Where to Meet Avalon in Amsterdam?

So we are booked for Illumination in May. Trying to figure out where we show up for the cruise. Do we meet up at a hotel and get bussed over to the boat, or do we show up at the dock?

Generally, you meet up with Avalon at whatever hotel they use pre-cruise. You should be able to figure that out by looking at the options of doing time with them pre-cruise they will specify a hotel.

Most other cruise lines seem to let you go straight to the ship if you are arriving independently; Avalon seems to want you to meet at the hotel.

I have two nights pre-cruise booked with Avalon, and they have me at the Movenpick. My TA said that the hotel might change prior to the cruise, but that’s where I am currently for the Tulip Cruise in late April.

Are you taking an overnight flight or will you be in town at another hotel? If you’re coming from the airport it’s just as easy to drop your baggage at the hotel this way it won’t get lost. If you’re coming from another hotel you can go directly to the ship at the appointed time but you need to call that day to find the docking location it could be changed. Avalon provides you with the numbers. If I recall, the Movenpick was basically across the street from where the ship was.

We arrived a few days earlier for our Rhine Moselle cruise last October. On the morning of departure we caught a taxi to the Movenpick hotel and dropped off our luggage. The Avalon representative advised us that our bags would be taken to the boat & details for the light lunch on board and final boarding time. Our boat was moored right near the hotel and Centraal station. Headed out for more exploring around Amsterdam, then went to boat and had the light lunch around 2.30pm and our rooms were ready early at 2.45pm. Your pre cruise documentation will advise you of cruise director's name and contact details as well as the meeting point and hotel details.

Thanks for the answers. We are staying south of the city the night before, driving in and returning our rental car at Centraal Station. Would like to drop our bags with Avalon before we turn it in.
