Dawn: what are your favorite things?

Sitting in the Garden Buffet in dock in Tampa on disembarkation day. Some of my favorites were the forward sun deck on deck 12, deck 9 of the atrium above O’Sheeghan’s (watch for Joesph the waiter - great guy!), and the pool deck when there was live Caribbean music. The Elements show is a must-see.

We sailed on the Dawn in December and loved it so much we are sailing on Dawn again in March! My favorite things were:

- La Cucina had some of the best food I have EVER tried

- All of the production shows were outstanding

- Best cabin I have had on a cruise ship

- Ship was well maintained and in excellent condition

- The Thermal Spa

- O'Sheehans for good food at odd hours

- The Havana Cigar Lounge (finally a ship where my husband and I could use e-cigs that was conveniently located while not disturbing anyone else who did not want to be around the vapor

- Best casino I've been in on a cruise ship in terms of options

We had an outstanding time, and are really looking forward to boarding again!

Los Lobos is reservation BUT you can go in and sit at bar and get the fresh guacamole at the bar if you don't want to eat a meal.

We had a wonderful time!!!

We have just booked for next Friday, 13/4. I haven't been on Norwegian for 20 years. What I want to know is if they have a cruise critic meet and mingle.

Below is the link for that cruise week's Roll Call. But, from the page that I viewed, it does not appear that anyone has scheduled a Meet and Greet with NCL...

Was on the Dawn repo from San Juan to Tampa last week. I felt Los Lobos was not worth the money. Service was bad. Food was just okay.

As for the service and food in the free dining rooms, it was a lot better in Aqua than the Venetian. One example of the food was my friend ordered lasagna in the Venetian and had to send it back because it was so cold, the cheese on top was hard. The one they brought her to replace it was not really any better. Another friend ordered lasagna in Aqua a few nights later and it was so hot the cheese was melting down the sides.

Vicki

The food is the same in both Aqua and the Venetian, since it comes from the same kitchen. Your example of the lasagna is really a matter of temperature, not of the quality of the meal itself.

My issue with Aqua is that that seems to be a lot noisier than the Venetian, because of the lower ceiling. Also, the tables for two are spaced very close together. Our experience in Aqua on our recent sailing was anything but relaxing. My husband and I were seated at a table for two next to a group of ten very loud, raucous French speaking people (and that is in no way a judgment, just a fact). The nice young couple sitting on the other side of us also looked very unhappy, and we commiserated together. We really could not enjoy our dinner under these circumstances and left before ordering dessert. (This young couple happened to be seated near us in the Venetian on another night, and we all agreed that the Venetian was so much more pleasant than Aqua.)

Love all this info: We haven't been on the Dawn for about 5 years so know we are going to see lots of changes when we board in early May. Some one mentioned Patti and Jose, we loved them but know they left the ships a year or maybe even more ago. We do look forward to atrium entertainment and the piano bar. When we were on the Dawn I don't remember Los Lobos, so am looking forward to it.

Again thanks everyone for your update on the ship.

You can google Patti & Jose's schedule, to find out when they may be on the Dawn. I think that they may be on between late March & June, and again in October when we will be on board.

They are the best.

The late night shows in the Spinnaker are fun. Not-so-Newlywed game, Battle of the Sexes, and The Quest are geared towards the Adult crowd.
