DEBARKATION LUGGAGE TAGS from ebay a good idea?

Personally, I can't imagine anyone paying for these tags. While they are marked "#1",it only means you can leave the ship earlier than others with a higher number....but, so can those who self-debark or those who have a really early flight home (after making arrangements with the Purser).

Considering the crowds and chaos, the bad tempers and discourtesy shown by some who are tryiing to hurry off the ship,I can't imagine being involved in an early departure. As Platinum, I'm given these tags but leave them in the room. I find a nice place to relax, sit back and let those in a hurry all clear out and, when the announcement is made that all can leave the ship at their leisure (instead of waiting for a number to be called), I stroll to an empty elevator and walk right off the ship...no lines, no crowd. At luggage claim, most are gone and mine is usually right there. I'm off with no wait, no crowd and no hassle.

As a seller on eBay, I was amazed that these tags were on sale and people were actually paying from 5.00 to 15.00 for them.

I might not leave mine in the room next time........:D:D

Only my opinion, of course.

I wouldn't think so, you never know what color/number they will call first. If you really need to get off early just go talk to the service desk.

All the tags are blue and they start with #1, after any other special groups are called.

I have been on cruises where they used colors but granted, they may not have been Carnival. We usually self-assist disembark now, so I haven't paid close attention or been onboard for the calling of the numbers but it does seem like a waste of money to buy something they are going to hand out at the end of the cruise.

Back in the day before self embarkation and the pursers desk giving them out by just asking they were a great deal. I bought them off Ebay a couple of times and was one of the first off the ship. This enabled me to schedule early flights and I was out of there!

Then I learned later that if you had a good story the pursers desk would just give them to you without much concern.

Why bother. Your "number" is never checked when you get off the ship. You can leave with any group that you want. Luggage is all put out at one time. The numbers are simply suggestions to put some semblence of order into the process.

This is not necessarily true. We've disembarked in Tampa once where they were using the luggage carousel system. If you were number 12 and got off the ship when they called number 1. You'd be standing there for 45 min to an hour because they only put the numbers that have been called on the carousel.

They said they were using it when we disembarked in Jan. But when we got off it was the old line 'em up in the warehouse mode.;)

In Long Beach, the luggages are put into one big room and you find your luggage corresponding with the number you were given to disembark. Even though our number was high, we walked down to the gangway and they let us off. Good thing we got off early as we just barely made our flight.

P.S. I wouldn't pay extra for luggage tags just to get off the ship earlier, waste of $$$.

I think this has always been the case.

I do self disembarkation, so I cant imagine paying for someone to ship luggage tags to me. wow. I still cant believe someone would pay for these.

Wow if I would have known I would have brought my #6's home to sell on ebay!! They gave us 6 luggage tags and we did self embark and didn't use them, just left them in the room.

Not sure how we got a #6, we were on the 7th deck and our flight wasn't till 5:45.

They did tell you not to get off till your # was called cause only luggage would be put on the carosel that # was called. This was Miami.

We did the self embark and was off the ship by 8'ish, then by 8:30 we found our driver and was headed to FLL. We rented a car and drove up to west palm beach, we have come down to west palm beach at least once a year and wanted our friends to see it and have lunch at John G's!!!! So Good!!

Interesting. they must have taken the carousel out of the port in Tampa. It has not been there the past two years, nor have I ever seen one in any port. The luggage is always spread out and all of it is inspected by the dogs before anyone is allowed off the ship.

There was a thread on here a while back where someone sold a weeks worth of Capers on EBay. Price?? $40.00

What would be a good price for FREE luggage tags?? WHAT?

A fool and their money are soon parted.

HA!!

You should see the prices they are getting on past guest pins......big market out there, for sure... One which I exploit ferociously by buying low and selling hihg.

Supply and demand....it's a beautiful thing..:D

I'm loving the idea of selling pins and capers! I have several splendor pins!

To the OP, getting those tags really only says what section you'll find your luggage in when you get off. I have never once had them ask to see my luggage tag stub.

Now, I'm not telling you what to do, but consider what that means. They call numbers in groups (1-5, 6-9, etc.) and they don't check your tag stubs...

Do you really think you need to pay for those tags? ;)

I can't imagine paying for these either, but there are people who don't know they can ask at guest relations for earlier tags. There are a lot of people who would sell their souls on EBAY for a buck.

I do wonder though, how if you leave your tags in the room, which, to me, means you put nothing on your luggage, how you find your luggage, or do you do self-debark, but at a later time?

By the way, I am still waiting for an answer to my question to you a while ago about singles paying port taxes, but not government fees. You stated that singles don't pay either and I gave you an example, but sorry if I missed your answer.

Each person pays the same port tax and government fees. Those are assessed per person, NOT per cabin. It is the same per person whether there is 1, 2, 3, or 4 in a cabin.

Supply and demand I love. I wish the Govt would get out of the way and let it fix itself.

But here we are talking about Suckers and Charlatans, not the beautiful thing that is S&D

I totally agree with you....why are you going to try and rush on the ship just to rush off the ship and back to all the hustle and bustle of life. I always just sit back and relax. I will wait as you suggest next time so as not to get tangled up in the rat race when my number is called.

Thanks:)

I always sell my cruise info on Ebay. I also have 2 cabins so I get 2 sets.

Last cruise was an NCL,but prior cruise, I sold the capers, the PLATINUM priority debarkation tags and the one that got the most bids, was the "Priority tender tags/labels" that allowed you to avoid the tender lines and number system in place.Just walk to front of the tender line when ready, except when on the island, you must get escorted to the front.

I also sell the Platinum gifts including the pins.I used to sell the glass, glasses until I sold them all.I have a few rare one's left.

I have even sold the dining and drink menu on ebay. The dining menu was given to me by the waiter (just the menu,no binder/sleeve) and they just left the drinks cards on all the tables.:)

The book in the cabin,$5 plus shipping is what it fetches.

As a matter of fact,I used to post that someone was selling the stuff on ebay here and it could have been my stuff, but that would not be allowed here so it wasn't mine;).LOL
