B&B's in Barcelona (yes I have tried "search")

:) Hi...planning my very first cruise to the Med for Sept 2010

and one thing about it....LOTS OF RESEARCH:eek::D

And I have used the search feature and have tried to get a common

theme for hotels..which are recommended.

I sail solo and would love a reasonably priced place to stay;)

pre-cruise.

A B&B or Pensione style place would be just fine. Maybe something

in the 125.00 range?

I did see something near downtown that is a sailboat used as

as a hotel? Anyone know anything about it? Looked different

that is for sure:)and now I cannot even remember the name of it!

I think my eyes need a break........thanks for any help:)

Lois,

How long will you be in Barcelona? We searched for reasonable B&B's for our post cruise stay in April. Finally picked an apartment through Cocoon Barcelona. We will be there for 5 days.

Hi Lois!

I am going on a Mediterranean cruise in May 2010. I booked a room for two nights post cruise at Hostal L'Antic Espai. It is highly rated on TripAdvisor and the rates are reasonable. It is an Inn run by 2 gentlemen. They do have single rooms. And they do have a website, so you can check it out.

Good luck!

Mindi:D

The MarinaView B&B has some really good reviews and good prices

too and it looks lovely:)

I emailed them and now lets see what they say.

I also found one called "The WillowMoon"...its a catamaran that

has been converted into a B&B and it looks awesome. It says

they have a 2 night minimum though. I emailed the owner and asked

if he makes exceptions. I would stay there in a heartbeat. It looks

fabulous:D

Thanks everyone for the suggestions:)

Hi Mindi,:) says they have a 2 night minimum which is happening

alot.

I did find the MarinaView has only a 1 night and it looks very

nice.

I am going early but will be in London or Dublin the first night

and then on to Barcelona for the 2nd night.

I do appreciate everyone's help though:)

We all must be on the same page. I keep looking at TripAdvisor:)

I found something else too...I was looking at hotels/B&B's, etc.

Hotel Jazz directly on their own website is only 100 Euros per night.

I keep forgetting the ratio to our $$ but I do know that is a

goo price:D

That one gets lots of positive reviews too.

Its just B&B's are usually owned or managed by locals and they

can give such wonderful insight into the area!

The Willowmoon is 2 nights minimum. The owner replied

already...at least he was quite courteous in his email:)

Hi Lois, if you can't find a B&B you like, Hotel Jazz is quite good. I didn't stay there but did "visit" someone else who was......nice rooms and rooftop pool.

I am currently searching for a place for June, and I've found what I consider better family accommodations on VRBO.com (vacation rental by owner). The prices seem more reasonable, and many have a laundry machine.

Hope that helps,

Boris

Hi Boris,:) thanks for the information. I have not looked there but

from the sound of it not sure if that is something I am searching for

and the reason being is I travel solo and B&B's and hotels give

me more of an opportunity to interact with other folks:D

Are these rentals for one family? I mean are other people

around too?

Or are the owners there, as a B&B is usually set up?

I will check out the website to see how it is done though.

Thanks again:)

Check out the little Hotel Continental right on the Ramblas..we always stay there..right near Placa Catalyuna..we take the airport bus to the Placa, walk down to the hotel on the left..easy.Lovely B&B type place.

Sherry

PS..ask for a room with a window..

What type of issues are you referring to? I'd like to know before I make any commitments.

My only VRBO knowledge is from a friend of mine who uses it when he travels stateside.

Thanks,

Boris

1. No one being available right there, like at a hotel or B&B, if there are any room/repair issues.

2. The apartment in the flesh looking nowhere like it does in the photos, but you already will have paid all charges before arrival so no recourse.

Perhaps I am jaded by the experiences I read about on the tripadvisor forums, which tend to be the negative ones.

One disadvantage of Hotel Jazz - Depending on your room, there is sometimes noise and vibration from the Metro which runs underneath the hotel.

Good to know. My friend didn't mention it so it must not have been an issue with her room, but would certainly be a minus!
