it with one of the private companies such as Alla or SPB tours or a ship tour. I am normally a do it myself person but to do all the sites and get an insight into the history etc you really need to do a Tour they are expensive but for me really good value for money.

Whatever type you choose the Visa through the tour only covers you when you are ON the tour so unless you book an evening tour you will not be able to go into town in the evening.

I would also factor in that the main port is quite far out of the city centre.

    Hope that helps a bit

  4. Given your likes I would suggest Dunrobin as well. Hire a car/book a private tour from Invergordon and head North to Golspie you could also visit Dornoch on the return if you have time. Dornoch is a nice wee village were you can buy some nice souvenirs.

Then you can explore the rest of Edinburgh on your stop.

  5. Hi Kent, it is Kent I think.

I was on this cruise as well so will chime in with a few of my thoughts.

I did not participate in the Slot Pull but loads of folks said it was really good.

I enjoyed all the ports. Did not go into Berlin as I can fly quicker ;)

Customs at St. Petersburg I think were more efficient than the first cruise, No time at all to get through but it took 40 mins to get back ON the first day - maybe we were just unlucky.

The Moijto Bar was my favourite, loved Burn the Floor, Shanghi Noodle Bar was fabulous.

I really enjoy the second sea day but then I am more a curl up with a book kind of lass than doing activities and being from Scotland I did not find it too cold :) :) and I had the Spa pass which for this cruise I thought was really good.

The service in the bars was excellent and loads of options on the UBP. I enjoy Andre

For some reason service in Taste was much slower than in Savor.

I enjoyed Andre's Harry Potter quiz and the Mystery escape room but otherwise was just happy to relax.

    The bad points!!

The Garden Cafe was Carnage, Absolute Carnage, did I say Carnage!!!

Gothenburg, was a very very poor choice by NCL Corporate. Arrived pm which was not ideal and our tour (the only one through NCL) was therefore caught in rush hour traffic. Very poor choice in MHO.

The noise level on the pool deck for sailaway in Copenhagen and several other occasions was excruciating.

Apart from that (and some very very obnoxious folks ( but hey that's not NCLs fault) no one on the role call I hasten to add)

I really really enjoyed the cruise.

    Jackie

  6. Hi Danish Viking,

Just returned from Copenhagen all you advice was very useful and I had a wonderful time visiting.

I would also like to say that at both the Airport and Central train station they had helpful guides from Visit Copenhagen ( I think!) helping people getting tickets etc.

If you can manage your own luggage public transport in Copenhagen is quick, efficient and well priced.

  7. The busses just run after the Sunday schedule.

In the timetables on the first page you just look under Søn og Helligdage that means Sun and hollydays.

The streetparties during Distortion is Wednesday and Thursday so the traffic should not be affected.

Normally the last day is a chill out day with events in the parks and so on.

    Thank you Danish Viking,

Just as a matter of interest how much would a taxi be from the Babette Guldsmeden to the cruise teminal.

    Thanks

  8. Hi Danish Viking,

Firstly thank you for all the wonderful info.

I will be boarding NCL Getaway on 25th May which I understand may? Be a public holiday. Will I still be able to get the bus to port. I am staying at the Babette Guldsneden. If not how much would a taxi ( if possible) be to the port.

Also my flight home is on Sunday 4the June which I understand is the end of the Distortion Festival. Would it be wise to allow extra time to get to the Airport?

    Many thanks

    Jackie

  9. I wanted a single outside cabin with a picture window rather than a porthole for my cruise on the Discovery next year.

Went to the Thomsons shop nearby and well never had such a palaver

Anyway after a considerable amount of time they eventually assigned me cabin 3014 and assured me this does have a picture window.

However looking at the deck plans when I got home, it is the furthest forward of the single outsides which now leaves me wondering if it really does have a picture window.

If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated.

If not looks like a trek back to the shop on Monday :(

    Thanks

  10. Thanks for all the Info.

I have cruised with Fred before and I like the set dining as I have always been at a table with great folks.

But I have also cruised with NCL and they were excellent at arranging dinner for the Solos.

Just thought I would check the situation with Thomson.

My mate wants to try Fred so we might go together if not I think I will give Thomson a try.

Newish ship, Newcastle and AI what's not to like :)

  11. With the news of Thomson moving one of thier new ships to Newcastle for 2018 I am thinking of trying them.

Will be saling solo so have a couple of questions.

I know it is freestyle dining but can you share a table?

And does anyone know when the Itinerarys are released?

    Thanks

  12. You are going to LOVE it! Last year, I got an upsell to a Haven Spa Suite...although the Haven is amazing, I can't see paying full value for it right now. So they may not have sold us on the Haven, but they without a doubt sold us on the Spa. I don't think I can ever sail without it. As other posters mentioned, it adds such a different dynamic to your vacation. It's unbelievable!

Sailing the Haven would be Interesting but being a single cruiser it's never going to happen:rolleyes: but the Spa is an option so went for that rather than wait for a "possible" upgrade bid offer ;)
