CruisaholiCandy Posted January 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2010 We leave this Saturday, and fuel is going up again. Does that mean Carnival will tack on additional fuel charges?
travelntreats Posted January 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2010 We leave this Saturday, and fuel is going up again. Does that mean Carnival will tack on additional fuel charges? The way the economy is right now and the fact that fuel has been fluxuating quite a bit lately.... probably not, but just know they could reinstate it between now and then still and you would have to pay those FS fee's. I always allow for the additional costs and if they occur, I am prepared... if they don;t, I have more $$$ to donate to the casino, shopping or bars ! CruisaholiCandy Posted January 14, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 14, 2010 (whispering) Thanks, just wanted to be prepared and let folks from our group know. But, you're right, let's just drop it, not give them any ideas!;)
firefly333 Posted January 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2010 If they do add it, Im sure it would take at least a week lead time after the announcement. It would take a lot of man power to get to all the cruises if they only gave themselves 24 hours to tack it onto everyone. Carnival isnt known for their computer expertise. GuitarPlayer Posted January 14, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Carnival isnt known for their computer expertise. No doubt! At least they got cruising down pat, though. GP

firefly333 Posted January 14, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2010 But their website is so...so...high tech and user friendly... And thats why you have to snail mail in future cruise certificates, so they can ascertain they are the originals, cant track them by cert # on the computer .. and other things you would think they could do by computer, they do by hand. They seem to be 20 years behind the times.

Maybe> You will find out when you get on board. Not much, if anything that you can do about it now.
CanWeGoYet? Posted January 14, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2010 As far as I know none of the cruise lines have started adding the fuel surcharge right now. As soon as one starts, the rest will follow suit. But for now we are safe.

I would bet my hat they wouldnt add it that last minute and tack it on. They will annouce it when they do with a starting date, not effective TODAY. G'ma Posted January 14, 2010 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2010 We leave this Saturday, and fuel is going up again. Does that mean Carnival will tack on additional fuel charges? Only Carnival HQ knows anything about this....it's useless to guess. If/when it is instituted, don't fret, you'll know it right away.
