The DW and I cruised a roundtrip from Seattle on the Norwegian Star in 2009. I recently found these photos, we had misplaced them, and figured I would share them for the benefit of those on the board wanting info about certain Ports.

Let me start with Skagway!

We did the Best of Skagway Tour. This tour left from near the ship.

Great views could be had as we climbed White Pass riding on the Motorcoach.

We then boarded the train in Fraser, British Columbia

After riding the train, we were taken out to Liarsville. We had a Salmon bake lunch.

Afte lunch, we explored the replica camp of Liarsville

Finally, we were taught how one would pan for Gold. Here is my DW panning for the smallpeice of Gold they put in the bottom of each pan.

From the Capitol Building, we headed towards the Governor's Mansion. Governor Palin was the sitting Governor at the time, but she was up in Wasilla at the time of our visit.

I would suggest some selective editing before posting more photos. Less is better than more.

If you don't want to see the photos I would suggest you move along to another thread. I am always happy to see photos of beautiful Alaska and wish to thank the original poster for their contribution.

Thank you for your constructive criticism. I have been limiting they pictures I have been selecting. In fact, the pictures I posted, especially of Skagway, totaled less than 10% of the number of pictures I have. Which is why I held off on Ketchikan, so I can illustrate it the best and most streamlined way possible.

At the same time, for those coming to this board looking for information, I hope my thread provides something of value. I will be happy if people enjoy the photography and learn something about these wonderful ports.

Suggest that you skip this thread if you need to insult the OP.

Thanks OP, please keep posting and don't try to limit you numbers just because someone doesn't want to see photos.

More, more! Most of us can never get enough of Alaska.

Thank you, OP.

Hi my fellow Sun loving Cruise Critic member. Looking at your future cruises I'm surprised you didn't jump on the Sun 14 day Ultimate Alaska San Francisco to Vancouver BC cruise next May. It is really a special itinerary and we have one of the two forward facing balconies. Prices went up a lot shortly after booking started but they may come down next spring.

Before I officially move on to Ketchikan, I found a couple of more pictures from downtown Juneau. Juneau is a very walkable city, and it has a lot of great little shops.

One of our favorite shops in Juneau...perfect for that sweet tooth, ok, teeth!

Creek Street is great place to explore local shops and find some great gifts.

Plus the sun came out, I have proof!

For those of you sailing out of Seattle. There are two cruise terminals Pier 66 and Pier 91. Pier 66 is clse to downtown, and is where Norwegian docks. Holland America and other lines will depart from Pier 91.
